Happy Birthday Aes.

Chris, when is it your Birthday?

Whitecloud 07-22-2005 09:11 AM

Well even if its over in Aus its still your birthday in the UK so Happy birthday:thumb:

Aes820 07-22-2005 09:26 AM

I've been 'celebrating' my birthday for the pastseveral hours.
I'm whacked.

The calendar has Australian landscapes on it. For the month of july there's a picture of some forestry huts from shepparton victoria. Pretty.

I got a call from my sister to. which was great. Haven't spoken to her since last september, apart from like via email or msn. She's in Paris at the moment. 'Twas great to hear from her.

moaner 07-22-2005 12:08 PM

I just pillaged an old radio, and have nothing but a 2" speaker and a transforemr i don't know the values of to show for it. :(

worth a try i guess.

Why the quotations on celebrating?
Anyway, we're done... it was so awesome! I'm also whacked, but happy.

Just wondering, is anyone actually wanting to keep posted on those flamenco lessons at all (just wanna know if it's worth throwing you guys a link when I do some more)?

Aes820 07-23-2005 12:29 AM

Inverted commas, to add emphasis on the word. :D

Trigger_003 07-23-2005 01:04 AM

Okay cool. I wasn't sure if it was a bit sarcastic or something.

I met the coolest music teacher at that marathon (she's from another campus, so I hadn't met her before). I was playing Mediterranean Sundance and she was amazed, saying it was her favourite song :thumb:. Anyway, she gave me a cd of two of her friends playing flamenco/latin kinda stuff... pretty sweet so far. I might upload a track or two if there are any really awesome ones.

What's going on with everyone else?

gaslight 07-23-2005 01:07 AM

I'm eating some "beef" noodles I just added hot water to.

Trigger_003 07-23-2005 02:19 AM

Wow, hardcore.

And so this thread makes it to 1000 posts.... To, er, celebrate?, here are two tracks from that cd, El Fuego - Mario Lattuada & Robert Bratetich:
http://www.tdknights.com/trea/el_fuego1.wma <- This track really reminds me of Strunz & Farah :thumb:.
http://www.tdknights.com/trea/el_fuego10.wma <- This one is... I dunno, just beautiful (IMHO).

Go the Aussie talent... Hope you guys like 'em.

Im soo tired, too. I went to bed at 11pm last night, got up at 2:45am, realised that someone drew on my face with green whiteboard marker while I was asleep, played clarinet for an hour, drew on the person that drew on me with a blue highliter, went to bed at 4:30am then got up at 7:30am.
With one wipe of a cloth, the blue ink came off the culprit's (Laura's) face.
The green ink is still on my face as I'm typing this. (I tried to get it off)

Trigger_003 07-23-2005 04:35 AM

Hahaha, that was funny as. Both of them were cracking up so bad as they did that to each other... surprised they didn't wake each other. Crazy reactions from the person sleeping as they did it though .

Well I'm off, night all (and listen to those clips! :thumb: )

Powderfinger Rocks 07-23-2005 04:36 AM

Trea, those flamenco songs are cool as!
Yea she's awesome and really nice. I hope to God she teaches year 11 next year :):):)

Powderfinger Rocks 07-23-2005 04:37 AM

lol yea Laura was twitching as I was drawing on her moustache

? :(

gaslight 07-24-2005 04:49 AM

I'm getting them now :).

joeljjison 07-24-2005 10:44 AM

It seems I've missed the chance for introductions, but nevertheless, I will introduce myself anyway.

I'm 18. I live in London. I've just finished my A-levels (last set of exams at school), and hopefully If I've done acceptably in them, I can take up my conditional offer to study music (jazz option:D) at Middlesex. Its quite a conservatoireish course, which is what I want really.

I DJ a little for extra money, and I want to get myself a cocktail piano job to establish a reliable small revenue.

I hope I make it.

I'm just one of the many standing in the shadows of music, trying to realize my dreams! Mine are too influence people, and too gig... theres nothing like the buzz of getting the house on fire..

Trigger_003 07-24-2005 03:38 PM
I'm getting them now :).
:) Sweet.

G'day Joel, sounds awesome. Hope you get in!
Do you just play piano or some other instruments too?
Do you mainly play jazz?

joeljjison 07-24-2005 03:53 PM

Thanks. I mainly play piano, but I play some Sax as well. I don't really practice sax though in all honesty. I do mainly play jazz yes. I play some blues as well, and funk stuff. I play cocktail stuff as well haha...

Powderfinger Rocks 07-25-2005 12:04 AM

Hey Joel
Sounds good! Hope you make it!
I'd love to play jazz...

AG 07-25-2005 05:30 AM

You should put subliminal messages into your music when playing at cocktail bars/hotel lobbies ala Bill Bailey.

:D

moaner 07-25-2005 05:43 AM

does there exist anywhere a software version of something similar to a Boss DR3?

I want that kind of simple interface but i can't afford a drum machine :(

AG 07-25-2005 08:30 AM

You're lucky, I want a V-Synth XT :upset: £1319 :upset::upset:

Well you could download reason and only use the Redrum (the drum module), its fairly simple.

have you checked pawn shops/ebay? you should be able to find a korg ER-1 for ~100-120 USD.

moaner 07-28-2005 08:44 AM

job interview went really well :D

dunno if i got it tho

Trigger_003 07-28-2005 03:35 PM

Good stuff :D

We got a gig organised for us - playing at a primary school fate in November. Something a bit different for us. Should be fun.
We'll probably have to learn some covers that the kids will actually know and can get into though... Might be a problem seeing our singer is going to Poland for 7 weeks.

And with one of the concert bands I'm in, we're doing a cabaret (sp?) night; Latino Fever (Latin based in case thats... not obvious?). I didn't know about it early enough to get a spot to play some flamenco :(, but it'll be sweet playing Malaguena and the like on trombone :).

Anyone else got band/music updates?

AG 07-28-2005 04:08 PM

Happy Birthday Chris :)

moaner 07-28-2005 05:10 PM

:D

Aes820 07-28-2005 07:20 PM

Happy birthday, Moaner.
