I never could. I can't take it seriously at all, though I will admit his lyrics can be really great on occasion.
His voice really spoils what could be amazing songs, lyrically wise.

Anxious 12-31-2007 12:16 PM

The Melvins last night was MINDBLOWING. Two drummers with connected drum sets in the back pounding out polyrythmns to their classic songs, Buzzo right in my face.

Zmev 12-31-2007 12:22 PM

If I have nothing to do tonight I'll go see them and Comets on Fire who I assumed opened for your show. Only thing is parking in SF on New Years.

Anxious 12-31-2007 12:30 PM

I wish Comets on Fire opened last night. Thats sure to be a great show though.

AndreTheHyena 12-31-2007 12:32 PM

Which Melvins album is a good starting point to really get into them? I've heard Stoner Witch, and I really liked their style on that record, but I'm not sure that it's a typically Melvinsesque record, as it's rarely mentioned as one of their essentials...

Anxious 12-31-2007 12:57 PM

Houdini or their new one, A Senile Animal.

I'm partial to Bullhead and Gluey Porch Treatments myself but those are kinda of of their beaten path.

im reading some wilco reviews on rym

why are people so stupid

AndreTheHyena 12-31-2007 01:05 PM

Give us examples.

Eliminator 12-31-2007 01:10 PM

- people mentioning YHF in just about every review, even ones for their first two albums
- people not thinking Being There is their best album (this is fact)
- and thinking that Misunderstood and Sunken Treasure are the only good songs on it (lol)
- A GHOST IS BORN IS SO KRAUTROCK
- WILCO ARE SO NOISY NOW THIS IS PRETTY ARTY
-etc

Boilermaker 12-31-2007 01:17 PM

lol krautrock

Jacaranda 12-31-2007 01:20 PM

-JEFF TWEEDY IS SRSLY CRAZY

hm yes

Hahaha. Word on Being There being their (lol) best, though they could have seriously trimmed a few tracks off of it.

I ran my roommate's truck into a ditch during a snowstorm while listening to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot a few weeks ago.

Eliminator 12-31-2007 01:24 PM

there are maybe one or two songs on the second disc that i dont like

but Dreamer in My Dreams makes up for those

Glitterati 12-31-2007 02:04 PM

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Eliminator 12-31-2007 02:07 PM

it's a really good album but it can be kind of dull

Thanks 12-31-2007 02:15 PM

Wilco? Why?

Eliminator 12-31-2007 02:18 PM

what

ATM 12-31-2007 02:18 PM

Alex hates fun.

Thanks 12-31-2007 02:30 PM

Word.

pixiesfanyo 12-31-2007 02:49 PM

Wilco is not fun.

Kage 12-31-2007 02:50 PM

What's fun, then?

Eliminator 12-31-2007 02:51 PM

old time relijun and kayo dot

Neoteric 12-31-2007 02:52 PM

Wilco gets tedious on repeated listens.

Eliminator 12-31-2007 02:53 PM

that sounds like a reviewer sentence you should use that

Neoteric 12-31-2007 02:54 PM

will do.

Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot are good sometimes but other times i just can't listen to them.

Eliminator 12-31-2007 02:56 PM

O', the others! How they grace my ears with such tedium!

pixiesfanyo 12-31-2007 03:19 PM

Silver Jews are fun.

(*The Noonward Race*) 12-31-2007 04:07 PM

Boilermaker 12-31-2007 04:08 PM
Is Daniel Johnston worth seeing live?
Yes.

asdf 12-31-2007 05:07 PM

Friend of mine told me seeing Daniel Johnston was the best concert she'd ever been to. Made me really regret missing it.

ATM 12-31-2007 05:09 PM

Rory, you miss a lot of shows :(

asdf 12-31-2007 05:11 PM

I know. People tell me I go to too many, but I miss like twice as much.

ATM 12-31-2007 05:17 PM

Yeah, I hear you. I will never have enough money for all the shows I want to see.

There are three shows in four days that I want to go to at the end of Jan.

asdf 12-31-2007 05:30 PM

I didn't have any shows planned until February when I was going to see Harley Poe, but just the other day the venue they were going to play at was shut down for fire code violations. I don't know if they'll be re-booked :(

br3ad_man 12-31-2007 08:53 PM

I'm going to try to only go to 2-3 shows a month this year. I spent a bit too much money on them this year I think. Maybe I should move to America where I'd only have to pay 1/3 of what I pay for shows here.

Liebensaft 12-31-2007 08:55 PM

There haven't been any good shows at all this winter yet. Om is playing here soon, but it's 21+. Next one I'm looking forward to is Xiu Xiu in March I think. It sucks.

samariah 12-31-2007 10:36 PM

i pretty much almost never go to shows because i live nowhere :(

Bukowski 12-31-2007 10:45 PM
Om is playing here soon, but it's 21+.
s'hit man, that sucks. I REALLY want to see Om.

I just found out Autechre is playing on March 1st. I'm quite excited about that. My nxt show is Spectrum, who was in Spacemen 3. I haven't heard anything he's done but I'm gonna go and check it out check it out baby.
