/thread.
/thread.
really? you picked this thread for that?

anyway to avoid mindless spam, anyone have any news on when the New album is due out? and what're your thoguhts on what it'll be like?
I heard somewhere that it's meant to be more thrashy due to them having to play that stuff for warming up and they wrote heavier stuff as a result.

Squirrel 01-03-2005 09:24 AM

Recording is this month/ February apparently, theyve also got hours of demo tapes to go through cause they tape their pre show jam warmups.

This is all good news - I've heard similar.
Though apart from when they're recording it (Jan/Feb I think - its mentioned in this thread somewhere) I know nothing more about it.

edit: what Squirrel said

DisposableHeroes 01-03-2005 09:25 AM

I heard some pretty exciting news about the album from Rob:

"We already have over 50 hours of song ideas recorded," he said. "There's some speed, some of it is kind of raw and funky, most of it has that heavy groove which I think is a stand-out ingredient for Metallica. . . . James is throwin' down some killer riffs . . . and whatever it is man, it's gonna be heavy. We're getting really excited about doing an album as this team."

Burdcheese 01-03-2005 09:26 AM

If this isn't a St. Angeresque lie, then 2005 should be pretty sweet album-wise

munky_magik 01-03-2005 09:28 AM

Sounds good. I wonder if they're just gonna stick with the classic/Overdone 'Tallica vibe, or Try and develop their sound and ideas a bit.

Squirrel 01-03-2005 09:35 AM

Well Metallica have always changed from album to album, so either way it'll be different.

I mean with Robs technical ability, mixed with their rawer sound and the fact theyve changed after St Anger, it'll certainly be something new.

Burdcheese 01-03-2005 09:38 AM

And we might as well be optimistic about it.
Hopefully, they'll have learned from their mistakes with the last one. Surely they don't live in such a bubble that they think it was "well-received"

Squirrel 01-03-2005 09:40 AM

Hell no, i think they got very tense with the flak they got for it; Kirk lashing out about the lack of guitar solos etc

DisposableHeroes 01-03-2005 09:41 AM

I do respect how they have always done something new, regardless of genre. But it would be nice for them to return to a thrashier sound
