Yeah, that happens to me, too. It sucks. |
Yeah, that happens to me, too. It sucks.
yeah that happens to me too hold on let me go look it up in my dreamer's dictionary so i can see what this means! i have a lot of dreams where i try to cry for help but my voice doesn't seem to work. or i try to run away and its like running through a pool. |
i was staring at an oven today and saw the word "om" appear in the air
it was weird. |
oh let me look that up hold on
|
i dont think dreams are filled with visual metaphors and other such literary devices. at least, not as many as "dream dictionaries" might believe. i think dreams are just collections of things your brain can recreate well (until you examine them too closely and they fall apart, like words and stuff)
|
man i farted in this dream last night
according to my trusty dreamtionary, this means that i am unwilling to accept change! |
yah i know
lol my mom actually has a dreamer's dictionary |
Dreams have certain meaning to them, but not really anything more than things you were already thinking about.
Although last night I had a dream about avoiding this guy who I don't want to be around, only to find out today that he's in one of my classes. That sucks. |
Last night I dreamed that I was watching the news, one of those 'health watch' things, and it was about Limp Wrist Syndrome and what a plague it is.
|
most of mine are all : psychedelic : and dont really make sense but usually end up leaving me depressed when i wake up
|
I bookmarked your blog, it's nice.
|
ha ha limp wrist syndrome.
|
Sometimes I have dreams that are so ridiculous people don't believe me and say I'm a dumbass for making up dreams.
|
Dreams are meaningless you're all psycho and probably libertarians.
|
All my dreams are exactly like this:

My dreams are extremely ordinary, and almost all of them could happen in real life. I have been told this is a sign of poor mental health, but I don't know if that's true or not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqi5F5MqqTQ
I knew it was that video again before I saw the link. That show is so cool, but unfortunately doesn't seem fit for Nickelodeon. Dreams are recollections of things you gather throughout the day, memories, friends, people or things you've seen and which have caught your attention. I wouldn't say there's necessarily any symbolism. We're mammals as much as a mouse is. Just because our bodies are more complex, it doesn't mean our brains create elaborate, symbolic places and situations we visit in our sleep in order to subconsciously convey messages...or something like that. Of note: The Science of Sleep was a really cool movie. |
No it wasn't

i liked it

I find my dreams sometimes really difficult to explain because they often involve several plots at once and interesting camera angles.
That's right, I get camera angles. it's sweet. So in my Non-Western Music class my first paper is to write about my music culture. I think this is a really cool assignment but I'm having a bit of trouble explaining (or at least explaining without pointing out how much downloading I do). |
Dreams are training grounds for new situations in life you havent faced yet, and ones you face everyday. Your solutions to the tasks become ingrained in your mind, so memory is not essential which explains why you remember few or parts of them.
Kid's dreaming about monsters is an anachronistic representation of what our ancestors dreamed about: hunting or getting chased by animals. Surprisingly, studies have been done to show that a group of people given a difficult task in the day time show a normal improvement rate at it, but after getting a good amount of REM sleep they perform the task better the next day. This is because they're practicing it in their dreams (whether they know it or not). |
No it wasn't
I can understand why someone would feel that way.
no we're better than a mouse, thats why we dont get cancer from artificial sweeteners and they do. Ha! take that, mice.
Really? I've always heard artificial sweetener controversy.
That's right, I get camera angles. it's sweet.
Theme music? |
Good god I love dreams/sleep.
Edit: no, not really theme music. When I was 9 I had a dream that was a movie from start to finish. It had a title and movie music in the background and credits. Pretty cool. However in my dreams I find that as things get more stressful/intense, sounds sometimes get louder/more distorted. The closest thing I've seen like this is the scene in Eraserhead where the guy is talking to henry and goes off on a tangent about "LOOK AT MY KNEES." it's exactly like some dreams I've had. Lots of my dreams have droning sounds or piercing sounds. I have dreamt up basslines before. but only a few times have been able to duplicate them when awake. |
me too

I would assume it's less a result of subconscious practicing of this task than a recuperative sleep. |

This is actually THE debate about what dreams are for. |

Shit, call the scientists. |
i often hear songs that i've been listening to during the day when i dream. then i get really excited because the song is playing from a non-specific location (all-enveloping) but i think "oh good the radio/television is playing rare music that i like :)"
|
Sometimes I don't dream, I just hear a song or part of a song over and over.
It actually really, really sucks. |
I hate dreams. This topic always pisses me off so much.
|
lol
|
Should I do another blog drawing already? I don't necessarily have to post it right away, I guess.
|
ive had quite a few dreams with explosions in them. they were really loud and i'd wake up sweating with my heart beating out of my chest. i remember one where i was sitting in a circle at my grandmothers house and we were passing around a firework and it exploded in my face when it got to me. it sucked
|
no you're right zappa, there's nothing more boring than listening to someone describe a dream (Carlin, 1997). thats why i was trying to steer the discussion toward the general nature of dreams rather than specific recollections, which are dumb.
