most people I know got into screamo via Orchid, Pg. 99 & Saetia.
Those people are either old heads or liars.

OR neither, but I'm jelly they lost their skramginity to Orchid and Pg. 99. :(
and most people I know who are into THE WAVE aren't into screamo at all, but alternative and "melodic hardcore".
Yeah but those bands (except La Dispute) are still screamo, regardless of some internet joke.
so honestly, IDK what you are talking about at all. the reason I don't like those bands are because they are retards.
Oh, so you've spoken to them?
and people still make fun of me. I'm still a loser. that I don't like those bands doesn't really affect that in any way.
Baby, I love you, I just think you try too hard.

And this is pointless to explain, but got into screamo via Cold Like December and Hot Cross and then my friends were like you should check out Circle Takes The Square and then eventually my best friend was like I think you'd really like Orchid and Union Of Uranus.

Iluvatar 11-12-2011 10:19 AM

i remember in 05 when i started listening to hot cross, ctts, orchid, saetia and pg99 and my brain NOT BEING ABLE TO HANDLE IT

i think the first skramz album i downloaded was doc 8. the song titles got me mang
Those people are either old heads or liars.
old? those people are my age or thereabouts.

the people I know who are older than me (like one of my friends who plays in three currently active emo bands. Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson, hop sing! & Wits End) got into emo via Ebullition and Gravity and that jazz, and played with pg99, and put out splits with La Quiete and all those other "quintessential" bands that got me into "screamo". some of them actually were in those "quintessential" bands, like the birds are spies, they report to the trees and others. OR they just don't listen to emo at all... OR stuff like The Appleseed Cast and The Shyness Clinic.

don't think I know anyone who got into emo at a point where these THE WAVE bands even existed.
Yeah but those bands (except La Dispute) are still screamo, regardless of some internet joke.
not really
Oh, so you've spoken to them?
have you spoken to adolf hitler no so how do you know he wasn't really a good guy. christ.

edit: BTW pretty sure the first "screamo" band I really listened to was Swing Kids, who I got into because I bought the Antioch Arrow CD that 31G put out, and they sent me a sampler.

If this isn't emo, then old Envy isn't emo.

You're comparing the dudes in Touche Amore to Hitler.

I know very cool people who are friends with the dudes in that band specifically, and all I've heard is great things. A band asking for guarantees on shows when they're touring doesn't make them bad people.

First part of this song could totally be in a Jerome's Dream song.

pixiesfanyo 11-12-2011 01:32 PM

i used to see the dudes in touche amore at shows here all the time. (they're from riverside i think)

they were really weird and i remember being really bored when ever i had to watch them open. not really into them, but i'm sure they are nice.

dudes in touche got butthurt when they got moved from a 40 minute to 30 minute set at the fest. wtf who even cares

witchxrapist 11-12-2011 01:38 PM

 that's pretty week, better stop listening to them.

Iluvatar 11-12-2011 03:13 PM

i know right HEAVEN FORBID

witchxrapist 11-12-2011 03:28 PM

BTW screamo is a very specific sound, there is no room for variation or innovation in the genre.

christsimpson 11-12-2011 03:31 PM

"screamo" doesn't exist outside of the Web AFAIK. we just call it emo. didn't you get the memo.

christsimpson 11-12-2011 03:43 PM

pixiesfanyo 11-12-2011 03:55 PM

i hate that record now.

christsimpson 11-12-2011 04:35 PM

cool man.

I'm listening to 7a7p, Hopesfall and underOATH.

Aakon_Keetreh 11-12-2011 04:35 PM

7a7p <3

christsimpson 11-12-2011 04:37 PM

listening to "Reinventing Your Exit". I like this quite a lot. but it's really... weird listening to this, compared to the albums before this. it's fun, but it sounds like a completely different band. it sounds a lot like AVA at times, LOL.

witchxrapist 11-12-2011 04:51 PM

They're Only Chasing Safety was the first Underoath album Spencer, Grant, and James were on, so of course it sounds completely different. It's crazy how different it sounds from the 3 albums after it though, considering those were all written by Timmy and James.

They're Only Chasing Safety is such a fucking catchy record though, for real.

christsimpson 11-12-2011 04:58 PM

well yeah it basically *is* a completely different band I know this

but it's still weird going from The Changing of Times to They're Only Chasing Safety, keeping in mind that this is supposed to be the same artist

really? I've heard kind of bad things about the guys in Touche Amore. Apparently they wouldn't let Negative Approach borrow their instruments to play some show that was going on, which I would understand if it was some relatively unknown band with zero reputation but I mean it's Negative Approach.

christsimpson 11-12-2011 06:51 PM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aZus_-1MFI this song is perfect. fuck it. that whole album is perfect.

christsimpson 11-12-2011 07:30 PM

that this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBheSBouGMI is perfect

publicastration 11-12-2011 07:31 PM

im pretty sure the first screamo-ish band i got into was Hot Cross

christsimpson 11-12-2011 07:33 PM

I'm pretty sure "When the Sun Sleeps" is totally My Bloody Valentine screamo
