I wouldn't know. But from what i've heard of U2 they don't really sound like AVA at all

TheBigMachine 09-06-2006 06:15 AM

They don't, really. They're still better though. For a start, Bonno can sing pretty well.

Surtr 09-06-2006 02:12 PM

Yourstruly, shut the fuck up.

Don't try flame a guy for stating an opinion.

Ross: Agreed on the Mark/Fat Mike deal :p

These_Green_Eyes 09-06-2006 03:32 PM

U2 is definitley better then Angels and Airwaves. I think so anyways.

That new (+44) song is pretty good. Nothing incredible, but it's not boring like most of the Angels and Airwaves songs.

lol
If anything, I was defending Tom..and was pointing out how lame and unoriginal the U2/AVA comparison is..
It's not lame and unoriginal tbh. AVA's intro to the first single ripped off the intro of "City Of Blinding Lights".

Coheed And Cambria also ripped off U2 as well. :'(

Bad Blood 09-06-2006 04:20 PM

U2 are gay though, I don't know why anyone in this genre of music would rip them off :/

Storm In A Teacup 09-06-2006 04:30 PM

Older U2 is awesome though and "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" is great too. :(

Ross 09-06-2006 05:04 PM
Ross: Agreed on the Mark/Fat Mike deal :p
Haha, hell yes. I kinda love that EP, simply for the awful recording quality.

The NOFX EP with that song on is miles (or kilometres for you proper Europeans) better though :p

Oh gawd, I hope +44 are awesome. Something good needs to come out of Blink's demise. AvA depressed me. :upset: Saying that, the +44 I've heard so far is nothing short of sexual.

Dies Irae 09-06-2006 05:46 PM

Chill out y'all there's too much hatin' in here. For serious.

I had a Blink song stuck in my head earlier today but I don't really remember. I think it was "I Miss You".

yourstruly 09-06-2006 05:49 PM

I miss You has grown on me alot. I love the bass line, it's not hard but it sounds nice. Do you like the live version of it or the studio one better?

B 09-06-2006 05:51 PM

I think I'm going to listen to Blink and do some old school reminiscing.

It'll make me feel like shit even more after but for the time being it's cool.

Storm In A Teacup 09-06-2006 05:58 PM

Yeah, when I first saw the video for "I Miss You" I hated it, but now I <3 it.

B 09-06-2006 05:59 PM

I despise that video with a passion.

And the song for that matter, merely because I think I've heard it at least 1000 times.

That one that MTV played a lot or something.

I've never heard Blink live except on the TVs and I don't think I ever want to ageen.

B 09-06-2006 06:05 PM

Yeah the live stuff I've heard is generally terrible.

Dies Irae 09-06-2006 06:07 PM

Tom - "Hey guys, I still haven't gone through puberty. I'm going to sing"

Mark - "You do that buddai"

Tom - "SHUT UP IT WILL BE AMAZING"

B 09-06-2006 06:08 PM

Mark isn't much better live either :/

At least he sounds good on record though.

Dies Irae 09-06-2006 06:09 PM

Well at least he doesn't have MS Paint hair.

B 09-06-2006 06:12 PM

hahahaha

Agree'd

He had awesome hair back in the day.

Surtr 09-06-2006 07:25 PM

 Huh?

But yeah, agreed, Tom's hairs on the edge, in a bad way, now.

This interview is from the VMAs apparently, but it looks older. it's really good though.

poo-poo-pee-pee 09-07-2006 02:11 AM

I could never really get into I Miss You.
It was a nice change, something softer.
But I just... well, don't like it.
I think it sounds kinda awkward, if that makes sence.

Though it does have a nice one-liner in the chorus:
'Don't waste your time on me, you're already the voice inside my head.'

yourstruly 09-07-2006 03:26 AM

I miss you - live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m31X8S6ob1M

I love what they do with the end, it makes my whole body feel tense

Ross 09-07-2006 07:59 AM

I saw Blink live.

They were sex.

/wins

But in all serious, Blink live was better simply because of the pace of it. They added like 20bpm to every song they played, so songs like Happy Holidays were awesome. I don't like perfect music anyway, like we tend to get on CD nowadays. I like it if there are little niggles, a bit of fret buzz, and even the odd bit of accidental flat singing; I just find it adds much more character to the music and really shows how the artists are just normal people like you and me, rather than studio edited "gods". As long as they ain't trying to sound sh1t and are just playing as best they can, I'm happy tbh.

That's why I listen to the music I do.

80% of the bands record everything in one take and it's hardly altered at all, and the vocals are hardly changed so it sounds extremely real.

Ross 09-07-2006 04:39 PM

Exactly, most of what I listen to is exactly the same. And for the same reason, I love live music.

I nearly died with happiness when I first played Disc2 of NOFX's 45 or 46 songs compilation. It was so good, I went out and bought the vinyl EPs that the songs on Disc2 were originally from.
