"Comment la mort ou la gloire sont devenus juste une autre histoire'.
Is that "Death or glory becomes just another story" translated into French?

Coma_Girl 03-18-2005 04:35 PM

guns_of_brixton 03-18-2005 04:40 PM

guns_of_brixton 03-19-2005 11:24 AM

Toppers Cool Quote

"It's taken Joe's death to make me realise just how big The Clash were. We were a political band and Joe was the one who wrote the lyrics. Joe was one of the truest guys you could ever meet. If he said 'I am behind you', then you knew he meant it 100 per cent."

Clash Album Help

My favorite Clash CD is by far their first self-titled one, other than that I can't seem to get into it. I have 'Combat Rock' as well which I can't get into.

Any suggestions for an album I should hear that will redeem themselves?

guns_of_brixton 03-20-2005 09:58 AM

You could try Give 'em Enough Rope (my avatar), it sounds like their self titled but was produced "better". By better, I mean it has better sound quality. Its not as good as their self titled, but still a very good album.

sketchyjoe 03-20-2005 10:35 AM

I hate the production on GEER. It spoiled the album in my opinion.

CombatRock 03-20-2005 11:06 AM

i have only heard a few song from that album..but the ones i heard were really good songs...whats wrong with the production on it?

sketchyjoe 03-20-2005 11:16 AM

It was too polished IMO but maybe I should give it another listen. It's been ages since I listened to it.

guns_of_brixton 03-20-2005 12:03 PM

It was produced by Sandy Pearlman, the same guy who did Blue Oyster Cult. The guitars were too loud and ther wasn't enough bass in my opinion, and the vocals were too polished also.

sketchyjoe 03-20-2005 12:07 PM

He didn't get the point of The Clash. He was trying to make them more radio-friendly.

guns_of_brixton 03-20-2005 12:12 PM

And it didn't even work. It peaked at like 128 on the charts in America.

CDR_Cool 03-20-2005 02:29 PM
He didn't get the point of The Clash. He was trying to make them more radio-friendly.
do you get the point of The Clash? :p

CombatRock 03-20-2005 02:40 PM

on the clash (uk verison) is white riot played live..if any one has heard that version white riot sounds live or somthing of that nature

Coma_Girl 03-20-2005 03:13 PM
"Joe was one of the truest guys you could ever meet."
I never met Joe but I'm sure it's true, and that's why the world is more miserable than ever since he died.True people are hard to find.

guns_of_brixton 03-20-2005 03:17 PM
on the clash (uk verison) is white riot played live..if any one has heard that version white riot sounds live or somthing of that nature
I don't think I've ever heard it. I only have the US version.

CombatRock 03-20-2005 03:36 PM

ooh..is the us version like the one on Essential Clash?

Coma_Girl 03-20-2005 03:42 PM

i cant find the UK version. :upset:

yesterday my friend told me he tried to buy me a clash record...one original pressing of london calling that one of his friend found somewhere...but someone else bought it

guns_of_brixton 03-20-2005 03:46 PM

Original pressing... wow.

And to Travis, yea, the US version is the one with the sirens at the beginning.

By the way has anybody ever heard the version of Career Opportunities on Sandinista? Its really funny .

Forest_Fire 03-20-2005 04:13 PM

I heard a clip of it and thught "What the hell?" The other version of Career Opprtunities is one of my favourite songs

Forest_Fire 03-20-2005 04:15 PM

By the way, thanks a lot White Riot and Andy for helpling me with my project :thumb:

guns_of_brixton 03-20-2005 04:16 PM

I think the guy who sings it is like 7 years old. Sandinista has alot of weird songs.
