That sucks.
I've tried and tried and tried, but the at about 60% through the download, I get this message saying "ERROR: The server has been reset"
Me-wtf? /tries to find song, but fayles I'll try super hard once it has geetar on it though.
meh...not missing much....the whole beggining builup before it slams into the riff is kinda ...bleh...i wasnt sure how the dynamics of the mic were gonna work out so any part thats kinda soft has a lame sound to it....and my dam hihats are way louder than everything else (among other problems) i would like to get some drum mics, but dont have the money right know jake for the verse riff (of stinkfist)what are the two main notes played? ( i would like to see if a can match up a chime with one of the notes for some cool effects) |
It goes from D to F, back to D, then to G
The second part of the verse goes A, G, F, D. Not sure how much help that was, but for sure, you want one tuned to D. :p |
Hey Chris- Thanks for being so quick with your recording, man. It's a big track, and I was getting anxious for some new recordings. Best of luck with finishing. Hopefully my dialup will actually let me DL the file this time. I have yet to hear Marshall's drumming. :p
No problem. I used to know this song so it's not too difficult to play now. I'm not too sure about the verse riffs though. I recorded what I think he plays/what I think sounds best, but I'm not sure if it's right. His guitar sound is so percussive in the verses.. |
Ohh yeah, that's Lateralus, good call. :p Stinkfist verse would be E and D
EE EE D/EE EE D That's how the rythm goes...kind of. And Chris, if it fits with the song, it shouldn't be a problem. |

And will also try to make it not sound all cluttered ex: all of dannys other stuff  |
I like how Cool Edit Pro has shut down on me twice in five minutes.
Not a good sign. As soon as I get the legendary outro, it starts being stupid. That's my favorite part, and it's one of the easiest. :( |

Haha, picks the best times to do that.
The drum track rules, by the way. I put some compressor on the drums and mixed them a bit too. They sound a bit better now. We still have the hiss in the intro, but it's okay. :p |
I just bought a Tool bootleg for twenty bucks at a used record store. I'll give the info, in case anyone's interested.
It's called Tool – The Ultimate Ultra Rare Trax 1. Calling Dr. Love (from a Kiss tribute album, with Maynard on vox.) 2. Rev 22:20 (something from the Underworld soundtrack that Maynard did with Danny Lohner. If you liked the Judith remix, it's kind of similar.) 3. Passenger (from Deftones – White Pony.) 4. Santa Monica & Orange (a song by a band called Love Jones, with Maynard doing guest vox.) 5. Choked (some group collab. with Maynard doing some vox.) 6. Muhammad My Friend (Maynard's live duet with Tori Amos.) 7. Divorced (The Melvins, with Tool) 8. Sober (demo) 9. Part of Me (demo) 10. Hush (demo) 11. Crawl Away (demo) 12. Jerk Off (demo) 13. Cold and Ugly (demo) 14. Spasm (Peach cover) 15. Wrong Way (Sublime cover) 16. Kill The Revolution (the Rage Against the Machine/Tool collab. demo thing) I'm normally hesitant about buying bootleg related stuff, just because the material isn't always great, but it was the full band covers and demos that sold me. A lot of this was just Maynard doing guest vocals on various projects, but I'm only on the second song, so I'll let you know how the rest of it goes. |

Could you listen to the Kill the Revolution and tell me how good the quality is? I have a version of it, but it's very muddy, so if you could, I'd looove to hear that version, if it's any better.

No worries. I can just hear it in the intro really. |
Chris, when you upload it, do you think you could upload the guitar track seperate? Just because, if you juxtapose them now, it may be harder to mix the entire song later on down the road once we get the bottom end in there, and of course some vox as well. You could do both, if you please. :D

I've heard some of the songs on that bootleg, the Kiss cover is great. If you can, you should YSI it. :-*

Nice of you to stop by Patient. When do you think you could have Ticks and Leeches up? I'm trying to figure out how it would work. If I was to play the geetar on it, I would have to supply the backing track, because I have a wierd computer, so whenever I record, I have latency problems. In Layman's terms, when I record, it slowly becomes further and further out of time. I will be playing along with the track, but when I play it back along with the track I played along to, my track becomes progressively slower and slower in comparison the the other. :-/ That's what we did for Stinkfist, so I hope this would work for you on Ticks and Leeches. Oh and also, I think it would be beneficial for us if we cut some of the middle section out. I see very little purpose for it to be there. Granted, I know Tool put it there for some reason, but for this, I doubt it would get us any more votes for having a 3 minute segue of the the same 2 chords over and over. :-/ What are your thoughts on this?
|
Just give me a deadline for when you want it done, and I'll do it by then. I lack motivation skills and need to know things like these. :p I really doubt I'll be able to have it done this week. My keyboardist is coming back from Spain tommorow, so I have a feeling I'll be with my band everyday this week.
I may have missed it in your post, but what did you do to solve the slowing down? When you say middle part, I assume you mean the really slow guitar part, with the bass going on the whammy, which was all I was going to do anyway because I don't really know what's going on there. If you just give me the time, beginning and end, of what should be cut out, I can work from there. |
Well, I think we should do the interlude for maybe 2 measures or so, just as a transition and as something cool and random. I love the feel of that it adds to the song, just not the excessiveness of it.
The slowing down thing doesn't effect it much. We're talking hundredths of a second, but it slows it down enough that you can tell it's not sync'd with the song, but if you just played my track, it doesn't sound off tempo. As for a deadline, the end of the competition is August first, so we have a good 4-5 weeks left, but I would like to think I could get the guitar done within this week, and that would leave you with it for a week, then a week for drums and vox, and we should be right as rain. |
I agree jake dude that the interlude should be sorta of a quick transition, but perhaps It might not go so well if its really really short so I think it should be more than 2 measures but w/e am jsut bored and wanted to post :)

Just do two phrases of it, that'll work.
|
Sliptallica, would you want to do the drumming?
|
Sliptallica, would you want to do the drumming?
Sure, I'd love to. I never know when I get the opportunity to play though, so it'll be kinda random. |

Kill The Revolution is about the same. All in all, not worth twenty bucks, but had some interesting things. I'll YSI a few songs tomorrow. |
Bummer. I'm still looking for a higher quality recording of this collaboration, but I doubt I'll find one. :-/
Sliptallica- Sounds like a plan. Hopefully we'll have a more concrete plan soon. |
hey if we do parabol/parabola i would much like to drum on that.....

I honestly don't think something like that even exists. |
Any uploads i've missed? Apologise for my absence
|
Where've you been..Ben. :p
Well, no. :upset: Chris(307) recorded all of Lateralus last night, but he was going to fine tune it today. I'm giving up on The JoZ, so now we have ThePatient and MagicalTroll as our new bassists. Oh yeah, and I asked Chris 2 days ago to do some guitaring, and he's already got it done almost. He totally deserves a lapdance. :D So, were you on vacation, or sick, or what?? I was wondering if you had like magically defected from mx. Glad you're back man! |
What songs have we choosen to do, anyways? Lateralus and 46&2?
