can someone tab out aces high
im stuck at the 0:25 (bad tabs) |
wrong forum dude.
and, clive left way before his prime. if he would have stayed in maiden, who know what he would have become? also, check out ghengis khan, drifter and gangland for clive's really good drumming (IMHO). also, plz go reply to review of Iron Maiden S/T... i really want to know if i'm a good reviewer and, if you don't like iron maiden, why are you looking at this thread? so plz reply. thankee. |
The winner is : Clive (reason : he made up the Run To The Hills Intro)
Are you sure Steve Harris didn't think of a drum intro himself? I would give Clive more credit for "Gangland;" it's not a very good song except for the drum intro to THAT one. |
McBrain...
Clive was great, more of an agressive power drummer...but with Maiden's sound when Bruce hit the band they became more melodic and less agressive (good change IMO) and Nicko's triplets on the ride and galloping double bass fits the band like a glove. |
the name says it all folks... burr was great indeed but frail is right, nicko's style fits the band better now
|

er... he doesn't use a double bass. never has and never will. Yes, even on "face in the sand" and "the wickerman", it's all one foot.
|
Nicko didn't use a double bass till 20 years after he joined the band.
like i said, how it fits the band "now" i couldnt immagine clive playing on Brave New World or on Dance of Death...and it sure Nicko used double bass on Caught Somewhere in Time, approx. 3 years after he was in the band. basically, i dont see Clive sound being necessary for how Iron Maiden came to sound as their careers went on. |
Dude, I'll buy one off you. Name the price.
hehe, sorry im collecting... using one, and keep the other in mint condition... i think they still have on www.whatrecords.co.uk ...they had last time i checked... |
Nicko doesn't use a double bass! He probably has the best bass-drum pedal technique in the world... all rolls etc are done with a single bass drum. You can see on the maiden site, it's got The Wickerman live (Drum cam) and you can see he does the chorus with one foot.
|
its true... the only song nicko have used Doubble drum for are Face in the sand... (YES HE DID!!!)
|
Thanks for the info Eddie, but back to the topic. It's true. Nicko's only double bass is for Face in the Sand. If you still don't believe any of us, watch Rock In Rio.
|
... A) i have rock in rio, B) Face in the sand was released AFTER rock in rio.... dumbarse
|
my drummer friend told me that Nicko used "ludwig speed king" single pedals, the same ones Bonham did and that you can get speed on those things that are unthought of on most single pedals...overall, Nicko's drumming is one of a kind :)
|
who cares if he does or doesnt!!! clansman y dont u just buy it from a shop?
|
^^Because he doesn't live in the UK and it's only available here.

interview with Nicko taken after the release of DOD, in which he claims he still only uses 1 bass drum pedal because 2 pedals would be too much trouble. go figure. |
It says he only uses a single pedal, not that he's only ever used a single pedal.
The intro is a long intrumental piece with a few Celtic nods and grows into a great crescendo, with Nicko using a double-kick for the first time on an Iron Maiden recording – although he admitted himself that he had suffered a lot playing this song, and would be rather pleased not to have to play it live, which is a shame as it would be a great moment during a concert.
|
i can see him not using one in the 80's and early 90's but on the chorus of "out of the silent planet" hes doing galloping triplets...and i dont see WHY a drummer would go through all the trouble of using a single bass pedal when they could use the double. a double and a single have two different sounds because of the timing, say what you will about it im not believing it.

I have Rock In Rio and I am fully aware that Face in the Sand was released after Rock In Rio. To be precise it was released on September 9, 2003. But I was clarifying that he doesn't use double bass and was using Rock In Rio as a mock verification. Now if you still don't believe me, then go out and buy the new DVD being released in time for Christmas....GAW!!! |
Gaw?
eh... well, i dunno. i DO know that out of the silent planet was with a single bass drum pedal (even though the bass drum is faster then on face in the sand) coz you can hear him opening and closing the hi-hats. |
Hey guys,
I love Iron Maiden, but can't say as I know to much about them. Anything specific I should know? |
know? ok... there's the greatest band in the history of forever, they've got the best bassists and vocalist in rock/metal today, and probably the best drummer aswell. the guitarists are amazing to (all three of them). the band was founded in 1973 by Steve Harris, called Gypsy's Kiss. The band released it's first album in 1980, and the only members who are still in the band who played on that record is the bassist steve harris and the guitarist dave murray.
that enough for you? |
Thx,
I hope I get to know a lot about them. I just did start listening to them, I almost got beat up at a concert when I told a guy i didn't know who they are. |
ahah.... there's some background info in my review of the self-titled album in the cd review forum... you should go check it out.
|
I will
|
Well, if Iron Maiden's bassist can play with inhuman speed and precision with only two fingers, then I'm sure their drummer can do the same thing with a single bass pedal. This band is used to doing more with less.
|
Nicko McBrain is my all-time favourite drummer (not that i play drums, i play guitar)
Who is everyones favourite maiden guitarist?? I personally like Adrian Smith the best overall, probably cos of his style. |
I know its a hard decision but what maiden song does everyone think is the best in thier opinions, im going to have to go with hallow by thy name, or wait um the trooper, wait.. Aces high.. **** i cant decide...
|
the best song is Alexander the Great
