Yes, and being an LTD it'll be built like a tank, but I dunno, I'm just not digging the played out pointy avec EMG's thing anymore, despite owning a pointy EMG equipped LTD 7 string. I'm really GASing after an S series now, a nice 6 string I can use for home recordings instead of having to move my LP about everywhere.
mofunger you gotta straight up start listening to music outside of the safe distance within which your entire discography exists. I'm sure you could crank out 10 of those tracks today if you had to, although there is some merit in that, it's not very rewarding. You can produce, so start experimenting within a different framework; switch up which aspects or instruments take the lead in the song. If you're going to have an inclusion of electronic effects to ornament your composition don't just tack something on, work something out that earns it's place. I understand that you might be working up to a certain standard for yourself, and the tracks you make are ones that you're probably going to perform...but artistically there's no harm with experimenting and failing, you need more surprises. Too many bands and sounds copped in one record will just sound crap, you can't expect anyone but indiscriminate teenage mallrats to digest and enjoy that kind of stuff.

First song I've heard that's on a 7 that isn't super obviously a 7

nice sampling of MO, pretty true to the original. Rhythm makes it sound like it'll fall apart.

jingledress: haven't heard much flylo but I assume this is the stance of his club/dance electronica songs. Interesting mix when the timbres swell up under the club-bass and drums...certainly a goofy but evocative atmosphere. Your sampling is clipped nicely, keep the shit rolling...and be dramatic occasionally.

Although overly verbose, I hear you. That track was written as a full band though so the structure is pretty much final. As for layers and vocals I've got lots of ideas for that. I've been meaning to make this release sound more 'finished', in that in isn't just 3 tracks recorded with drums bass guitar and vox, so I'm going to start listening to stuff and pick out little quirks and ideas that could work well with the compositions.

fatbandit 04-16-2011 02:01 PM

Kuffuffs, I just got me some new drum samples so I can actually finish off the drum velocities and whatnot now. So expect a little bit more progress on that track coming soon :)

Kuffuffled 04-16-2011 02:59 PM

Aight fatty. Pick a tempo and get a basic drum track down and I'll start tracking geetars

benfan 04-16-2011 03:00 PM

Any of you guys ever ordered anything from Warmoth? Im toying with the idea of modding an old Affinity Strat iv got knocking around and im looking at replacing the neck first off.

fatbandit 04-16-2011 03:25 PM

I can send you just the drums as an mp3 now to track to if you want? Not in any better state than before, just with better samples on. I've only done reassigning to the new map, I haven't done the velocities yet. Or played with kit sounds particularly.

Kuffuffled 04-16-2011 03:40 PM

That's fine. I was dicking around with it once and couldn't figure out the bpm

Kit sounds way better heh

fatbandit 04-16-2011 03:44 PM

inorite. Mostly not happy with the main crash sound, so I'll see what else is in there. That's literally like the default kit, I've only had the plugin for an hour or something. Better things to come! Might put the HD500 to the test when I track the bass for realsies. Should have it pretty soon.

Reading this made me think - I don't think I've GAS'd after anything since 2007 o.O Does this mean I've stopped being a guitarist by definition? :P

Lod: I need a name for my solo recordings but I'm not really getting much inspiration. the only name I've come up with so far is Homage to a Shame, which is my favourite Oceansize song and also an awesome name, but does it sound too much like the generic, 4 word, emo-core names?

Epidemechanical 04-17-2011 03:56 PM

see i am a genius

don't call it homage to a shame but don't call it some gay vulgar piece of crap like raayl suggests

Sad But True 04-17-2011 04:24 PM

I am loving the shit out of them. Seriously went straight into my favourite bands after like 30 minutes of listening. Reason I chose an Oceansize song name is sort of a double homage (lol see wut I di-you get the idea) in that their band was named after a song and they've inspired me to incorporate ambient post rock stuff into my alt/metal solo project thing. Now that I think about it 'Homage to a Shame' works perfectly.

Epidemechanical 04-17-2011 04:33 PM

im gonna name my dissonant metal EP "Aborted Insect"

Sad But True 04-17-2011 04:43 PM

There's a couple that I remember from that band name generator, Lamp Cannibal and Intuition Of The Delicious Jelly

And I think I'm gonna go with Homage to a Shame; it seems to fit what I'm trying to do with the EP. I'm going to be making 2 30 minute EPs that run like one song but with different movements, like a smaller Catch 33. at first I was gonna make one of them really heavy 7 string stuff really reminiscent of Catch 33 with the repeated riffs cycling through and one quite technical tuned to C# on my 6 string, but now I'm thinking of merging ambient post rock stuff into both of them, but having the 7 string one quite proggy and riff and the 6 string one more melodic. I'm going to be doing vox on all of it but I also want guest spots all over em, I've got a couple of really good guitarists in mind and a funky bass player. Raayl you up for doing a guest spot on it when I get round to it in a couple of months after new job/alter eden tracks?

rofl I like this

being aborted is bad enough, but an insect doubly bad

benfan 04-18-2011 01:01 AM

SBT. Call your project Attack of the Massives. The artwork for your e.p can be Gregg Valentino ( see my avatar ) Ronnie Coleman and Dorian Yates all flexing...........with a guitar in the background. It would be huge!

(*The Noonward Race*) 04-18-2011 01:18 AM

i named an ep lo fi flo
