I'm on MSN quite a lot.

Saves money on text messages.

Nightvision 06-06-2005 03:56 PM

I'm on e-messenger at the moment... lets me use MSN from work. No-one worth talking to on at the moment.
I totally agree, whenever I play along on my bass to a cd, I end up adding loads of fills in all the time, just because root notes are so boring.
I don't get how people could play a full set of songs using just root notes, it is so boring. Even when I sing at the same time, I'm constantly adding fills, so I don't see that as an excuse.
It's all about the groove, yo. If you sound out of place with the drums then it doesn't sound good no matter what you're doing.

Thats true. You can't really improvise unless your guitarist does too.

PDWAB 06-06-2005 04:10 PM

Well, not really. Bass is a rhythm instrument, your job is to keep time with the drums while projecting the chords that are being played. And the best way to project a chord? Play the root of it. How busy your basslines are depends on the style, but I think too many bass players overplay because they forget their role in the band.

cbmartinez 06-06-2005 04:14 PM

Joel u so technical

Understanding In a Crash 06-06-2005 04:21 PM

Joel is racist against the bass as you can see :D

(but he's right)

Thats why i rule, because im a bit lazy and play roots, with little fills. I find that works better with pop-punk anyway.

Oh god, the Daphne Loves Derby CD, one of the most anticipated this year for me, has leaked. But the person with it on mIRC has all his slots filled (Haha, slots filled... haha!). So I have to wait for it! Argh, stupid thing!

Its the one where they make a club to stop directors making films....

Gnarmageddon 06-06-2005 05:12 PM

Haven't seen that one. I don't have cable so I've only seen a handful of episodes. But now that I think about it, I have the entire second season on DVD sitting around here somewhere....

Untitled 06-06-2005 05:14 PM

This isnt on cable, its on terestrial tv. Its funny, taking the piss of star wars etc etc.

Captain Jack Sparrow 06-06-2005 05:37 PM

So, I had kind of a crap/good'ish day.

I scored above average on absolutely everything I tested for in my processing for the army. I was qualified to be a recruiter according to my scores and I haven't even been through basic yet. But, the higher ups in the army have decided that GED carrying applicants have to take a personality test called the AIM test. You have to score a 50 to move on to boot camp. I scored a 44. So, after threatening to shoot up everyone in the HQ, Cpl. Blankenship found out that if I go through basic with the National Guard, I can do a hardship swap straight out of bootcamp and go into the army anyway.

So, I'm shipping out for Ft. Benning, Georgia possibly this Wednesday and I'll receive a $20,000 bonus at the end of the year on top of my salary for doing a quick ship into basic.

The hell? How long have they been big? I used to see them all the time back when I was big on local shows. Shoot I still have one of their home-made burned CD demos!

Understanding In a Crash 06-06-2005 07:33 PM

I just purchased Vaya and was mutally impressed by it.

MattSharpIsCool 06-06-2005 07:46 PM

I found a pretty cool website where you can make your own punk/pop punk/whatever songs.....here's the link: http://addictinggames.com/punkomatic.html

Click on "load" and enter the code 000011118888 to hear my song. If it asks you to choose a save slot, choose slot 1.

Then make your own song, and post it for everyone to listen to.
