I'm excited for the new Tactus. Mechanical Daemons is still in my car.
Man, I can't wait for blue ray stuff to come down in price. Maybe by next winter, I'll get a blue ray burner & discs and burn my entire DVD collection to blue ray. Sure, quality wont be as good as blue ray movies, but I can fit entire seasons of shows on one disc....so badass.
Get a PS3 as well, you get games and Blue Ray for the same price as a an expensive Blue Ray player.:smash: |
Convince me not to do a Business Degree. Pwease.

I'm actually not just saying this because you think it's a bad idea. Only study business if you're certain you're either good at it, or will really enjoy it. Even when you do enjoy parts of it a lot of the core units like finance and accounting are boring as shit. I was doing business majoring in marketing but dropped out because of all the other units I had to do. Some were too hard for me because I'm not a business-orientated person per se (hence doing marketing, the more creative side of it), some were just boring as staring at shit. Anyway, long story short i dropped out of that and into a BFA in creative and professional writing doing a minor in marketing so I can still do the part I enjoy. And also, I'm sure I'll get some disagreeances from other students; but if you don't know what you want to study, don't fucking go. Seriously, imo just save some money and try and figure out what you really want to do. I proved all the people wrong who said I'd never go back after a year long break, which is what the main argument for going to uni ASAP is. I know people who have no less than 4 tertiary degrees and can't get a job, it's not the end of the world if you take a while to actually figure out what you want to do or don't go at all and work yourself up, do an apprenticeship/traineeship/internship, whatever. |
Honestly get a job unless you're sure that the degree you're doing is worth it.
The assumption that you need a degree to make good money is a lie, uni ends up basically being a daycare centre for high school graduates who don't want to join the real world yet. |

Easy to pick out from a teaser >.<. Second tune on there sounds like it will be badass. Would be cool if you guys produced some CDs, I'd order one fooo sho. |

Eh, I'm not a big enough gamer to warrant the extra $$ for the console portion of it.
Convince me not to do a Business Degree. Pwease.
I wouldn't recommend that ANYBODY get a business degree. Here's what you learn in business classes: * Marketing * Accounting * Economics Here's what you don't learn in business classes: * Business Business is something you learn through practice and failure. If you can't balance a checkbook, you shouldn't be in business. Sure, the degree will look good on paper for somebody (only if you're wanting to work somewhere that requires an MBA or business degree - completely worthless if you want to be self-employed), and you will learn the more subtle nuances of the stock market. But let's be honest, if your business is doing well enough to have stock options, you didn't get there from what you learned in business classes. |

I think, if you ever think you'll want a degree, you should go and get the boring, bullsh*t prerequisites out of the way. It'll give you two years to decide, and then, if you can't decide, take time off and save the money until you can decide, or just take classes that you enjoy. |
I'm almost done with my Diploma in Audio Engineering and I'm freaking out about employment is all lol. Should be okay though. I tend to just get a bit disillusioned if you're having a crappy day.
But thanks for the advice broskis. :chug: |
You're likely to make more money over the course of ten years working as a construction labourer than you are doing a four year degree and then trying to work in that field for the next six.
Though, it's probably best to try and get a degree early in life because once you've worked for a while and gotten a taste for having money it's unlikely you'd ever want to go back to studying for no guarantees. |
It would help if you were built for construction; at 5' 4" and 60kgs (yes I mix metrics and imperial bitches) they'd probably just laugh at me if I tried to apply for a job like that :p
|
Nah the weediest blokes can pull it off hey, it's not just that but any job that pays decently is usually a better bet than doing half a decade of school thinking you'll come out of it at the top of the business heap then ending up being manager-in-waiting at Wendy's or some shit.

I'm going to be moving back in with my parents and cutting back by 20 hours per week for the next two years to get my degree. Not excited for it. |
you dont have to be big and muscular to work construction
thats dumb btw guys stop pipe dreaming median income for people with 4 year degrees is statistically higher than those without but maybe its not like that in a shit country like australia idk |

I'm 5' 11" and about 65, worked in a bottle-o for two years busting my arse unloading trucks and kicking dudes 4 times my size out for being piss heads. It can be done! |

Having said that, because a majority of them are deadshits who can't organise a fuck in a brothel, you can capitalise off them in accounting/advertising, etc. |
Everyone I know who got an accounting degree for example is not an accountant, just saying.

Um, which country single handed fucked up the entire economy of the world quite recently? |
you tell em Australia, we got your back.
no offense to you America, we like you too *shifty eyes* |
We're important man we're the number one exporter of camel meat to the Ruskies.

There're a million posts I can comment on over the past page, but dang. Camel meat? That's something I think I could do without for a long, long while.
Coincidentally regarding the construction discussion I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Fort McMurray, Alta. right now and he was telling me about going back to work for a company he left four months ago with a day's notice... and those guys hired him back like nothing! Man oh man, labour is the bomb-diggety up there. Although cost of living bankrupts like a billion percent of people in Fort Mac, but hey. |

lol i love it this is the most classic retarded response to geography hate ever same thing happens when you insult texas "TEXAS DOESNT SUCK!!!! ILLINOIS SUCKS!!!! YOU DONT KNOW SHIT YOUR STATE SUCKS ASS" same thing happens when you insult soccer (gayest sport in the world) "SOCCER DOESNT SUCK! AMERICAN FOOTBALL SUCKS, YOU SUCK, SOCCER DOESNT SUCK!!!!" and what just happened when i insulted australia "AUSTRALIA DOESNT SUCK!!!! AMERICA SUCKS!!! YOU DONT EVEN!!!!!!" its like some kind of autistic knee-jerk reaction to instantly assume that i will get as upset as you over my country being insulted lmfao |

A math degree, however, will get you into loads of places. Some places, engineers & accountants com to mind) will choose math degree-holders over others who have a degree in the specific field because math degrees make you appear smarter than you are. :) |

That sounds almost as delicious as the brain tacos that I ate yesterday. I didn't really notice that brains (cleverly disguised as "cabeza," meaning "head") were served up in Mexican restaurants, but it is. Incredibly rich flavor and amazingly tender. I couldn't eat more than a few, though, because it's just that rich. |

Next time I shave, I might just leave the soul patch, and let it grow, haha.
Then again, maybe not. |

I've never been ID'd for anything ever. But then, I also don't drink. I keep as much of a beard as I can grow... which admittedly is not very much! Don't get it on my cheeks really. And I hate moustaches, so that shit gets whipped right off.

You're in a fairly successful rock band in a country where the legal purchasing age is 18, but you don't drink? That story doesn't make much sense. |

Someone I know has a sweet job in some kind of high up position in Games Workshop. He was supposed to have like an English degree for it or something, idk, but he blagged it because he has an obscure degree in dark ages/medieval history. So yeah, sure it opens doors. Just not always the ones you expected.
Must suck to have a drinking age of 21. I can't even comprehend that. |
Yeah 18 years drinking limit was awesome, go British colonization!
Probably only bought alcohol for myself/others like 3 times since then, which was about two years ago lol, poor student life is balls. |
Do it.
I find that keeping a short beard helps to extend my face just a little bit and saves the hassle of pulling out my ID when buying liquor.
I just realised how much harder my job would've been if I worked in America. Over here the general rule (which no one follows) is to ID someone if they look under 25 even though the age is 18. Anyway, my theory is such that I believe it would be more difficult to tell if someone is over 21 than it is to tell if someone is over 18. By that I mean, the difference in people who're 20 and 21 is decidedly less than the difference in someone who's 17 and say 19 (at least in most cases, discluding man-children). |
Yeah 18 years drinking limit was awesome, go British colonization!
Probably only bought alcohol for myself/others like 3 times since then, which was about two years ago lol, poor student life is balls.
I'm a student and I have at any given time at least one carton of beer spread around my unit, currently have about 30 bottles of liquor and 15 bottles of wine. I'm sick of this "poor student" whinging. My friends do it to. I live in a nice place, save money and buy shit I don't need all the time. I study full time and play in a band 2-3 times a week. I have the time and energy to work enough to support everything I do and then some. So by my logic, everyone should be able to. |
Not everyone is as awesome as you Ryan.
And besides. I've bought a lot of shit in the last two years. Three computers, a 40 inch HDTV, pedals, an amp, a six string bass (I eventually sold it at a profit), lots of takeout...etc etc etc. But alcohol never really took priority, mainly because all the above stuff came out a savings fund. Spending savings on alcohol doesn't really work very well. It's the week to week money that's very tight. |

Which I guess is essentially what you're saying. Doesn't matter what you studied, the thought process and general education puts you above the person who didn't spend 4 years studying their ass off. |

Anyway, I've pulled too much out of savings lately, needed a new laptop for uni, bought my bike earlier this year, I'm sure there was something else useless in there. I'm not sure how I manage to get by week to week in retrospect, I must be more careful with my money than most people. At least people I know. |
