The Flaming Lips- Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
Having listened to Clouds before this, I think this album feels kind of unimpressive. Still, they wouldn't be the Flaming Lips if they sounded the same on every album, so it's not THAT disappointing. |
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Interpol - Antics |
-Circulatory System - s/t
It's no Olivia Tremor Control, but it's nice. -Minsk - Out of a Center Which Is Neither Dead Nor Alive A post-metal band. It's nice. -Baroness Another post-y but kinda not band. I've only heard their 2 songs on myspace, but it's nice. -maudlin of the Well - Bath/Leaving Your Body Map and also The Secret Song. It's nice. |
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight |
Elysian Fields - Queen of the Meadow
Very, very hypnotizing. J-Charles goes a bit over the top sometimes but man oh man she does it like no other. Ok maybe not but still. Recommended for fans of Lovage and dark, titillating music. |
Cows - Cunning Stuns
|
^Nice. "Heave Ho" is such a cool song.
Steven Jesse Bernstein - Prison Funkadelic - Maggot Brain |
Various awsome Rush songs
Big Boys - The Fat Elvis Against Me! - Acoustic EP |
Listening to Ask me Tomorrow by Mojave 3 a second time has only further established the fact hat it is a wonderful album
|
Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Nine Inch Nails - Quake Soundtrack |
Big Black - Live (In Heaven)
|
Sons and Daughters - The Repulsion Box
The Drones - Wait Long By the River... The Veils - The Runaway Found Common - Be |
Air - Moon Safari
Cake - Motorcade of Genorosity |
Massive Attack - Blue Lines
Definitely not as good as Mezzanine, but still pretty great stuff.
I agree with you, but all the purists tell me I'm wrong and that Blue Lines is the greatest thing ever put to tape. I just don't get it. |
I just can't get enough of Faith No More since I re-discovered 'Angel Dust' the other day.
Other than that, I finally got Youth by Matisyahu this week, so been listening to that a lot. |
Cap'n Jazz - Analphabetapolothology
|
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska
Just found it at my local record place, it's wonderful. |
Today I listened to X - Los Angeles today while driving around.
And now I am listening to The Holy Bible, which gets better every time I listen to it. What a f'ucking awesome band. |
I bought a couple of cds today:
Blues Explosion - Acme Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan I'm digging Nacho or whateverhisnewnameis' band right now, they're nice. |
Xiu Xiu- A Promise
Xiu Xiu- Fabulous Muscles |
The new Vines album, Vision Valley, is sweet :-D
|
Super Furry Animals - Radiator
This is like if the Fiery Furnaces dropped all their pretentious bullshit and just played insanely catchy, loud-guitar indie pop.
Nice, I'm really diggin' Guerrila as of now but they are both excellent albums. |
The new Vines album, Vision Valley, is sweet :-D
really?! From the single (Gross Out), I really epcted this to be quite bad!
P.S. I'm glad you changed your name back, much better :) |
really?! From the single (Gross Out), I really epcted this to be quite bad!
P.S. I'm glad you changed your name back, much better :)
I mean, it's nothing amazing, but it's still a pretty fun album. I'm actually uploading it for the mailing list right now. |
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - B Sides and Rarities
|
ExComplex and Monday in London's The Red Machine. They're both indie groups from North Carolina. Pretty good, you should check them out!!!!! www.excomplex.com and www.mondayinlondon.com
|
Radiohead - Ok Computer
Now I know why all the elite indie kids love this album so much. |
old post + Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People
|
New Stereolab is melting my head at the moment. That + Flaming Lips = awesome sunday morning.
|
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention - We're Only In It For the Money
King Apparatus - Marbles Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers - Moanin' fIREHOSE - Ragin', Full-On |
At The Drive In - El Gran Orgo EP
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew Mr. Bungle - Mr. Bungle The Flaming Lips' new single "The WAND" has been playing over and over constantly in my head and on my iTunes. |
Big Star - Third/Sisters Lovers
|
a wilhelm scream
guitar is so insane, i wish i was half as good as these guys |
So uh diggage today.
I just listened to Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Good album, probably my favorite Floyd album. Probably their most progressive album. The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers Damn good album, Abbey Road is still my favorite though. And now I'm listening to Yes - Fragile. It's pretty good, I'm starting to like it more. I just wish their was more lyrics instead of just instrumentals. |
i like some of the instrumentals, like "The Fish" and "Five Percent For Nothing."
But of course the best songs are the ones over 7 minutes long |
Wakeman's take on Brahms is a bit out of place, but I like the other instrumentals. I completely agree though, the real prime meat there is obviously the fuller/longer songs.

Coheed and Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Wow, this album is so good. |
Coheed and Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Wow, this album is so good.
It doesn't have as much variety as their subsequent albums, but at the same time it's hard to listen to it and not say it's the band's best. I like "Time Consumer," "Everything Evil," and "God Send Conspirator" the best. Right now I am listening to Boy Hits Car by Boy Hits Car. It's a pretty neat album; lots of Indian influence in an otherwise normal-sounding post-hardcore/something else album. |
Nofx - Ribbed
Offspring - Smash I still wish I was in the seventh grade. |
I agree with you, but all the purists tell me I'm wrong and that Blue Lines is the greatest thing ever put to tape. I just don't get it.
Those purists don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin' The former is still excellent, and the latter doesn't do it for me at all.
Same. I can't seem to get into The Times They Are A-Changin' anywhere near as much as all the other Dylan albums I have.
The new Vines album, Vision Valley, is sweet :-D
That's... surprising. I dug lots of random stuff at a huge party at my place last night. Plus Original Pirate Material by the Streets. |
