I know - I dropped into the stronghold the other day - 68 000 posts! It will no doubt have increased exponentially since then.

munky_magik 01-04-2005 10:19 AM

It's totally crazy. I've never read through it though so I don't know if it's a proper community thread or if it's just mindless spam/ rep whoring.
Me thinks the latter.

Shred Danson 01-04-2005 10:19 AM

Oh well, as long as this thread contains good discussion concerning Metallica, it doesn't matter that we have the most posts in the Forums. Decent threads are hard to come by.

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 10:19 AM

Just checked - 4th largest behind classic rock, the community thread and the death heads (I was away from MX for quite awhile - why did they revive the original one?)

But some spamming can build the community. There's actually a fairly good mix between spam and constructive talk in there.

JACKROXYOU 01-04-2005 12:07 PM

im surprised to i think i started posting in this thread about 200 pages back

so is it time to continue the lists or should i wait?

some spam doesn't fall under the Mindless Spamming community though. I myself qquite enjoy tastefull spamming :p

Shred Danson 01-04-2005 12:39 PM

Just don't do it in here, munky  You'll bring our beloved Metallica thread down.

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 01:14 PM

You're bringing the forums down on your own munkey ;)

munky_magik 01-04-2005 01:24 PM

Lets just get back on track and carry on talking about Metallica!

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 01:46 PM

Thank you - I just didn't have the heart to say it myself...

Right favourite songs on Garage Inc.
Discuss

munky_magik 01-04-2005 01:48 PM

Mercyful Fate. That Medley is by far the best thing from both discs IMO

Yeah, that was my favorite cover as well.

Squirrel 01-04-2005 01:54 PM

Die, Die my Darling.

Dark Helmet 01-04-2005 01:55 PM

One Last...........Caress

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 01:59 PM

I actually love the whole of the first disc. Second disc isn't so good - especially the Motorhead covers (really badly recorded)

Shred Danson 01-04-2005 02:02 PM

The Skynyrd cover brought a tear to my eye. Not really, I just like saying that :p

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 02:49 PM

/Me loves skynyrd even if I can't pronounce their name

munky_magik 01-04-2005 02:53 PM

so, for those of you that have heard the originals, how do you think the 'Tallica versions compare? I think that in most cases they do a better job.

DisposableHeroes 01-04-2005 02:54 PM

I dont actually have the covers dics, but i do have quite a few of the covers they've done. Not much beats blasting out So What :p

Joe 01-04-2005 03:01 PM

why are we talking about skynyrd in the 'tallica thread?

led_zep_luvr 01-04-2005 03:22 PM

i like last caress

munky_magik 01-04-2005 03:25 PM
why are we talking about skynyrd in the 'tallica thread?
Because we were talking about Garage Inc. and Metallica covered "Tuesday's Gone" by Lynyrd Skynryd on Garage Inc.

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 03:25 PM

Whiskey in the Jar:
Metallica > Thin Lizzie by a long way

The Thin Lizzie version is actually quite horrible

Thats the only one I've heard both of.

I shall report back my opinions if Diamond Head play any of the songs on Garage Inc, when I see them in February (Supporting Megadeth :D )
