I really liked the Icon medley. I think Sum 41 does Metallica better than Metallica. Well just because I like Deryck's voice better than James'. But yeah Metallica sucks anyways, only their first 3 albums were good.
i love old metallica, st anger pretty much sucks. i thought their metallica medley was pretty cool.
i agree. master of puppets is their best album, for me.

Firecracker 05-15-2005 10:53 AM

Master Of Puppets, For Whom The Bell Tolls and I Disappear are really the only songs by Metallica i like, if someone other than James Hetfield is singing, because i really don't like his voice.

hopeulikemygenocide 05-21-2005 11:13 PM

hey where is everyone? as soon as metallica was brought up, this thread died. let's "ressurect" it. come back basicbassist.

haha, wow, good to see I'm still loved by the fans. Well, my internet was like, "hey I'm stupid and not going to work for about a month" and I was like "you stupid mofo, work now", so I'm here. I hate metallica, I liked Battery, The Battle Within (battle, struggle, whatever the thing is called) and I used to like Enter Sandman, but other than that, the guys voice does shit for their music, they got good riffs, but his voice makes me wanna kill some people. I just downloaded Sum 41's cover of Master Of Puppets from sumpieces.com and they picked it up from the solo, it was pretty cool.

TheBassicBassist 05-27-2005 08:56 PM
my ex girlfriend has it. once i come across some money i'm gonna get it. it's pretty good.
awesome man, are you talking about Jenz and whatnot? I really want that dvd, then I'm gonna get them live in Japan, the I'm gonna get the Maximum Sum 41 biography and then I think maybe the Motivation EP, then I'm pretty sure I'll have all of their publicly released junk.

TheBassicBassist 05-27-2005 08:58 PM

Okay, so I was listening to Chuck again a couple of days ago, and I forget which song it was but I heard Cone (no mistake) singing background. It couldn't have been Deryck, Dave, or Steve, the voice just wasn't right for them, it had to have been Cone, and...yeah.

TheBassicBassist 05-27-2005 09:37 PM

Right well, this post is the 1000th post, and I guess I'll go ahead and take it since I'm the oldest veteran of the Sum 41 thread. Thanks for keeping this thread alive and running. You guys are amazing. Keep on rockin'.

Alexpc007 05-28-2005 03:42 AM

Gonna see them the 10th of july. Cant wait.
Chuck is a good album, but i prefered does this look infected.

chumpradio 05-28-2005 06:13 AM

Ordered my ticket for 6th July show in Manchester.
Can't wait, I hope they only play a few of the good songs off Chuck though. I don't really like that album.
I love the other 3 though.

BassPlayer222 05-28-2005 10:05 AM

i miss old sum 41, back with there spikey hair, red white and blue wristbands, and famous stars and straps shirts. All Killer No Filler was my first punkish album and i loved Sum 41 as they were my favorite band for a good 3 years. No matter how hard i try i can't get into the new "metal/rock" sum 41. What happened to the bouncy punk pop songs they used to write like "In Too Deep" "Fat Lip" "Makes No Difference" and "Nothing On My Back". They were fun loving goof balls and that's what made them so cool. Now there all "serious". That's what we have punk rock and emo for. Don't get me wrong, theyve really grown as musicians i just wish they didnt change so much and lose there punk pop ways to do it.

well they're attitude is still very much the same as it was in the old days, you notice this when you see them live now. But I can't say I agree with you, I prefer new Sum 41, as I've said before in this thread, Sum 41's music evolved with my taste, so I'm happy about that. I still love old Sum 41 but I think songs like Makes No Difference and In Too Deep are just a little bit too poppy for me to handle sometimes, depends what kind of mood I'm in.

This thread is now 41 pages long. That's awesome. :thumb:

they just got into other types of music, thus becoming DTLI and C and there you go

for me, it wasn't that their music evolved with my taste, it was that my taste evolved with their music, I listened to DTLI and them my brother introduced me to Shadows Fall for the second time and then I loved metal, the first time I couldn't stand it, now I listen to bands like Killswitch Engage, Between The Buried And Me, Bury Your Dead, and some other great metal artists, but I never got into rock, it makes me mad, I like Pop-punk, punk, and metal, weird, but DTLI and C are the albums that helped me on my way to heavier things. This is why they are my favorite ever bands, they kept me from rapping with rappers and popping with poppers.

first of all, it is awesome that we are on the 41st page, can you believe this thread was almost closed, weirdo mods. Anyways, yes, I do have way more posts than anyone else, but that says things. I just love them to much. They've done things for me, see previous post.

just so that you know, my name has two s's on basic, making it bassic, not like I really care, but you keep saying basic, it's unimportant though

yeah, I am a true fan, my background in my computer is sum 41, my screen saver is sum 41, my avatar/title is sum 41, my name on my comp is Sum 41 Mosh, (though it's not my screen name, I should make it that, but I have three already) and I...yeah, I think you guys have the idea.

saw them a few months back. it was awsome. when deryk was singing pieces he was at the last line where he goes "That I am better of on my- *boom*" someone threw a shoe at him and he fell over. he then got up and said " it's ok i didn't need that tooth anyways" . quite a funny experience and i thought i'd share that with you guys because i'm bored.

GRRR I hate being corrected. Oh well my fault. I'm just used to correcting other people, not the other way around.

it's okay, it wasn't a big deal, if you kept saying basic I would've just been like ".....ok...ay....." and not cared at all.
