thats good last thing you want to do is injure yourself.

And dont rush into heavy weights. /remember football tryouts.

what? no way. BS right there. Benching all the way

kurrpt 01-19-2006 03:15 PM

if you get into it heavily...

you learn not to over do it as well. If it takes you DAYS to recover, you definitely are doing something wrong

most people work separate muscle groups, alternating days
what? no way. BS right there. Benching all the way
you can bench free weights numb nuts :thumb:

Heh, I have a family friend who used to train with the army help me. Cept instead of weights, we do things with our own body weight for long periods of time, or lots of reps.
Douglas Adams \m/

I recently ordered his last book, Salmon of Doubt, and I look forward to reading it again :-)

I just went lifting for the first time...Three hours later, my arms, chest, and back are completely dead =(
I've not read that one. Only 3 or 4 of them I think, sadly. I really want to read them all all the way through at some point, but I don't own them all yet. I discovered them as is at a garage sale, but it wasn't a full set :(

I hate weight lifting, I'd rather do Karate to workout.

thats not for muscle mass, thats for TONE (definition) and stamina

That's annoying as hell though.

Jev 01-19-2006 03:19 PM

All this talk about weight lifting and such makes me sad. I'm a weed.

well, see, you are going about it the wrong way.

you see bench as in "wow, i can do this much weight!!! I'm a man"

free weights work the complementary muscle groups. With that GOOD form, its MUCH harder to do 8 reps, of say 85 pounds, compared to 125 pounds on bench

that CONTROL requires muscles that you cant work out with a bar alone, like you would think

well cardio and lifting are two very different components of working out

gmoneyguy 01-19-2006 03:28 PM

You only max out to see how much you start out on.

16%? Get off the forums and into that gym now!

gmoneyguy 01-19-2006 03:43 PM

Muscle is a matabolic tissue. You build muscle you metabolism boosts and loose weight faster.

How tall are you?

Aw3someman 01-19-2006 03:48 PM

edit- damnit guitrguy u beat me to the question.

Weight depends on heights but generally 126 is a good for someone around 17-19 i think it was. But the best ratio is weight : Height

Jev 01-19-2006 03:49 PM

5"7.

The weight:height charts told me I was the right weight

gmoneyguy 01-19-2006 03:50 PM

After 15 its really just height to weight comparison. I don't think age is factor after that point.

kurrpt 01-19-2006 03:50 PM

damn, you make me feel tall

/5'9"

anywho, works out

PEACE
