I liek Dead Kennedys, Im not much of a Punk Music Fan, But I really like therre stuff

Brain Toad 12-30-2005 04:56 PM
Nick, can you explain the three copies of Frankenchrist?
Joe explained it, but I'll go more in detail.

One in the middle is the remaster reissue from Manifesto records. The two on the ends are Alternative Tentacles releases. I bought both hoping to get the poster, but it's only in the vinyl. But I ended up keeping them both because one is an orginial CD release and the other seems to be an AT reissue or just a different copy because the CD and back case are different then the other two.

And all my CDs and Vinyls are Manifesto releases unfortunely, except Bedtime which is an AT release. I'm hoping to get vinyl ATs soon.
I have Plastic Surgery Disasters and In God We Trust Inc as one album, so it's cool.
That's the only way to get it on CD. I don't like it like that, because PSD obviously ends with Moon Over Marin and even has the ghost from Christmas past talking again and it's just wrong for it to jump right into IGWTI.

sketchyjoe 12-30-2005 05:02 PM

That and IGWTI should be before PSD.

Brain Toad 12-30-2005 05:07 PM
That and IGWTI should be before PSD.
That too. I don't understand why they grouped them on CD, since Manifesto re-released IGWTI as a vinyl seperate from PSD.
They're all different releases, and he was hoping to find the one with the orignal phallic poster that caused quite a bit of uproar.
I have that record:cool:

Also, Holiday in Cambodia is a ****ing awesome song. Something about makes me all warm inside.

Angry Balled Fists! 12-31-2005 07:30 AM

Oh man, i'm loving Buzzbomb, Moon over Marin, Terminal Preppie and I am the owl.

BTW, What is GMCOGMD ?

Is it a best of ?

Berserker! 12-31-2005 08:51 AM

No, normal album I think.

Mild Child 12-31-2005 09:36 AM

lol. I love the part in riot where they play dragnet and Jello goes 'S'hit!'

It humours me.

not really, it's more 'B-Sides and other Rarities'. People always say it's their Best Of when there's only two actual singles on it (Holiday in Cambodia and California Uber Alles)

but Pull My Strings is hot.

heh yeah, those songs like Man With The Dogs that have an interesting ending are awesome. I love it when DK does that

guns_of_brixton 12-31-2005 10:58 AM

I say that I Spy and Great Wall are the best tracks on Bedtime.

Jersey's Best Dancer 12-31-2005 01:12 PM

I have Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death on viynl and it doesnt have the album name on the bottom. Is it supposed to be like that cause it is the viynl or is it a misprint?

^^^
It has no repeated songs really, since both the Holiday and Uber Alles are different versions then what have been on previous albums.

I got Bedtime and one Frankenchrist at Rasputin record store, in the used section. I got the second Frankenchrist in the new section at The Beat record store. I'm getting a couple AT releases on eBay soon.

I love Night of the Living Rednecks, but I like it more in context because Jello starts making fun of Ray for having to go off stage to tune his guitar because he is too shy. The show it's from (Portland, Oregon) is a really good show from them.

Jersey's Best Dancer 12-31-2005 03:51 PM

no answer for me Brain Toad? Thought u might kno.

I actually don't, because I've never seen that vinyl so I wouldn't know. It seems to be it's probably a misprint though.

Jersey's Best Dancer 12-31-2005 04:09 PM

I looked it up more and it seems that about 10% of the pics I found didnt have it written. The AT release didn't, but my copy is from Manifesto.

Mild_child 01-02-2006 10:12 AM

Hey, I read on Sputnik in a review for FFFRV that Jello refered to a Dr. Seuss story in "Your'e a Star Belly Sneech, you suck like a leech" lol. Which story was it? Does anyone know of any other references in his music?

guns_of_brixton 01-02-2006 12:59 PM

Sounds like a reference to How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but I'm not sure.

I know I Fought the Law and I Won is a reference is to the "Twinkee defense" trial where a man shot and killed the mayor of San Francisco and a head city supervisior and said it was because of junk food made him depressed.

Oh wait. Yes, I remember this. Ahaha, The Star Bellied Sneeches

Not sure if any of you read Dr. Seuss, but he was part of my life in Elementary School. IT's about these 'sneeches' that put stars on their bellies to fit in. Really does fit into the song where he goes "You want everyone to be like you"

I really am gay aren't I?

You still read Dr. Seuss, don't you? It's o.k. to admit it. Some of us just have more of an extensive reading comprehension than others. :D

Flagjacket 01-02-2006 09:54 PM

I honestly think that Star Bellied Sneeches is one of the greatest stories ever written.

Nah* I just remember in my health class (:naughty:) they teacher put up a big poster-thing of the Sneeches about trying to 'act cool' just to fit in which is sopposed to help us. I just got kind of excited when I found out Jello's reference.

I'm trying to debate whether I want to bid on this Frankenchrist vinyl with poster on eBay right now. It ends in 2 hours and has jumped from $7 yesterday to $21.50 today, and I'm afraid it'll go too high for my limit, even though it's already past my $15. I kind of want to get it, but I also rather find it in a record shop myself and treasure my find.

Also have some other DK related auctions I'm watching, including Klaus Floride's solo album (vinyl), and In God We Trust Inc AT vinyl, Skateboard Party bootleg vinyl, and a Tumor Circus unplayable picture disc.

Lazybassplr56 01-03-2006 06:13 PM

Wait on the Frankenchrist album. It's funner to find stuff in record stores.

Well I decided not to get the Frankenchrist album. The Klaus got bumped up too high for my tastes ($13 is a bit much for something thats not that special to me) and put in a bid on the IGWTI vinyl. I'm more than likely going to get the Tumor Circus as long as the high bid isn't something outragous, and more than likely the Skateboard Party one.

Mild_child 01-03-2006 08:25 PM

Is it Klaus' Jumbo Shrimp? I'd want that so bad...

Brain Toad 01-03-2006 08:26 PM
Is it Klaus' Jumbo Shrimp? I'd want that so bad...
Nope solo album. If it was Jumbo Shrimp, I might've been more willing to buy it.
