DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci has posted the following message in his official forum:
"Just a little update on what I've been up to lately. I know it's been some time since the last one! I've been enjoying some much needed time off since the end of DREAM THEATER's 'Octavarium' world tour this past April. It was quite a long tour as most of you know and we were fortunate enough not only to play in front of many familiar faces, but to brand new audiences around the world as well. Our forthcoming DVD from that tour, titled 'Score', will be out on August 29th and I'm really psyched about it! It was shot on the last date of the tour at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. I know a lot of you were there! Check out Mike Portnoy and myself hosting 'Metal Mania' along with a special abbreviated preview of 'Score' this weekend on VH1 Classic. "This summer I've been basically hanging out with my wife and kids enjoying the hot weather activities, working out and playing some guitar. Everything I love to do! In just a couple of weeks now I'll be back in the studio with the boys working on the next DREAM THEATER musical adventure. This fall I will also take part in two G3 tours: One in South America and the other in Australia. My first time down under! Both should be a lot of fun as always. Finally, the Ernie Ball crew and I have been finallizing the details on the next incarnation of the John Petrucci Music Man signature guitar and hope to announce its debut very soon."
Check this **** out:D |
a new record next year?
Let's hope so. I'm already getting excited. |
Hey, if you like Dream Theater, read the Mastodon interview in the most recent Guitar World.
Some choice samples: GW: You guys definitely have prog elements to your sound, and yet you're exciting and valid- you're cool. Why do you think you're cooler than a band like, say, Dream Theater? Brett Hinds: Because we don't have a little Chinese girl playing bass! [laughs] GW: Yikes! Hinds: And they dress all gay, too. I mean, look at them: they wear those cheesy leather pants. The lead singer especially: he's got that really gay thing going on with his hair. Plus, he sings like a fucking opera singer and ****. Their hair, their clothes, their music... They're gay.
That's it now I'm boycotting Mastodon. |
Ok i did buy both the dvd and cd and it was like maybe 40 bucks at the most together and it was totally worth it. because when i bought Live at budokan i was mad that Itunes is like nazis against having all dream theater songs for sale and i couldnt buy them seprately from the live at budokan album.
|
that's some great development from them there, i'm already excited about their new record. Score is out here!

Has the DVD got a commentary on it?
|
I hope so.
I'll probablly get it a week late though :( |
Nah, I don't think it has commentary.
Everything I've been hearing about it is EXTREMELY positive though! :D CAN'T WAIT!!! |
:(
Commentary makes it so much better. I guess it'll be alright on it's own though. |
the documentry should be enough to quench commentary thirst poseeblay. although the commentry on LSFNY was pretty good...
|
Yeh, I actually only watched it with the commentry a few days ago, totally worth the hour or so
i guess a i can forgive a fellow Dream Theater fan.
btw didja see yourself+the shoutout/sign? (it was you right?)
Thank you! It was me with the sign, but I fear I may have said too much already. |
Was it on it?
I demand to know! |
Imitation, I don't recognize you without the Tony Shalhoub avatar. :(
|
"Also, pay special attention to the bands "thank you's" to the crowd at the end of the night. Due to union fees at RCMH the band went 3 minutes past the 11PM curfew saying goodbye to the sell out crowd, costing them an extra $30,000! This strict union policy is the same reason why when I introed the band that night I had to do it from off the stage instead of on it".
Fuck me  |
It cost the $30 grand extra? damn that sucks
|
Yeah for 3 minutes.
I spose it gets bands to stick to curfews. |
Picked up Score DVD today. Incredible.
Considering I was there in orchestra seating makes it 2000 times better.:thumb: |
