ElKapitan 05-25-2005 05:01 AM

how'd it go?
what was it on?

lemoley 05-25-2005 05:03 AM

it went ok thanks, i did a question on 'of mice and men' and then some questions on poems by Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armatige

ElKapitan 05-25-2005 05:05 AM

i fucking hate Simon Wankatige! he's a moaning cunt and should burn!
his poetry is so truly appaling it makes me sick! and to think that generations of lit students are put off poetry by his bile!

ElKapitan 05-25-2005 05:13 AM

hey Eddie, hows the guitar coming along?

Thunder Fingers 05-25-2005 05:15 AM

i play a 4 stringer now....

ElKapitan 05-25-2005 05:16 AM

you given up with the Shine?

Thunder Fingers 05-25-2005 05:24 AM

no, i killed 2 guitar strings, i havent aforded new(72 precision on the way remember? :p) so i hvent played it since..

ElKapitan 05-25-2005 06:52 AM

argh, i just recorded a really weird 'song'

i just finished listening to The Locust followed by the Jesu mini album and then some Cannibal Corpse and i think i just reprocessed it all into a 3 minuite deludge of sludgey crap!

it scares me

fatbandit 05-25-2005 06:53 AM

Hmm. English Lit GCSE smelled today. Comparing short stories and then 4 poems? No thanks. But luckily, never again. I'm so close to being able to burn all my exercise books, I can almost taste it... 11 exams to go. But the waiting is the worst part... An RE exam on Friday afternoon, then a week off >.< Its horible knowing you've got to go back to exams.

you gotta explain me this girl pants thing gav.. aint that like... REALY uncomfortable?

fatbandit 05-25-2005 06:56 AM

Mornin' Gav! How's it?

And at least we didn't do Mr Simon Armitage then... We did Seamus Heaney (does he have any poems not about digging potatoes up...? :amaze: ) and Gillian Clarke. Stupid underlying political message in every poem...
you gotta explain me this girl pants thing gav.. aint that like... REALY uncomfortable?
   :p

Some say it is, but my friends and I wear girl's pants all the time and I find it much more comfortable...I don't like huge jeans that fall off my legs. :p

These jeans just fit and feel better.

However, some say it's like a cheap motel...

...no ball room. ;)

Morning, fat bandit.

If I randomly stop posting, assume the bell rang and I had to go to history class. :p

rotflmao!!

bottlerocket 05-25-2005 07:00 AM

If you don't like Heaney and potatoes, don't read any poems by Theodore Roethkey (I butchered his last name, it's something phonetically similar...I know that). He got off to plants, if you know what I mean.

One poem called Frau something (various names listed after it) is about the author's sexual fascination with these old German hags who worked in his dad's garden all day.

Thunder Fingers 05-25-2005 07:05 AM

fatbandit 05-25-2005 07:06 AM

Dude, I don't read poetry for pleasure, I'm sorry to say. And the only poems I have elft to do are ones from other cultures. I find it impossible to be doing texts for school and enjoy them.

peeted 05-25-2005 07:07 AM

english gcse. i was so scaird i was litraly shaking because my english teacher had told us that you were aloud to do lil pencil marks in your books so id done stars next to qoutes, we were then told in teh exam that youd be disqualified if you had any marks in your books and people started going round checking :0.....luckily some one shoved there hand up before the teacher reached me and he didnt check the rest of the row. man that was scairy.
my noval was to kill a mocking bird wich is quality, i think i did ok on that, the poems on teh other hand i did **** at, i had simon armatage and carrol ann duffy pluss pre 1914 and i did **** on em because i couldnt concentrate and was still uber scaird cos they had started book checking again

fatbandit 05-25-2005 07:14 AM

Dude, why did everyone do the novels, not short stories except us...?

And you weren't supposed to have annotated anthologies in the first place, you should have been told that. They should have given you fresh ones, which you were allowed to annotate in the exam...

peeted 05-25-2005 07:17 AM
Can someone then please tell me the difference between trousers and pants??

it is.. American and English for the same thing... confusing for us non english speakin...

fatbandit 05-25-2005 07:49 AM

Right. In England (and possibly European countries, I'm not sure), pants are underwear (like Y-fronts), and trousers are your jeans, chinos, cords, what have you. In America, pants means the same as the English trousers. I'm not sure if Americans even use the word trousers...
