Release date?

Aaron 07-28-2009 05:25 AM

Well I'm pretty [ironically] slow with releases. 7 EPs done to release before I get to it. Will trickle them out every fortnight or so. Everything I've released so far is on blog:

The titles of my releases form a story when put together [with a few exclusions]. In order:

Turned Into A Pillar of Salt
Men of the Cloth
Lost In The Wilderness
Toevah
I Started The Recession
Aimless and Fading Fast
Hate Everything That Is Different
An Implied Sense of Belonging
We Have Reached A Tipping Point
A Hair's Breadth from Destruction
This Is Not A Test
Sideways
Using Silence As A Weapon
Now We're Inside I Think We'll Be Safe
Thought I'd share.

gaslight 07-28-2009 06:13 AM

I'm not quite piecing together the narrative either.

Aaron 07-28-2009 06:17 AM

It's a free verse poem about an anti-hero:

About a man who kills a priest in the middle of a crowd, and goes to ground hiding in the wilderness with only his sin ("Toevah") for comfort. He causes social upheaval and the religious movement that was in power loses its control of the people. The man returns to find he's created a social movement and feels accepted, but can't reveal himself to the people because he's still a murder. He has to step sideways from his old life and has to rebuild a new life as an assassin.

That's the point we're up to.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-28-2009 06:59 AM

Aaron 07-29-2009 05:46 AM

Yeah. Venting random stuff makes you feel good.

I did this survey thing on facebook and it was "what weapon and animal would you ride into battle." Turns out I'd ride a dinosaur into battle and hit people with a smaller dinosaur.

I never really bothered with them. I was a Mogwai kid. Haven't listened to post rock in ages though, Mogwai's last album was so got-dang shite that I lost all interest.

Really enjoying that Mark Kozelek stuff though, have you heard his album of AC/DC covers?

horseypie 07-29-2009 05:56 AM

yeah? his last live album is really really nicely recorded (Lost Verses - Live). its the only live one ive heard but its awesome. and good to hear his songs even more stripped bare i guess haha. but i havent heard the acdc covers, have you? ive been a little scared to get the album lol

Yeah it's all pretty much the same kinda thing. Their lyrics refitted to his kind of music and feel. His version of "Riff Raff" is really nice.

horseypie 07-29-2009 06:04 AM

haha...sounds funny saying a version of riff raff is nice. i think ill download it soon

i wish i could get into red house painters but i cant at all, something about his voice at the time.

gaslight 07-29-2009 06:13 AM

Yeah I think you'll be really surprised by the Riff Raff cover. If you didn't know they were AC/DC songs, you wouldn't guess where they had come from.
