Decrepit Birth are pretty decent. Never really got into them that much but I don't mind rockin' out to 'em.
They do put on a hella wicked live show though. Bill, the vocalist is super chillin' too so it was fun hanging out with him and my buddies in Montreal a few summers ago. |
There's a lot of not so good bands that put on a live shows, I can see it.

Its completely uncompromising, and 100% true to the "death metal" tag. |
That's why it's boring, we've had death metal already, we need something fresh.
|
Meh. Its not boring to me. But I do not listen to one style of music for long periods of time.
Considering I will jump from jazz, to rock, then to classical, and then some metal, Decrepit Birth keep me interested enough. Its also good to hear a band who is not trying to re-invent the wheel all the time, and simply refining their art. But thats just my view. :p |
Well, bands that could be considered refining their art would moreso be Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation, who have, you know, been around long enough for it to be considered "their" art.
I'm in a generic DM band though, so I'm being hypocritical. |

For me CC are rather boring now. They are trying to become more modern sounding, but are still around ten years behind. Their older stuff is still great though. Suffocation are good though. But for me, they aren't really pushing the boundaries too much. And your own band is only as generic as you make it :p. |
Robots I've never heard your band I'm assuming you have a myspace or something?
|
I can't help the music, I just do vocals.
|

You any good at the vocals? Do you have any samples I could hear? :) |

Just thought I'd point out that you posted this while sporting a Through the Eyes of the Dead avatar. The DB preorders look awesome 30 bucks for a cd, shirt, poster and other stuff. |
The new DB album is finished? Wow.... I am out of touch!

They've got a distinct sound. :) And my band: http://www.myspace.com/paraphiliasoontochange |

And my band: http://www.myspace.com/paraphiliasoontochange
Its pretty cool stuff dude. Kinda generic yes, but at least you are executing it well. There are a lot of bands who are generic (a lot more so than your band) and can't even play it well. The vocals are pretty cool. I'm more of a singing person myself, but I like the occasional growl. Good to hear you mix it up a bit too instead of doing only lows. |
I like switching it up more often, but the guitarist was like "we want mostly growling."
|
Has he heard Psycroptic before? A band that proved switching it up could work, and work well.
|
Psycroptic is sort of the but of a lot of the bands' jokes. I've gotten them more into stuff like JFAC, TTEOTD, and Bring Me The Horizon lately though, so they let me do more varied stuff. |
Really? I like Psycroptic....
They are also top blokes. You heard the last album? The vocals are a little less all over the shop. Though I am weird with vocals I think. I tend to like the inhale style a fair bit, and all that gurgling kinda stuff. |
Chalky is a kickass vocalist. One of the few really tech death metal bands I like is Psycroptic.

Ah, Chalky is no longer their vocalist though. They have Jason on vocals now. He is good, not as creative as Chalky though. But much more of a stage man, so it kinda evens out I suppose. |
Chalk's voice crack's waaaay too much.
|
Doesn't matter it sounds really cool haha.
|
I don't like how painful it sounds. I imagine my throat bleeding when I hear him.
|
Have you heard Jason on vocals? More solid sound.
|
He's more solid, but he doesn't fit their music, which isn't very good to begin with.
|
Yeah. I think he suited kinda well. Or I just got used to him.
I have seen him live HEAPS though. I find the recording to be completely lacking, and makes him sound mono toned, where as live he is a lot more present. |
That makes me curious to see them live. If they play in the area some time, I might check them out.
|
Ah, see, being an Aussie, seeing them is like seeing a local cover band. It happens all the time, and its nothing to get excited over. hehe.
|
I see. Sounds like God Forbid in the states. Ugh, I can't count the times I had to see them and didn't want to.
|
Chalky is an excellent live vocalist I thought. I remember he used to show up on stage in pluggers (flip flops). Made me laugh. Peppiat is ok, but live he can't match the speed of Chalky in some places. I agree that he is better live than on record though.
<3 Psycroptic. God Forbid suck arse. And tonight I will finally recieve my copy of The Dead's album. I whored them around here before but I don't think any of you took notice. I probably won't listen to anything else for the next week. |
