1 Sufjan Stevens 90
2 Six Organs of Admittance 39
3 I Heart Hiroshima 35
3 Thomas Newman 35
5 Antony and the Johnsons 27
6 Ulver 23
7 Deerhoof 20
8 Tom Waits 19
9 Unwed Sailor 17
10 Belle and Sebastian 15

I finally like Illinois a bit. I give it a 3.5. I was mainly listening to Sufjan's Christmas albums, they are very nice. I might make a thread about them.

Wanker 11-21-2005 07:35 AM

1 Wire 169
2 Rachel's 74
3 Do Make Say Think 55
4 Wolf Parade 44
5 The Flaming Lips 42
5 Explosions in the Sky 42
5 A Perfect Circle 42
8 Iron & Wine 41
9 Godspeed You! Black Emperor 34
9 Mono 34

Wow, I didn't think I listened to so much Wire. Half the time I can't even tell when one of their songs ends and another begins.

I downloaded K'naan's The Dusty Foot Philosopher due to JonM's whoring, and it's really good.

Interstate 11-21-2005 03:19 PM

Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow - Still don't like him as much as I'd like to.
Jay Z - The Black Album
Anthony & The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now - really starting to like this album.

br3ad_man 11-21-2005 04:54 PM

Man. Gospel. Freaking Gospel. This album is so awesome.

EDIT: But I don't hear any CTTS in it. I hear a little bit of City of Caterpillar though.

I'd say this is a good pick for people who like the Mars Volta, but want more metal and less quasi-prog-craziness.

Luxor 11-21-2005 06:16 PM

Gospel <3

Zesty Mordant 11-21-2005 06:23 PM

Sunny Day Real Estate- Diary

I've had it for a few years but I never really gave it a chance until a few days ago and I've been listening to it ever since.

Also,
Nas- Illmatic
DEP- Miss Machine
Ween- Quebec (soooooo underrated!)

I'd send but my connection is poo. :o Just hit up soulseek for The Moon Is a Dead World. It's like prog meets punk meets an almost post-rock kind of structure. Or as all music puts it, it bridges the gap between Slint and King Crimson.

Me digging:
Kaada/Patton - Romances
Serena Maneesh - s/t
Joanna Newsom - The Milk-Eyed Mender

Smackers 11-21-2005 06:46 PM

Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto - Insen
Pineapple Thief - 10 Stories Down
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads (this is my favorite Christmas album)

Luxor 11-21-2005 06:47 PM

Gospel = Psychadelic-indie-hardcore. Or something along those lines.

There are some songs (four, I think, and apparently amongst the better ones on the album) available to play on their site. http://www.themoonisadeadworld.com, I think. Named after the album.

JonM 11-21-2005 06:48 PM

I've been listening to a lot of Alternative but only a little Indie.

I listened to an allmusic sample of "Yr Electric Surge is Sweet" and now I'm hooked. This band sounds awesome!

Thanks for the link Bartender. This is definitely a band I have to dig into. They're like The Fall of Troy with less whining and more \m/

I loooooooove this album. I have to say this.

Anyway, I'm really into Kid A lately. I've heard some people say they don't like a lot of the weird prog stuff, but I like it.
