also, that girl isn't opening her mouth really wide. its just open. you might be able to fit a couple straws in there, maybe. its not worth objectifying her just cause you can see her tongue. I still say it looks like she is gasping for breath. maybe the car is being pumped full of co2 idk. |

Not much. About to go to work for a few hours, and then I've got the weekend free. Some party tomorrow night and band practice on Sunday. Our drummer is picking up amazingly fast. We're trying to get down 3 songs per practice, and we've got 13 songs. So we should be out gigging in a month and a half to two months, hopefully.

Nice. You guys have more songs than we do. What kind of bands would you guys gig with? Also, when's the tour through the U.S.? We uploaded a nearly-final mix this morning (we decided that we need to do some touch-ups in the recordings) to our myspace. For once, I'm not ashamed to link it. is it just me, or do you have no player on there?

I don't see why we wouldn't. I on a Linux box, so I'm lucky if I ever get to see a music player on MySpace. |
Chris, try this:
https://www.yousendit.com/download/S1VEa3ZLbEp3TGdLSkE9PQ I have to get with our vocalist and see what she did to the code because she might have covered it with the large image. |
And Raayllllllll do you fancy making some synthy stuff for me? ^_^ Don't need a lot of it.
|
Chris, what string gauges do you use on your 7-string?
|
Your vocals in the verse are so confident, lol in a good way.
Still think there's something screwy with the drums. They're so dull. And I thought about the whole shitty bit rate might destroy them' thing. Then I went to listen to mp3's of other music, and the only things that really get ruined the cymbals and sometimes the top end of the snare, the kick is usually in full definition. There's just no attack in that kick, you need to hammer that into this 'particle man'. On a slightly more angry note: He pisses me off man. Like totally no disrespect or nuffin' cause he's your friend but..if he isn't going to give out the masters, which I think he should do without making you pay extra (I mean how is he making less money if he gives them to you), and then do a sub par job that a real friend would do for free and better, then he's a bit of a douche. If he is just starting out he should be taking what money he can get and basically treating his clients like royalty, without kissing *** obviously. Especially with the gear you listed that he has...I hope you aren't paying him that much to use that level of gear, especially if you're using your own microphone lol. Hell if it was me, I would've done it for free, for the love man. :chug: Get him onto mixing The Rosebush and the Grave. That's my fave so far of the bad quality recordings. |

I'm still really unsure about whether or not I like my voice enough to want to record vocals on future tracks. I'll bring it up to him about getting more definition in the kick drum. I haven't been able to listen through anything other than poopty desktop speakers, so IDK exactly what it sounds like. Our drummer wants to re-record all of the tracks, but I think it's going to be harder than he thinks to get them tracked perfectly. All things aside, he's doing what he can, and it's only a demo CD, so I'm not too worried about master tracks and all that jazz. If we decide to record a full-length CD through him, we'll make some changes all-around. If we decide not to, then so be it. He'll probably work on Rosebush next. AFAIK, it's the only other track that doesn't need any overdubs or touchups. |
Get a hold of some decent headphones, like some Sennheiser's or something and have a listen.
Then see if you can actually pick the kick drum out without even trying. :p Lol if it was me I'd get them mixed well and make it an EP. your first EP may as well be a 'demo' cd, and it's your first offering to the world, so why not make it of as higher quality as it can be? Just my elitist $0.02 coming though ;) |

For one, I don't want to put out a poopty recording - it's just not worth it to make us look bad. On the other hand, I'm thinking that better quality recordings should wait until we have better gear, a perfectly recordable sound (so we don't have to decide 2 weeks into recording that a Fender Deville sounds like **** in hard rock), and money to spend on a real studio. |
Whatever I feel like at the time. Just put some new ones on yesterday though - 134, 104, 084, 064, 044, 032, 023.

What brand do you use? That looks an awful lot like my Octave4Plus setup. |

http://www.myspace.com/cyclesofsurrealism "Ragnarok (mix 5)"
Well, Jeremy and I do most of the song writing, so it's easy for us to just sit down and work things out. You've heard the stuff I put up quasi-recently right? We re-did two of our first songs with better instrumentation and some changes and whatnot. Anyway, we'd want to gig with bands in the same sort of sound area (i.e. not singer/songwriter pop, and not face-melting metal). Anything else is pretty much in the realm of possibility. We could gig with 70% of the bands around here, no problem. http://www.soundcloud.com/hearth-and-the-salamander I'll leave that there, just because. |
I really like your guitar parts and tones. Well basically the music. The vocals not so much sorry. Like, they're not completely horrible. But IMO the music quality far surpasses the quality of the vocal.

j/s
Do you mean that in the sense of their recorded quality, or just don't like the particular tonal qualities of my singer's voice? Appreciate it either way, though. :) |
I use Overwater strings. Because they're the cheapest, and they're good quality. And they actually sell sets for 7 strings. They're an English company though, so not much use to you I'm guessing.
