Its not bad at all, its quite good, but im not digging the vocals.

Tyler 01-21-2008 05:01 PM

Yeah but you fail pretty hard from what I can tell.

masscows 01-21-2008 05:03 PM

Dismember's vocals took a little while to grow on me, but they're ****ing great tbh.

beans 01-21-2008 05:18 PM

ive always liked the vocals, i thought they fit the music pretty well

i am the robots 01-21-2008 05:24 PM

publicastration 01-21-2008 11:26 PM

Seconded.

Anyway I'm downloading something which claims to be Obzen. We'll see I guess.

NemesisDivina 01-21-2008 11:28 PM

Luc do you still need that Dismember link?

publicastration 01-21-2008 11:31 PM

Naw I got it. It's good but I'm going to wait because I need the actual album art lol. I'm a bit OCD.

Also I just got the new Meshuggah. :)

1338 h4x0r 01-22-2008 12:08 AM

Listening to Dark Age's self-titled album. Very melodic DM. Actually, maybe a little too melodic. :)

Is the new Meshuggah any good?

publicastration 01-22-2008 09:35 AM

Hell yes. Their best imo.

C.O.A. I'll send it when I get home.

VomitStainedCretin 01-22-2008 10:33 AM
Hell yes. Their best imo.

C.O.A. I'll send it when I get home.
Which of their past releases would you say it's best compared to?

publicastration 01-22-2008 10:34 AM

Destroy Erase Improve, Chaosphere, Nothing(remastered) and Catch Thirty-Three. Those are the other Meshuggah albums I have.

VomitStainedCretin 01-22-2008 10:36 AM
Destroy Erase Improve, Chaosphere, Nothing(remastered) and Catch Thirty-Three. Those are the other Meshuggah albums I have.
So what, it sounds like a general mix of their past material?

publicastration 01-22-2008 10:39 AM

lol wait I thought you meant which releases am I comparing it to.

Um, it's actually pretty different, I would say maybe the best comparison would be Nothing, but imagine that with 10x the energy, and thrashier at times.

VomitStainedCretin 01-22-2008 10:45 AM

If by thrashy you mean a degree of DEI vibe, I'm sold.

publicastration 01-22-2008 10:46 AM

Yep.

The songs are quicker paced on the whole, and even the more mid tempo ones have energy if you know what I mean.

And the first track is awesome, it's pretty much a straight up Meshuggah-ized thrash track.

the2stranger 01-22-2008 10:49 AM

If you want thrashy Meshuggah, get ther first full length.
Great stuff.

Nebulous is quite a slow track on Nothing and one of my favorites.

OMG extreme post-thrash discussion in the death heads thread. :p

Toaster 01-22-2008 11:45 AM

Meshuggah have forgotten how to write a fast-paced song :(

seriously fast-paced does not mean you hit the snare more times per minute, riffs and vocal patterns have to do with it also. Jens puts forth his most plodding patterns yet

the album sounds VERY slow to me besides combustion and pravus. i would compare it to catch 33 and I. I hear almost no chaosfear or DEI.

^ yeah Nebulous is slow but damn that song is good

RetiredAt21 01-22-2008 01:40 PM

I don't like Meshuggah.

pate 01-22-2008 01:42 PM

I like Catch 33 and some of Nothing.

repcak 01-22-2008 01:42 PM
I don't like Meshuggah.
i like only two songs by them

in death is life
in death is death

RetiredAt21 01-22-2008 01:45 PM

Are Meshuggah considered death metal?

combustion07 01-22-2008 01:46 PM

I don't consider them death.

repcak 01-22-2008 01:47 PM

meshuggah are... eh.. arythmic death ^^

RetiredAt21 01-22-2008 01:49 PM
meshuggah are... eh.. arythmic death ^^
What the **** is that? "Math death"?

repcak 01-22-2008 01:53 PM

lol, my own classification :p

beans 01-22-2008 02:30 PM

i dont even know how to classify meshuggah they're not really death though

combustion07 01-22-2008 02:31 PM

I just call them metal.

beans 01-22-2008 02:41 PM

yeah, they remind me of math metal with thier lyrics and stuff, but im not sure if thats where to stick them either. yeah id just classify them as metal

Dies Irae 01-22-2008 02:42 PM

i wish i knew how to write math metal lyrics

Toaster 01-22-2008 03:07 PM

so does anyone want to discuss Meshuggah's new album without either sucking their dicks madly or being asinine
