how could you possibly hate sports
Basketball = no good
Soccer = alright
Swimming = best sport ever.

So, it depends.

This week I've had two presentations, one about Modernism in Literature and the other about Psychological Illnesses.. gah, it lasted for 3 days, and it's still not finished. Then, I played the worst show I ever did in 2 years. I have recordings though, I will post the "not so complete utter crap" ones.

Iai 04-15-2005 05:14 PM

I hope you mean to play, and not to watch. That list you gave gets progressively more fun to do if you go downwards, and progressively more fun to watch if you go upwards.

Anyway, I'm usually terrible at working out tracks by ear, but in the past 3 days I've figured out the piano riff from Stem/Long Stem, the violin passage and opening chords from Art Of Life, the melody and chords to Kiss From A Rose, and the middle eight from The Model (Kraftwerk). That's more than I've worked out ever, I think.

leiferikson 04-15-2005 05:49 PM

Swimming is only fun when there are big inflatable octupii in the pool. Or those blue styrofoam (?) mats on which you have aquatic battles. Basketball I dont think is very fun to play or watch on account of it being too repetitive. Football (soccer) "pwns" every other sport there is.

Iai 04-15-2005 06:06 PM

Slamball > everything.

Wait, so you think soccer isn't repetitive? Back and forth, back and forth...maybe a goal scored...wow.

Happymeal 04-15-2005 07:32 PM

What I don't get is why it's the most popular sport in the world.

The NPC 04-15-2005 07:32 PM
I'm sure there's more to it than that.
Kicking the ball, a couple of slide tackles, or headers? The point is soccer is just as boring as basketball, or as he's put it.

:rolls eyes: I wont even dignify that with a response.

Please dont send me to the gulag again. I've only just begun to walk and sit properly again

Because it's cheap.

leiferikson 04-15-2005 07:36 PM
i think basketball is more popular
Nah, look at the soccer (i'll call it that in this thread only) world cup. Whats the basketball equivalent of that?

I, and millions of others, find football exciting for the same reasons you find whatever sport you like exciting.

Beacuse it's true. Soccer is just as boring and repetitive as basketball. Also, how many upsets are there in soccer? Not very many, you basically know who's going to win before the match has even begun.

basketball is fun

EDIT: HAH! we think alike kiddo!

YDload 04-15-2005 07:40 PM

You people are silly. Soccer is definitely a fun sport to play, and the "back and forth" tendencies of basketball are almost non-existent because there's no shot clock and the field is much larger. Although it IS pretty boring to watch, but understanding why the rest of the world watches it anyway is akin to understanding why Americans watch baseball.

ZERO: I downloaded an Eels song just because of you. They're okay, but I think I've heard that song "Novacaine for the Soul" before.

Ha!

Well I don't think it's fun for my friends because I drain the 3 ball all day.

Iai 04-15-2005 07:42 PM

I've never know anyone from outside America take even the slightest interest in basketball.

The Olympics doesn't count. Every sport has an international competition there.

NPC Sports League is where it's at anyway.

How about Greece winning Euro 2004? Not many people saw that coming.

Football is superior because its easy to follow, doesn't keep stopping every couple of minutes, clear rules (offside is the only one that could be considered hard to understand), and its easy to distinguish when good things happen eg. a breathtaking piece of skill, a 25-yard screamer etc. And a lot of people say its boring how there arent many goals scored, well that only makes it even more exciting and special when a goal is scored

Iai 04-15-2005 07:46 PM
Yoa Ming?
.....is that a flame? :confused:

Edit: I Googled, and found a genetic freak who lives and works in America. What's your point?

Meh. I know you're probably not gonna bother arguing properly with a "n00b" like me but just like how sarcasm is the lowest form of wit its also the lowest form of argument technique. Its only sports though, so I dont really care.

An argument about sports between America and UK is about as pointless as Moby. If you did a favourite sports poll in both countries soccer would no doubt be top in the UK, but in the US it'd probably be somewhere in between "Burger lifting" and "Kiddie rape"

Or, I might not be arguing with you at all and possibly just having a good time at your expense while I do my office work.

Trust me, I don't care about soccer, basketball, or you.

Edit: Yes I am aware about my comment on sarcasm just a couple of minutes ago.

Were you joking about doing office work? I can never tell when you're joking

Happymeal 04-15-2005 08:14 PM

As much as it is popular, I can imagine how fun it is to play football alone. Wowz
