I would suggest Hate Crew Deathroll.
Hate Crew Deathroll is awesome, but I don't think it shows the best that Bodom can be. For me, that album would be either Follow the Reaper or Hatebreeder; those are just unbelieveably masterful. Something Wild would be a good choice too.

flamesofbodom 07-01-2005 09:34 AM

For a first impression get Trashed, Lost, And Strung-out. That way if you dont like em you didnt spend a whole lot of money :p

I know it's not their best, but it's the most accessable. Vocals aren't as harsh, keyboards aren't used as much, etc.

ArcLite 07-01-2005 10:16 AM

Just get FTR. If you don't like FTR, don't get Something Wild or Hatebreeder Either. If you still want to try 'em out, get Trashed, Lost, and Strung Out. If you like that you'll like Hate Crew Deathroll.

Thor 07-01-2005 10:31 AM

Yeah, get FTR because that seems to be the album that everyone talks about. After that I would suggest Something Wild, then Hatebreeder, then Hatecrew Deathroll. I thoroughly enjoy all of their albums, so you won't go wrong with any one you get.

IheartSP 07-01-2005 10:40 AM

Hatebreeder is my favorite, and each album really offers something different. Follow the Reaper is less agressive, but less powermetal based than Hatebreeder. HCDR is really influenced by punk, and Something Wild is a bit more atmospheric.

AA-12 07-01-2005 10:52 AM

I love the Black Metal feel of Something Wild.

The Buttloaves 07-01-2005 10:53 AM

Hatebreeder > all
It has a cool classical feel to it

Thor 07-01-2005 11:11 AM

I prefer Something Wild just because it has some of Cob's most badass songs on them. These would be Deadnight Warrior, Red Light In My Eyes 1 and 2 , and Lake Bodom. All of those are great songs.

RLNME 2's intro is badass. I love how Alexi Laiho used one of Mozart's riffs.

Thor 07-01-2005 11:20 AM

Yeah, that part is what makes the song truly awesome.

I just realized how good of a song "In The Shadows" is. Anyone else really like this song?

steve-0 07-01-2005 11:57 AM

bodom is dece

children of decadence is my favorite

steve-0 07-01-2005 11:58 AM

hate crew death roll is the best album

AA-12 07-01-2005 12:03 PM

^^ Try to not double post.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-01-2005 12:16 PM

I do think that Hatebreeder is the awesomest album...closely followed by Follow the Reaper. I can't believe I waited until now to buy it though.

Is anyone interested in a Children of Bodom theme I created? Complete with Bodom sounds, icons, wallpapers and pictures for a picture slide screensaver. Let me know and I will upload it.

AA-12 07-01-2005 12:20 PM

I'll take it.

I got the Children of Bodom original demo, Downfall EP, and 2 bootlegs today.

It was always one of my favorites on Something Wild, it never gets a mention. Speaking of which, anyone else have any underrated Bodom songs? Mine are

Towards Dead End
Northern Comfort
Children of Bodom
Warheart
Downfall

Lucky. I don't have any of those.

I'll have it up in a little bit.

I have basically every Bodom song they've ever recorded, so yeah, you could say I have underrated ones. :p

I'll upload all the EP's/bootlegs sometime.

IheartSP 07-01-2005 12:26 PM

I meant do you have any underrated ones to list, I don't care if you own them.

AA-12 07-01-2005 12:29 PM

Oh, gotcha. I thought you meant do we own any.

I'd pretty much agree with you, especially TDE, it's my favorite song currently.

IheartSP 07-01-2005 12:30 PM

Towards Dead End is an awesome song but I never hear anyone talk about it. The leads are really awesome, plus the vocals in the chorus are really cool. I love the powermetal feel to it.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-01-2005 12:31 PM

Underrated? I don't know. I love

Children of Bodom
Red Light In My Eyes Pt. I
Kissing the Shadows
Mask of Sanity
Lil' Bloodred Riding Hood
You're Better Off Dead

I don't know which ones you would consider underrated.

Here is the theme for anyone that wants it.

Read the "How To" so that you know how everything works. :thumb: Enjoy.

IheartSP 07-01-2005 12:34 PM

Children of Bodom I think is a really underrated song, I think it may even be the best example of their work. The song really has that "Bodom" sound. Lil' Bloodred Riding Hood and You're Better Off Dead are slightly underrated. I think the other ones you listed aren't. Kissing the Shadows is probably their most highly rated song, but I think it's fair because I think it is their best, but unlike Children of Bodom it doesn't sound much like their other stuff, so I wouldn't tell someone to listen to that to see what they really sound like.

IheartSP 07-01-2005 12:35 PM

I'd love to put the theme on my computer but other people use it and they'd get mad.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-01-2005 12:36 PM
I'd love to put the theme on my computer but other people use it and they'd get mad.
Do it anyway with a "hastia vitu!" to them! :p JK. It's actually pretty cool. Took me forever to do though.

I do think that Children of Bodom is an underrated song. I'd never heard of it before I bought Hatebreeder. The songs off of Hate Crew Deathroll I'd never heard of either, and they are my favorite songs off the album. I love the melodies in them; especially Lil' Bloodred Riding Hood.

IheartSP 07-01-2005 12:37 PM

Maybe on my other computer I will put it on.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-01-2005 01:15 PM
Maybe on my other computer I will put it on.
Sweet. I love the sound I put for the empty trash can. Everytime the trash can empties Alexi says "shut the fuck up, retard!" in Suomi and Janne laughs in the background. It's awesome. It's from Trashed in Helsinki.

IheartSP 07-01-2005 01:18 PM

I hate having sounds for things that don't normally have sounds. I always delete things like minimize and maximize and exit sounds, they annoy the hell out of me.
