Hey quick question. What is a good way to record with my PC? Is there some special pedal I can get somewhere? I saw one...but it was a whole effects processer

I guess it depends on your price range, I use my KORG PX4 and it cost me £100 off Ebay when it was supposed to be around £160 I think, or you could just get a basic BOSS DS-1 pedal for £50, but then you'll only have a small range of tones etc.
Also, if you have your amp next to your pc, you could just buy a decent mic for that much and it'd probably sound better, depending on your sound card.

To be honest I have no idea about soundcards, except the better (more expensive) then the better sound quality you'll get. You might wanna look it up or ask around about how good your one is though.

To record you need:
Guitar - Amp - Mic - Soundcard - Recorder on pc

OR

Guitar - Amp - Wire from output to Line In on your pc - Recorder on pc

OR

Guitar - effects thing - Wire from output to Line In on your pc - recorder on pc.

I think thats enough possibilities.
I use the last one, my friend uses the middle one, so I know they both work and obviously the first one does since thats how most bands do it in the studio.

The songs you actually record makes no difference whatsoever. You'll be able to record anything as long as you can follow through one of the three steps I wrote above.

Or the easiest, Guitar - Wire - PC.

Then you wouldn't have any distortion.

Yeah I just plug into a distortion pedal and then plug the line out into my computer to record. You can't manage your tone as well though. For nice tone you need a pre-amp.
