Sad But True 08-23-2009 08:50 AM
Pretty soon, yeah. I really want to get back to uni, I'm so bored round here, there's absolutely nothing to do. Even recording stuff is starting to get grating. Hows shit with you?
I'm starting at Keele uni this September, 3 years late but whatever, doing English and History. I'm hoping to get into the halls as living at home is driving me nuts. I'm recording and mixing my mate's band this week, started last week, with my ghetto arse setup: Record dry into pro tools, reamp at my house using pod and Audition, mix the drums the drummer programmed in FL, bang it all together and hope.

But my car is in a semi-working order so all's good.
which uni are you at? i'm on my BS in Computer Science (ewww) and El. Eng. (yay!) atm, starting my third year in 3 weeks, if I've not failed my exams, that is.
I go to West Virginia University.

Aug 31st is my 1st day of classes as a junior. i changed my major from biology to police studies :)

Yer man, halls are awesome. Provided your uni halls are nice. I got put in the shite halls at newcastle because I was a second choice student XD

sup lod, just got out of jail cause a fucking cop busted me after drinking 2 beers and then driving, wtf is his problem?
did 12 hours and now I have to pay around 300 bucks to get my car back!!

purple_hazer 08-23-2009 11:18 AM

jail is super lame isnt it mota?

i guess the only cool thing about jail for me is that i went to the jail that frank zappa was busted in multiple times

motogrifo 08-23-2009 11:27 AM

actually, I made some friends, guys in similar situations, but 12 hours sleeping on fucking concrete bunks is a lot
LFD your posts are always inexplicably long. I'm used to the Lod just being one liners, Al being drunk, mota having sex, then me n Zeke nattering.
I'm long winded, and if I actually allot myself time my posts often go on many wonderful and often random twists and turns before actually arriving at the point of the post.

For the love of all things holy, go back... focus on forensics or something and be one of the cool people in the police department.

One of my friends is actually studying to be just that, she loves it past the fact it's pretty much pure torture. Unlike me, who just finds my major to be pure torture and I often wonder why I was talked in to taking it simply because I liked messing around with electronics and knowing how they worked. I really had no intention of learning how each and every bloody part started out, works, and how to do the Calc 1/2/3+ math which is required to figure out something that I will probably never actually use in my life past college.

Seriously, any math that engineers need after college has been neatly organized into handbooks, I really don't need to take 4 ****ing Calculus classes.

My Office Depots in Baton Rouge are so bloody lazy. So they have this set up, that I know is really complex and all but still. You print out a sheet of paper that says bring this to the cashier to buy your item, one for every one you have in stock, and you put it in a little pouch that is on/next to/etc. the floor model. When the sheets of paper are gone, you know they're out of stock.

I just spent 2 1/2 hours in Office Depot, tried to buy 3 ****ing things, all of them had like 10+ little sheets of paper stuffed in to their pockets, all ****ing out of stock. I don't enjoy hearing, "oh we're out of stock, but if you want we can have it shipped to your apartment for $xx more."

No, I came to the store to buy something you **** heads, and I don't want to spend almost half of what I'm already spending just so you can ****ing ship it to my ****ing apartment because you're too ****ing lazy to ****ing have it ****ing stocked and ****ing dash my ****ing hopes with shoving as many slits of ****ing paper in the little ****ing sleeve as you can ****ing possibly fit in the ****er.

// Oh the F-word is so versatile.

motogrifo 08-23-2009 07:17 PM

it is, but you only used it in one way

Left Face Down 08-23-2009 08:10 PM

Now I'm not an English major, but I'm pretty sure I used it in two ways. As a word that shows emphasis and as a word to describe something.

In other news I some how manage to eat my own words in frustration, reorganizing my bookshelf so it will fit everything I have... at least so far. I'm only done with half of it, but I managed to shove the majority of stuff that was laying around in the bottom two shelves. Those of course being the most packed because they have 5 1/2 years worth of text books and at least 4 years worth of notes on them.

I don't know how I do it, but I have a knack for shoving way too much stuff into a small space yet some how keeping it organized. I mean I have no room for this semesters' notebooks/binders, but I did manage to shove the books on the bottom shelf. Of course I did leave out my collection of Guitar tab booklets, though they have their own container and worst case scenario they just get thrown in my closet next to my guitar.

purple_hazer 08-23-2009 08:12 PM

instead of versatile its more like its just really really usable

Modern Iconoclast 08-23-2009 09:54 PM

Oh such a great movie, though that guy wasn't the brightest ever. He shoots the cat, splattering the wall with it's blood and he's like, "Is it dead?!".

No, no my friend it's not dead... it's just been turned in to thousands of mini-kitties which are floating in the air. Don't breathe them in or they may try to exact revenge on you for what you have done!

Aes820 08-23-2009 10:48 PM

Everyone always talks about the cat bit.
But really, it's one of the less impressive bits of the movie.

The following scene after that cat bit, the morning, when Rocco is about to head off to the Deli. And the brothers discuss with him the possibility that his mafia pals were setting him up. That's one of the most incredible sections of dialogues ever put on film. I'm srs.

actually forensics would b rly sick but im sooooooooooo bad at math. like i took remedial math and passed it on my 3rd try lol. and im also just terrible at chemistry, i got a B in the 1st level and C+ in the 2nd level. imo, its not worth the stress so i'd rather take law classes which would be more related to wut i wanna do.

Right now, as I'm writing this, I'm wearing a shirt that has Rocco on the front and the back says "Is it dead...?" lol. Also, every time I get an error message on my PC the sound that plays is Murphy saying "I can't believe that just ****in' happened!". Yeah I think I like that movie a little too much...

The math can get pretty rough though if you get into information transfer or pretty much anything numeric. And yay, in the next semester I'll be a teaching assistant in calculus for natural scientists! :chug:

Oh alcohol, it is something those who attend Louisiana State University know well. Hell, usually on a football game day you can go around and get free beer/hard alcohol simply by being nice. Every one who has alcohol is usually too drunk to care, and too drunk to realize they have no idea who the hell you are.

Cops could give out so many under age drinking tickets, it'd be scary if they actually gave a damn. I'm sure he wouldn't want his superiors knowing, but freshman year me and some friends actually did a shot of vodka with an on-duty cop who was making sure nothing got out of hand on campus, a.k.a. walking aimlessly around.

Playboy does an annual poll of the top party schools in the country. A couple years ago WVU was nowhere on the list, but there was an asterisk next to the #1 school. A footnote at the bottom said "We would've included WVU on this list but it wouldn't be fair to have professionals competing against amateurs" lol.

Hey yall. Haven't been around for a while.

****, when september starts I am teaching guitar lessons, plus working a paid internship for English 100 classes, plus taking five classes, plus volunteering as a tutor/mentor at the university.

When will I get to practice guitar???

fingers mccoy 08-27-2009 04:46 PM

in the guitar lessons

you learn a lot from helping others

Left Face Down 08-28-2009 06:30 PM

Hell man, you must have some easy classes if you're not failing out. =p

Me and my fellow engineers laugh at the idea of holding a job and going to school. One week we'll have no time what so ever free, all spent doing some kind of hw or project. Then the next week we will have nothing. It doesn't condone a proper working environment. Hell, at the end of last semester I pulled 37 hours in the week before the last trying to finish off a semester project for a micro-technology course. I'm glad my teachers had as much left in them as I did, cause the hw I did that week was horrible... but my teachers were like, "I'm tired of this semester, if you did it then I gave you 100."

Sure the Chronic appendicitis and getting my appendix out over spring break, oh spent my SB hopped up on hydrocodone laying in bed, didn't help matters but it was still a hell hole of a semester. Probably the busiest semester I've ever had.

In other, even less interesting news, I'm having a serious case of senioritis this semester so far. Two of my engineering classes are said to be easy, one that is tough so far hasn't gotten tough (actually kind of enjoy it), and then I have my two 1000 lvl classes that I'm taking because I needed to be a full time student for the government to pay me money.

That and there are like... 20 girls, probably total, in the EE student population... plus the ECE student population (my two majors). So those classes are my zone out and oggle girls who by this point in time are probably 4 years younger than me... classes.

Plus I mean how can you pass up a class that is about learning... how to learn? 3/4 of the students are girls, most of which are hot, the teacher is retiring after this semester so he doesn't give a rats' donkey about the "proper" way to teach the class and so on and so forth.

*sigh* I need a girl... downing the beers I have left over from my random buying of beers to try out new beers has left me unsatisfied. Totally tempted to walk to wal-mart and buy some more beer before it closes.

One of those up sides to literally living next to a wal-mart. Got a Wal-Mart neighbor-hood market (basically Wal-mart's version of CVS) in the strip mall next to my apartments, just got to find the motivation to walk over. lol

Your Wal-Mart closes? Lol.

Left Face Down 08-28-2009 10:33 PM

As I said, it's their version of a CVS... a Wal-Mart "Neighborhood Market" (food + pharmacy). It's only open from 6 a.m. - midnight. However the actual Wal-Marts, which are not with in such easy walking distance, are open 24 hours.

I think they close at midnight because here it is against the law to sell alcohol after midnight, and they stock it. Though then again the big Wal-Marts sell it too, but mine seems to have a larger selection. =)

Edit: and more beer is bought... from my apartment and back in 12 minutes. I am a ninja!

Edit2: you know why they call them Beer Goggles? Because you only get them when you drink beer. Damn my vision, it's bad enough as it is I don't need it decreasing thanks to stupid beer!

That and the best way to type when you're drunk, at least for me, is to close my eyes and let my fingers and mind do the typing. Yeah, there is a mistake every once and a while but it is no where near, ironically, the amount of mistakes I make when I have my eyes open.

Edit3: I remember the days when I would type a message and the Lod would be a half a page, if not a full page, away from where I was supposed to post. I... miss... those... days. =/
