I'm going to see The Danilo Perez Trio tonight, so I'm listening to some audio clips. He's a Panamanian jazz pianist. I've never heard him before now, but these samples make me think this is going to be a great concert.
My dad has played me some stuff of his. He's really good. |
Built to Spill and Alice in Chains
|
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
The Blood Brothers - March On Electric Children Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones Miles Davis - Bitches Brew |
Yea, Show Your Bones is pretty nice.
|
Liars - Drum's Not Dead
This has grown on me so so much. Still some weaker moments, but definitely a great album. NOFX - Never Trust a Hippy Their new EP which i'm listening to for old times' sake. It's pretty good, much better than the majority of their last album. I hope the new album continues in this vane. |
My week has mostly consisted of Prefuse 73 and X. I got an album from this rap group from Senegal that I've been listening to too, Wegeble. There are some umlats in there or something. Not bad, a little uneven. I don't really get into non-english hip hop much. I don't know why. They could use some boom-bappier beats.

Jesu - Heart Ache
Jesu - Jesu As I've just found they've a new EP set for release next month. News which both fills me with joy and, upon further inspection, a little fear. |
Been listening to a bunch of alt-country type stuff lately. Very much Drive By Truckers, who are becoming one of my favourite bands.
Me too, I can't get enough of this stuff. Drive By Truckers are ace. |

I've listened to that album many times, and it was just annoying. I might give it another chance. Talking Heads - Remain in Light Wilco - Summerteeth Beck - Odelay! |
Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose
Against Me! - Crime EP Against Me! - Acoustic EP I'm seeing them on Tuesday. Should be good. The Macc Lads - 20 Golden Crates Brilliantly mysoginist and offensive northern punk with a kazoo. My favourite songs are Beer & Sex & Chips & Gravy, No Sheep 'Til Buxton (about sheepshagging, naturally) and Knock Knock which starts with this exchange: "Knock, knock" "Who's there?" "Thatcher" "Thatcher who?" "That's ya mother getting rogered in a gangbang the other night. |
Murs & Slug - Felt Vol. 2: A Tribute to Lisa Bonet
I don't like Harper, nor do I understand why other people like him. Will this change my mind?
Probably not. What do you not like about him (other thanmost of his singles, cuz they're pretty crap).?? |
^ no one cares.
Joy Division - Peel Sessions Yum. |
Sons and Daughters - The Repulsion Box
Talking Heads - Remain in Light Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding Elvis Costello - My Aim is True The Veils - The Runaway Found I'm still a little perplexed as to why I never see any mention of The Veils around here. The Runaway Found is a quality album. |
^ no one cares.
Joy Division - Peel Sessions Yum.
Mmmm....Peel Session, the album that really got me into Joy Division. She's Lost Control is so good. I'm digging Matisyahu today! Normally I'm not really into reggae, but this guy is damn good. |
A couple bootlegs I found of Elliott Smith and Afghan Whigs. The former's cover of Jealous Guy is brilliant.
|
The Books.
They just equate to awesomeness. |
Afghan Whigs - Congregation
I actually forgot how great this album really is. It's much better then Gentlemen and 1965 |
Manic Street Preachers - Holy Bible
Finally getting around to listening to them. This is a lot better than I expected it to be.
It's a great album. But I never can get through it, maybe because it's too depressing? Or just because it's too samey and long. |
Heart - The Essential Heart
Herbie Hancock - Headhunters Animal Collective - Here Comes the Indian, Prospect Hummer Vashti Bunyan - Lookaftering, Just Another Diamond Day Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pilliow |
Television - Marquee Moon
Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full Meat Puppets - Meat Puppets II Mischief Brew - Very cool bootleg with a full band |
I picked up Pink Mountaintops' Axis of Evol this afternoon. It's pretty cool, but really doesn't form too much. I'll upload a review at a laterrrrrr date.
|
What do you not like about him (other thanmost of his singles, cuz they're pretty crap).??
