Skepticism - Aeothe Kaear = Best doom album i've heard in a long time. Amazing.
Of course man, they're the best doom band. I haven't got that though. I got Ethere the other day, really great atmosphere and absolutely horrifying rendition of The March and the Stream (I can see why people name it the most depressing song ever).

I love how with Skepticism you get the variation. There's the big, grandiose and powerful stuff done in the Stormcrowfleet era, the funeral march-like stuff they did in the Lead & Aether period (which should be banned, there's no happy moments in the music, some notes are painful) and the trippy, scary stuff done in the Farmakon era. I'm eager to see what they do now.
Werny (and other fuenral doom fans \m/:
Have you heard of Comatose Vigil?
It's pretty awesome stuff. very dark and brooding, the vocals are great.
they are or: low as **** or distorted and very eery.

good stuff.
Name rings a bell, can't say I've heard them though. I need heaps more Funeral. Wormphlegm, Comatose Vigil, Catacombs, Monolithe... mmmm.
are they like nortt?

I'm not sure. They are amazing though. The atmosphere is so intense.

Ive only listened to a bit of Doom Metal through the odd downloaded track (mainly pentagram) I always knew I would like it because I am a huge Black Sabbath fan. And today I finally bought a Doom album, Turn To Stone by Pentagram, I havnt listened to it yet though. And even though I am not a big fan now I can see myself being one in the near future, does anybody have any recommendations for other similair bands?

AA-12 07-17-2006 05:55 AM

I suggest buying Electric Wizard - Dopethrone.

Hey thanks for the recommendations, although I have a heard a bit of electric wizard and didn't like it much, also ive heard Grand Magus and I liked them would they be considered Doom?

Also whats the general attitude towards Pentagram in this forum? Not that it will change my opinion, I'm just curious.

ATM 07-17-2006 06:35 AM

I ended up getting Spirit Caravan - Elusive Truth.

Sweet album, and I've met Scott Weinrich :)

I love Day Of Reckoning.

rhcp pman 07-17-2006 12:30 PM

Haha, I played Thergothon's Stream from the Heavens album at 200% speed - it's kind of interesting actually :). And as a last note:

Listen to Dolorian people!

Grand Magus is indeed considered doom metal. You might want to try giving Electric Wizard another go - they took a bit of time to grow on me.

Orodruin is bloody great. I love Pierced by Cruel Winds - that section from the middle to the end is so good.

I haven't actually heard that album, but judging by Jug Fulla Sun, it should be pretty good.
Yeah, I found out about Kyuss because they jammed frequently in my area. Josh Homme went to my high school, and the CD "Welcome to Sy Valley" is in reference to an unincorporated land that is near where I live called (what do ya know) Sky Valley.
Really? How far apart did you guys graduate?

Daven 07-17-2006 06:55 PM

I just got Skepticism's Aeothe Kaear and its very good.

Okay I will. Ill get Dopethrone like was suggested.

Btw I also started listening to my Pentagram CD, and I am loving it, Liebling is one hell of a singer and sometimes can even sound a bit like Ozzy Osbourne, I really noticed that in the song "Relentless"

Yeah, great band. Epicurean Mass is awesome. and the split with Reverend Bizarre is also great.

You would probably like November's Doom.
Yeah, great band. Epicurean Mass is awesome. and the split with Reverend Bizarre is also great.
Yeah, the split is good. The annoying thing that I don't know how to categorise my doom splits - that split could go in the Orodruin folder or Reverend Bizarre. I might just put them all in one folder.

Has anyone heard Disembowelment? I've only heard good things about them, but I haven't got any of their albums yet.

Sure thing. I tried downloading it a while back, but I was kicked from the DC++ hub and I didn't even get away with a song...

I'll get it as soon as I can :).

rippa32 07-19-2006 04:56 AM

Go by yourself.

Kyle 07-19-2006 05:04 AM

Missed = past tense.

I would of normally, but I'm not exactly a huge fan, and it involved a bit of travelling. If it was a band that I had a huge interest in, then I would go on my own without hesitation, but I've never followed Brant Bjork's solo projects until the last month or so.

I was talking with Suns of Thunder through Myspace and they were suppoused to find out how much it would cost to mail an album for me to USA. They never did

Phototropic 07-19-2006 07:48 AM

Yeah Brant wasn't that amazing, hes a cool cat an all but his music is lethargic

Suns of thunder kicked ***

ArrestThisMan

I'll try and speak to Greg about that for you, the albums pretty ace

ATM 07-19-2006 08:19 AM

Yea they said they would look into the price for shipping, etc

They were really experimental and out there, especially for their time (and especially for an aussie band). I wanna get one of the new shirts!

I thought Skepticism couldn't do any wrong. Then I heard the version of The March and the Stream from Lead & Aether...they butchered it!

deadmetalbassist 07-23-2006 08:22 PM

Does anyone know when any good stoner metal festivals are going to be? I found one in Cleveland, but it's already passed and I dunno if its an annual thing or not.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-24-2006 09:03 AM

np: Esoteric - Arcane Dissolution "Subconscious Dissolution Into The Continuum"

Esoteric, anyone?
