(i'd like to hear YOUR band then)
My band only does acoustic covers of Duran Duran songs.

br3ad_man 10-21-2004 05:39 AM
Thankyou my pretty.

You're such a meanie :p

Tapeworm 10-21-2004 07:15 AM

Does anyone here have the Evermore album yet?

Is it worth buying?

I hear it's very special, but I is low on cash...
THE VINES!!! craig nicholls is god.
I like The Vines too. But not as much as I did a little while ago. Winning Days just wasn't on the same level as Highly Evolved. I still like them though.

Tomahawk 10-21-2004 11:59 AM

I'm heavily into the Pixies right now. I finally got Come On Pilgrim, and it's just reminded me why I love this band so goddamn much. The Holiday Song is so good it makes me cry tears of awesomeness.

Omnium 10-21-2004 07:29 PM

The two artists I'm currently OBSESSED with are Primus and Aphex Twin.

Primus albums I'm hammering:

Sailing The Seas Of Cheese (Check the songs "Tommy The Cat" and "Jerry Was A Race Car Driver")
Pork Soda (Check the songs "My Name Is Mud" "DMV" and "Mr. Krinkle")

Aphex Twin albums I'm hammering:

Selected Ambient Works Volume II (You need to listen to this as a whole, it's truly wonderful)

Luxor 10-21-2004 07:39 PM

Today I have listened to:

Elliott Smith - XO
Radiohead - The Bends
..And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Souce Tags & Codes

Happymeal 10-21-2004 07:47 PM

Ghahh, I'm still deciding whether I should get Source Tags And Codes or Psyopus' Ideas of Reference in the weekend. It's so mind-boggling for poor blokes:(

Zappa 10-21-2004 08:19 PM

^I don't really like either of those much.

Well_Respected_Man 10-21-2004 08:31 PM

I just got Start A People Black Moth Super Rainbow
http://www.blackmothsuperrainbow.com/disco1.htm

and The Strangtecular Band's Self Titled
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/strangtecular

I have hit an obscure indie jackpot.

Happymeal 10-21-2004 08:34 PM

^Good one:) I haven't been epitonicking in a while..

Hmm, Zappa, ever listened to Animal Collective?

Well_Respected_Man 10-21-2004 08:37 PM

*buts in front of Zappa*

I HAVE! I just downloaded some yesterday, It's okay. It could grow on me in a bit though.

Happymeal 10-21-2004 08:41 PM

I'm really really liking them so much now, I've dl'ed most of Sung Tongs, they're weird but pretty cool, good high/drinking music I say.

And when you're name's Panda Bear, nobody can resist you. Secks appeal++

RIPJoeStrummer 10-22-2004 09:59 AM

I've really been getting into Grandaddy in the past week or so. I've only downloaded like ten songs but I know I have to buy an album now. Most likely Sumday unless someonehas a better suggestion.

Tomahawk 10-22-2004 10:02 AM

I'm continuing my Pixies binge. But I've also been listening to the Breeders, and Frank Black's solo work. Ya know, to keep it diverse.

RIPJoeStrummer 10-22-2004 11:09 AM

Nice, I'm not crazy about the Breeders or the Catholics but they're definitely worth a listen every now and again. Cannonball is an awesome song. :)

Tomahawk 10-22-2004 11:11 AM

Frank Black's self titled and "Teenager of the Year" are really good CDs. They're alot like Trompe Le Monde, but with more acoustic guitar.

br3ad_man 10-22-2004 05:46 PM

I'm digging Tori Amos

rhythm lost 10-22-2004 06:30 PM

I'm digging Damien Rice and Elliot Smith tonight.

Zappa 10-22-2004 07:21 PM

I think I heard a bit of Animal Collective. I cannot remember what I thought of it, which is a bad sign.

This week's in-school picks have been as follows:

Today was REM, Queens of the Stone Age, and then Talking Heads

Yesterday was Beck, then Minutemen, then Miles Davis, then Return to Forever

The day before my iPod had no batts.

The day before was Public Enemy, then Nomeansno, then Frank Zappa, then Idiot Flesh, then Alice in Chains

Day before was Busta Rhymes, then the Stooges, then Crowded House, then Horace Silver, then Nick Drake, then Talking Heads, then Frank Zappa, then Eric Dolphy

Happymeal 10-22-2004 08:47 PM

Zappa's solo stuff, especially Clean It Up:cool:

edit: when I said Zappa, I meant Alex:cool:

br3ad_man 10-23-2004 03:57 AM

"Stumble and Fall" by Razorlight has been playing a lot on my computer lately. It's annoyingly good.

Zappa 10-23-2004 08:25 AM

:o.

OrbDragon 10-23-2004 09:58 AM

I'm loving Midnite Vultures by Beck...a genius pop record. I'm also into Dälek, Joy Division, Calexico, Sneaker Pimps, The Cramps, Nine Inch Nails and Elysian Fiels today.

The Styrofoam record is good too.

Zappa 10-23-2004 11:11 AM

"The World is Yours" by Nas is a cool track.

Dark Hero 10-23-2004 12:01 PM
Neutral Milk Hotel
You're turning into a little hippie aren't you. ;)

Zappa 10-23-2004 05:21 PM

The band Neutral Milk Hotel totally sucks.

el doctor 10-23-2004 05:30 PM
The band Neutral Milk Hotel totally sucks.
 I like them, but at times when I try to analyze the music, I'll stop and think "What the hell am I listening to?"

That whole E6 label is just evil though... (even though I happen to really like most of the bands)

Anyway, lately the album I've been listening to the most is Dorothy Ashby's "afro Harping". I'm playing a song in jazz band that sounds similar to one of the songs, so listening to this album is such a great excuse of "mental practice".

Tangy zizzle 10-23-2004 05:44 PM

^^^ No way man.

el doctor 10-23-2004 06:22 PM

Oh, I'm sorry that my opinion's wrong. Assuming that you were referring to the E6 comment:

You see, while I really like most of the music on the E6 label, I greatly dislike how people worhsip a label. They're the pride and joy of every closed minded indie kid, and it annoys me that apparently if you dislike one of the bands on that whole label, your opinion is suddenly invalid. So why did I call it evil? Simply for the fact that, in terms of music, it makes the narrow minded think they're even more high and mighty.

Tangy zizzle 10-23-2004 06:53 PM

I was actually referring to Zappa's comment dude.

Iai 10-23-2004 07:03 PM

Back on topic.

I've been really getting back into X-Japan these last couple of days. Rusty Nail, Art Of Life, Crucify My Love.....I forgot just how damn good they are.

Tangy zizzle 10-23-2004 07:11 PM

X-Japan? Never heard of them. What are they like?

Happymeal 10-23-2004 07:12 PM

I borrowed from the library:

Ani Difranco - So Much Shouting, So Much Laughter
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
The Cure - Greatest Hits
Kyuss - ..And the Circus Leaves Town

Tangy zizzle 10-23-2004 07:19 PM
