Been listening to Nebula all day :)
|
Right now I am listening to Boy Hits Car by Boy Hits Car. It's a pretty neat album; lots of Indian influence in an otherwise normal-sounding post-hardcore/something else album.
That's a good album. |
I'd like to hear those guys.
|
Boy Hits Car! I've got that album, and I've got one of their early local ones too! It's called My Animal, and though some of the songs appeared later on the s/t, the versions are much different, and the other material definitely makes it worth having. If you'd like it, holla at a playa.
|
Yea, for some reason I did too. Pop punk or nu metal.
|
The Grit - I Came Out the Womb an Angry Cunt
Punk 'n' Fuck 'n' Roll. I picked this up when I saw them last night. |
Meat Puppets - Meat Puppets II
Meat Puppets - Up On the Sun I'm really starting to like these albums. |
up on the sun is maybe my favorite meatpuppets song
that album has a lot of filler sounding tracks though |
Frank Zappa - Sheik Yerbouti!
|
that album has a lot of filler sounding tracks though
For me, not a single song is boring on either of those albums. |
Circle Takes The Square - S/T
Fugazi - 13 Songs The Dismemberment Plan - The Ice Of Boston EP |
whoa this is surprising. I always thought they were a nu-metal band or something.
Similar volume level. That's about all they had in common with the nü metal people, although sometimes their lyrics are a tad too angsty, but they're way, way more interesting than the bands they shared radio playlists with for the five minutes they got airplay.
|
The first time I heard Boy Hits Car, I thought their sound was really unique. That's because they were probably the first post-hardcore band of that style I'd ever heard. Then a band called Boysetsfire came out and they sort of dominated the "Boy-" band scene instead. Argh!
anyway, I've been listening to Bear Vs. Shark's Right Now You're In The Best Of Hands... a whole lot. It's really neat, like ATDI if they weren't so frantic all the time. |
Rancid
Might have become one of my favorite bands literally overnight. |
Rancid
Might have become one of my favorite bands literally overnight.
How? |
Bread and Rose - Bread and Roses
Sweet folk-punk. The song Bedtime for Plutocracy is one of my favourites ever but the rest of the album's great too. I need to get their split with Mischief Brew. |
Toby Driver - In the L..L..Library Loft
Set Fire to Flames - Sings Reign Rebuilder Yes. Noise rocks. |
WTF, last.fm??
I'm digging all my post-rock again. It's been a while. |
I've never listened to Belle & Sebastian. I downloaded their new one cause I felt like I should get hearing what's being released this year. I'm also getting that Anathallo record.
This Belle & Sebastian is kind of neat. A little over-produced, maybe? |
Bob Dylan- Desire
Oh Hurricane, you poor guy :( |
I've been digging all things Meat Puppets.
Bread and Rose - Bread and Roses Sweet folk-punk. The song Bedtime for Plutocracy is one of my favourites ever but the rest of the album's great too. I need to get their split with Mischief Brew.
When did that split come out? |
This Botch album from the mailing list is nice as hell.
|
Murs' Murray's Revenge was my main diggage for the past week. It's ok, not near as solid as 3:16 was. But I love Murs. He's probably among my top 5 currently active in-their-prime MCs. He's so perfectly... West Coast.
Today, I also listened to Eric Dolphy's Out to Lunch. I need more Dolphy, I think that's the only solution to that. Also dug an album by a band called Gutbucket. They play jazz-inspired heavy music, I suppose. They've got some really nice numbers. |
Have you ever heard their song "The Fan and the Bellows?" I think it's just on a B-side or something but it's the only song I've heard of theirs and it's pretty cool.
|
Howe Gelb's (Giant Sand, whatever) is pretty damm sweet. The premise seems a little tired, but he pulls of it nicely. It's one of my favourote's of ze burgeoning year. Yessssssssss
|
I was feeling pretty bad before so I listened to The Cure, Bob Dylan and Death Cab For Cutie. Now I'm listening to The Dillinger Escape Plan.
|
The Replacements - Let it Be
I have never gotten sick of this album. It's so good. |
I've been digging all things Meat Puppets.
When did that split come out?
Quite recently on Fistolo. |
Aphex Twin - Richard D. James
I love 4, and Milkman. Those are probably my favorite tracks. |
Neil Young - After The Gold Rush
I find it a little odd that this album doesn't get mentioned too much here. |
I think that's his second best album. "Don't Let it Bring You Down" is one of my favourite Neil songs.
Today I've been re-digging the Smiths, after not listening to them for a long time. I had the radio on, they did an overview of their discography, with a couple songs off each album... made me remember how damn solid they were. So yeah. Listening mainly to Meat is Murder and The World Won't Listen, because I've never given much attention to those ones. |
I'm listening to Entroducing right now. It's not as exciting as I thought it would be, very relaxing. I guess that's good too, just not what I had expected.
|
I've been listening to alot of Blur lately, I don't know why I haven't before.
|
Finally getting into the John Spencer Blues Explosion.
|
Britney Spears.
|
The Replacements - Let it Be
The Replacements - Tim I'm finding it hard to listen to anything else, i just keep going back to these. The only song on any of these albums i'm not fond of is Answering Machine, which i find quite irritating. The songwriting on both albums is amazing. I can't believe i didn't realise how great the Replacements are before now. |
Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans
Super Furry Animals - Radiator These Arms Are Snakes - This Is Meant To Hurt You EP |
Durutti Column
Nice I've been calling Vini Reilly the experimental Johnny Marr for a while now. The Return of the Durutti Column is such an awesome album.
stuff
Nice, is that from Now That's What I Call Quite Good? I love all the Kiwi references.
120 copies were sold in New Zealand.

The single sold a staggering 450 copies in New Zealand.

Some described it as a Christmas sell-out. It sold 150 copies in New Zealand
And best of all:
This song was hotly tipped as a single until we discovered no-one liked it.
 edit: and I love the picture of Hugh, such a handsome devil |
Yes, anything with Kiwi references sets off my radar.
I'm still yet to be convinced by Talking Heads. Everything I've heard is inoffensive but nevertheless unmoving.
Damn, that pains me. What have you heard so far? Nacho, SOP is indeed a manboy. |
Ok ok i'm re-listening to Answering Machine in an attempt to discover it's greatness. It's a pretty good song i guess, it gets annoying at the end for me. The lyrics are my favorite thing about the song. It doesn't touch Androgynous in my opinion though, but maybe it'll grow on me since it seems every song on this album just gets better and better every time i listen.
