Yes, I love that album. Every song is amazing.
|
http://ytmnd.com/list/?search=opeth This is some of the best stuff i've ever seen.
ROFL! Clitoris race! The picture that accompanies "I'm fixing a pair of Jeans" is so class My favourite Opeth ALBUMS are Still Life, Damnation, Ghost Reveries and My Arms, Your Hearse. Blackwater Park has some of my favourite Opeth songs on it, Deliverance has two great Opeth songs on it, Morningrise also has two very good Opeth songs on it, Orchid isn't really to my tastes.. I think due to production and their songwriting ability at that point. |
yea, in lamentations mikael described morningrise as their best album.
No he didn't. He said that some people consider it to be their master work. And then said that there are parts of it that he can't even bear to listen to anymore. |
I like Ghost Reveries and Deliverance about the same. Still Life and Morning Rise are my favorites.
|
Favourites: Still Life and MAYH.
Least favourite: Orchid |
Favourite: Still Life
Least Favourite: Morningrise |
I still maintain my favorite is Blackwater Park...everything just blends together so well on that album...
Least favorite might have to be My Arms, Your Hearse. Not really sure why, it just doesn't appeal to me... |
I used to think it was weak, but seriously, just overall as an album it's amazing. Concept like Still Life, in fact, I see it as a slightly weaker Still Life really, except its darker and colder, and muddier. And the clean sections have more obvious 70's prog leanings with the effects used and such.
I just love the atmosphere of it now. |
I still maintain my favorite is Blackwater Park...everything just blends together so well on that album...
Least favorite might have to be My Arms, Your Hearse. Not really sure why, it just doesn't appeal to me...
My thoughts exactly. MAYH, while not being bad, is just not as epic and wonderful as their other releases. and yeah, BWP meshes so well together that I can listen to it all the way through countless times and never get tired of it. It's my favorite metal album of all time. |
Weird, MAYH is my favorite. It really, really affects me.
|
Everyone has different opinions about Opeth, so I wouldn't say you're wrong. The band has something for everyone so I can see if you like that album most.
The song that really blows my mind in terms of emotional greatness is "To Bid You Farewell". I don't know if I've heard a more beautiful song. |
Yeah, that song is amazing. By the way, I think I should become a reg in this thread, as I am a pretty big Opeth fanboy, haha.
|
Yeah man, the more the merrier. I'm trying to become a regular in here too, seeing as how Opeth is my favorite metal band.
|
:D This thread kinda dies down during the day at times. It'll be better with more people.
Favorite: MAYH Least Fave:Orchid. Little flow in the album. |
I love Orchid... I can't even defend why, I just get such an amazing feeling listening to that album, that I get with no other Opeth. I'm not saying it's my favorite, but I like it alot.
|
I wish I got it. I've tried to like it, and sadly I don't feel it. :(
|
When those acoustic lines kick in on any of the songs... I just forget all my troubles. :) And I don't care how amaturish the songs sound, those acoustic parts...
/drools |
The stuff sounds cool, I just don't feel the songs.
Stupid brain! |
The parts are great, I just dont really like the flow. One song seems like ten in one.
Its just my opinion though. |
Forest of October is one of my favorites. That one riff is just amazzzzing.
|
I like that one part in In the mist she was standing. that part around the 2 minute mark.
I love the album, Its just that its not my favorite Opeth album:D |
My favourite is between Blackwater Park/Still Life/Morningrise. :p
I have been waiting on Damnation and Deliverance from Amazon since January and they informed me yesterday that they "Could not source" Damnation. Ugh. So, another 2 weeks or so for Deliverance. Where the hell can I get Damnation?? Anyway... Least favoured album uhm... Orchid. I like it alot, but just like other albums more. |
Cant you get damnation from a CD store? They're pretty common around here. They always have a copy.
|
Yeah, I see Damnation everywhere.
|
Cant you get damnation from a CD store? They're pretty common around here. They always have a copy.
not fucking common here I'll tell you that for nothin. It's annoying. I have gotten all 6 of my Opeth CD's from HMV etc... and I even saw D + D once in the same shop. On the same day. But I hadn't planned on buying them that day. So I didn't, and I haven't seen them since. :upset: And on play.com they dont have either... |
Ask HMV if they can order it in for you.
|
Well thats gotta suck man. Is HMV over there really overpriced as well? They were trying to sell Orchid for 45$ couple months ago. Got reduced to 30 and I bought it.
HMV usually orders CDs for me if I ask:D |
On Monday I paid 65 bucks for Prometheus by Emperor, and Filosofem by Burzum...
|
No, the prices are fine... I got Orchid and MAYH for like 10 quid. (as in 5 each).
I might ask them to get it in. |

HMV= over priced metal CDs.
Canadian currency= 15% less that American. |

Gah! Why would you do that?! NP - Opeth - Windowpane |
Gah! Why would you do that?!
NP - Opeth - Windowpane
Because they slay. |
^^ That they do....but my copy of Prometheus was like $13. Why was yours so expensive?
I still maintain my favorite is Blackwater Park...everything just blends together so well on that album... Least favorite might have to be My Arms, Your Hearse. On itunes (if you have it) go to play count and see which song by opeth you've played the most. Mine is April Ethereal, The Moor, and Benighted in that order.
|

I have no idea, I got hosed for sure. But then again, I cannot find it at any other store. I checked another store in the same mall, they didn't even have a section for Emperor... They must think us metal heads are made of money. :upset: |

They must think us metal heads are made of money. :upset:
Or must think that they don't sell alot of metal CDS and have to make money some how. |
Lowering the prices would have been more effective. I would have bought another Emperor I had my eye on, as well as the 2 other Burzum albums they had. But they were all 30 dollars each, I wasn't going to spend 150 on 5 CDs!
|
My most played Opeth songs (since a few months ago when I started using Winamp)
Black Rose Immortal - 27 To Bid You Farewell - 16 Bleak - 9 White Cluster - 8 The Leper Affinity - 7 Nectar - 7 TNATSW - 7 BTISIO - 6 Face of Melinda - 6 Whoa wtf? I went and did it on Porcupine Tree and my most played song is Open Car?!?!?!? at 29?!? And SOSB is 27 and Trains is only number 3 at 26?!?!? |
On that note, I actually tend to listen to my favorite songs less, so it's always a special experience when I do.
