I was at Ameoba Records in Berkeley today and I decided to look through the vinyl section to see if I could find some Reach Out but alas, they don't have it. They had a bunch of interesting **** though. And then they had 15 copies of some DMX record.
Reach Out stuff is pretty hard to find nowadays. I don't like seeing people drop $15+ on our records. Anyway, you live in Berkeley? That's awesome. Go see The Pine. And does that old dude still work at Amoeba? I guess I haven't been there for 7+ years or something. |
It's a further schism from hardcore. While emo was an attempt to not only draw more complex songs into the mix but mostly to introduce more introspective and poetic lyricism into the music, post-hardcore was an attempt to retain the characterists of hardcore that made it so catchy like the breakdown and the sing along unity feel but extend that with crazy musicianship. That's why Trophy Scars will tread the line you know? They'll have some songs without breakdowns and that good ol' screamo chaos but then other songs will be about complex song structure but have a sick breakdown. The lines are indeed blurry but when properly analyzed there is a method to the madness.
That was a great explanation. Thanks a lot. |

Yeah, that was a great definition. |

I don't really like them that much.
Did a split Lp with Song of Zarathustra on Level Plane. 7" on Witching Hour. Couple records on Alone. And more. |

Weird, their song "Electricity" on epitonic sounded more along the lines of The Icarus Line and a bit of Mclusky.. |
ok, i don't come to this thread much. and i know what REAL emo and screamo are cause i listen to a little bit of it. and i'm not asking if this band is emo or screamo but i am asking what you would classify them as. anyway...what is At the Drive-In?
|
At The Drive In are a mixture of indie and hardcore. Perhaps some post-hardcore also.
|

I'm not indie enough to listen to those bands so that comment does nothing for me. |

I just call them indie. They also have some very punk-ish songs. |
Everyone in here should be proud of me. I ordered my first emo CD!
Saetia - A Discography. (I was lucky it was the last copy) Should be arriving in the mail within two weeks or so. |
Do you mean A Retrospective? Or is it a different release?
What is Moss Icon's album (or one of their releases, I don't know how much they ever released) called? I've seen just 'Lyburnum', and 'Lyburnum Wits End Liberation Fly'. |
Pretty sure he means A Retrospective.
I'm so proud. Sep's all grown up. Almost brings a tear to my eyes. |

The LP was Lyburnum, then they have a 12" called 'It Disappears,' a couple 7"s ('What They Lack,' 'Mahpia Luhta,' 'Memorial.' and probably a couple more) and various comp tracks (Fear of Smell compilation, among others). Oh, and a split LP with Silver Bearings. |
So why didn't you order a couple 7"s?
CDs are so un-emo.
I don't know how to order vynils off Amazon. And I don't have a record player here in Oman. I am thinking about buying a few vynils next time I go to Holland though as I don't have a CD player there. I'll probably be able to get my parents' record player in my room. |
where do u order cds from?
I order them off Amazon, as Interpunk won't ship to Oman. Amazon are cheap and reliable. Interpunk however also sells band T-shirts and other merchandise and has a larger selection of CDs (although Amazon has a lot too.) When pre-ordering from Interpunk you usually also get a free T-shirt/poster/sticker etc. |
