Mystery Science Theater fans should appreciate this. I checked my MySpace profile (yeah, my friends nagged me into getting one) and found this latest friend invite:

This made my day.

actually, come to think of it, i had one problem with my '92 mazda mx3

the belt broke that charges the battery. I had to drive it to the shop, which is like 6 miles on back roads and sh!t. my moms had me follow her so she could jump the car when the battery died again. After a minute, and having to get it jumped, i was like SCREW THIS

we juiced it up real good, where i proceeded to break every traffic law known to man. The bitch actually made it there and died right when i was about to park it

then i sold that car to my sis months later, where she proceeded to blow it up

just remember man. Anything with tits or wheels, will eventually give ya problems

i still have a bunch of episodes on VHS

Shattered_Future 01-20-2006 02:08 PM

I think I saw half of one episode before, and thought, "Why am I watching this?"

Philistine.

What was the movie they were showing?

Shattered_Future 01-20-2006 02:13 PM

I don't even remember, it was so cheesy. I remember there was a car, and someone driving in it, but that's about it.

Yeah, that narrows it down.

Off the top of my head, that describes

Manos: the Hands of Fate
Prince of Space
Hobgoblins
Horror of Party Beach

And a bunch more.

You may caught one of the more forgettable episodes. You need to see the classics like Prince of Space, The Undead, Godzilla vs. Megalon, and Laserblast.

I don't care what anyone says, Mike was much funnier than Joel.

kurrpt 01-20-2006 03:01 PM

steerspike : you see the skydiving one? How about that italian robber guy

edit : i agree, Mike pwns Joel

Cain 01-20-2006 03:09 PM

I owned "Godzilla vs. Megalon" but without the Mystery Science Theater 3000 thing, :(

But I was huge Big G fan back in the day. Still am, to a degree. Although any one of those '70s Gozilla movies involving both monster karate fights and aliens that look like Americans and/or apes in space helmets are just too torturous for me to bear even with that.

There's only one s in my name. Steer-pike. The Gormenghast archvillain.

Anyway, that's also pretty nebulous.

Godzilla will always be cool.

Just so you guys know, there's a Mystery Science Theater channel on Winamp internet TV. Right now, they're playing the truly awful Blood Waters of Dr. Z.

Starring no one, not a living soul, and with a plot so dreary, laggy, and pointless it would drive self-help gurus to suicide.
Godzilla will always be cool.
of course.

'sup mx? i got my final Uni offer today, BBB to go to Durham, so that's going down as my firm choice, with Lancaster as my insurance choice (BCC). this probably makes sense to UK MXers more, but hey, i'm pretty damn pleased i got accepted into Durham.

gmoneyguy 01-20-2006 03:50 PM

I might be dropping my gig as a pizza maker, and get job as a guitar instructor.

I'm applying to be a guitar instructor/counsellor at a music summer camp. Seems the easiest way to earn a few grand over the summer by teaching guitar, as opposed to doing lessons and stuff like that around home.

That, and it will definity keepyou up on your theory.

Leper 01-20-2006 04:25 PM

Are guitar lessons really worth the money if you tend to not practice much on your own? Or is the time at home more important?

I think they are important help you with technique. and you'll learning things faster when you have someone ther teaching you how do it, rather then you trying to figure things out on your own.

Leper 01-20-2006 04:33 PM

I guess when you go somewhere else to take the lessons, there's less things to distract you too..But yeah, I'm thinking about taking some lessons.

:shudder:

I have seen worse, though. Not necessarily a moonsault, but it was an aerial maneuver like that.

The grossest leg injury I've ever seen was when I was watching the clean-and-jerk for some weightlifting competition, and the guy's leg snapped in two and when he keeled over the weight landed on his leg.

Talk about your day getting ruined like whoa.

Deconstruction 01-20-2006 04:42 PM

House of Wax? Good bad?
I remember on World's Strongest Man one year, this American guy was flipping a car, and it fell back on to him and crushed his leg under him. His leg like fell off below the knee.
I love MetRx World's Strongest Man. The one announcer is so over the top.

Shadows 01-20-2006 04:52 PM

Damn. I just found out that my iPod can store and display song lyrics too, and since I'm anal about filling in every last detail correctly, I have to go back and fill in the lyrics for all 375 songs I have so far. This should be fun.

That moonsault thing looked bad. I once saw an olympic weightlifter on TV try to lift some ridiculous amount of weight, like over 400 lbs. He was lifting with his legs until his femur completely snapped beneath him. I was cringed.

Bartender 01-20-2006 05:00 PM

A friend of mine showed me a video of a pole-vaulter apparently making a perfect jump over a bar (perfect to a non-expert like me, anyway - he went up, over, and down), and then inexplicably curling up in a ball and rolling around on the crash mat when he landed.

To explain, there was a slow motion shot from a different angle which showed that on releasing the pole on the one side of the bar, it passed under the bar ever so slightly while he flew over the top - just far enough to catch him square in the balls as he fell to earth.

No broken bones or anything so visually impressive, but it makes me cower far more.
