One suggestion is that all of the mailing lists should be closed, and all the threadstarters to those threads should collaborate into one humongous thread. From there, they can post their screenshots/there can be one mass e-mailing, and people can select whether or not to download or not.

Personally, I don't download very often, if at all, because I don't like cheating artists and I have a tremendously slow connection at my permanent residence. I implement a try-it-before-you-buy-it approach, otherwise.

This is why I like the Request Music thread moreso than an entire album, but that's because that's just me, heh.

Nostalgia 12-10-2005 12:07 PM

The only problem I have with the mailing list is they flood up they first page to often, last time I counted their were seven mailing lists on the front page. It's not that I have a problem with it it's just...like Jom said if they would be in one thread it could be all in one huge coversation rather then spread through.

King_Of_Terrors 12-10-2005 12:10 PM

The only ones I'm actually getting are the Daily Upload and the Metal one.

Everything else should be closed, seeing they aren't being sent out.

Except mine!

the2stranger 12-10-2005 01:23 PM

I'm not keeping up with which one are still active, but I agree that mailing lists that aren't active anymore shouldn't be bumped anymore

I know it's not breaking any specific rules, but this isn't going anywhere, it will end up in hate and spam.

and I hope from the depth of my hearth that this user is a gimmick, and is not serious.
eveyrone has his right to opinions, but this one is just...

When I try to edit a post it says that I'm not signed in when actually I am. I sign in then, but then when I'm supposed to go back to the thread I was looking at it says something about an invalid thread.

Deconstruction 12-10-2005 03:04 PM

Illegal, http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=422239

MBS 12-10-2005 04:38 PM

What I've found about mailing lists is that no one signs up for them if it clearly doesn't have the word MAILING LIST on the title.

I banned Rats! for three days. He had a few other spam posts, as well.

There is only so much music to mail out. I think there should be a few mailing lists and then I think we should stop them for awhile...

The only ones that actually get sent out are the Daily Upload and Metal Mailing List. I don't think it's that bad. I don't see why everyone is complaining.

EDIT: Are we still doing Featured Genres? If so, I would really like dibs on the next one.

Bartender 12-10-2005 08:26 PM

Yeah, as far as I know. Try and get in contact with Dancin' Man and\or manuscriptreplica, for a start.

I also don't like the mailing list threads much. The request music thread can be immensely helpful, but all the mailing list ones just seem..wrong. To me.

Joe 12-10-2005 09:34 PM

I feel it's kind of wrong too. I'm all for buying and supporting artists and here I am downloading cds from these lists. I don't really know what to think. I really like the Request thread

I don't think everyone is.

King_Of_Terrors 12-10-2005 09:43 PM

Maybe not everyone, but alot of people seem to somewhat dislike the idea.
Maybe not everyone, but alot of people seem to somewhat dislike the idea.
It really is. It's a great idea to get people into the essentials and the stuff the average person would not know. There does come a point though when I think it needs to end.

I respect Dime and everything, but wasn't there a rather large memorial thread for him a day or two ago?

King_Of_Terrors 12-11-2005 08:33 AM

It's a Pantera thread, not so much a RIP DIMEBAG thread.
It's a Pantera thread, not so much a RIP DIMEBAG thread.
Its a little of both.

Freezing Moon 12-11-2005 07:23 PM

Please, please, please make everybody combine their mailing list threads, or just put a stop to all of the new ones that are popping up. There doesn't need to be one for every single genre.

It seems to me like the Daily Upload is the most popular, so I think everyone could just do their writeup and have it sent out in that. There are ridiculous amounts of them right now.

I would much rather have a page full of Mini F-A's than a page full of mailing lists. Maybe the screenshot idea can bring them back or something.

Shadows 12-11-2005 07:25 PM

Make some kind of subsections within the Daily Upload. Each ection could have a label of who's uplaod it is and what the link is for.

That would be more work. I think the Daily Upload is fine the way it is.

Nostalgia 12-11-2005 08:10 PM

Okay here are some of my ideas on things to change.

Official threads: Delete the thread, then start a fresh one after a couple months so fresher posts can be made, and it will encourage other people to join in on the threads.

mailing lists: Combine all threads into one, or you could get rid of all of them (with the exception on the daily upload) to be honest we do not need all of them. They fill up peoples in boxes and never end up listening to them.

People are getting the idea that we need a mailing list for every genre, I think the only true need for a mailing list is to show support in the upcoming of newer bands or bands that do not get respect on these forums.

These are just my ideas.

Kingofdudes 12-11-2005 08:14 PM

Dont delete the band threads. We started the Pink Floyd thread over and the same people are posting. Besides, how does having less posts make the thread "fresher"?

If anything some people in here need to stop being Nazis about everything not being in the right thread.

comptonassrobert 12-11-2005 08:24 PM

I agree with Kingofdudes.

The only thing I'd change is the mailing lists, I don't think they should stop, I just think that they should be put into one thread somehow, or something like that to free up a bit more space.

Because the mailing lists and Official band threads take up just about the whole 1st and 2nd page.

Nostalgia 12-11-2005 08:27 PM

Because, when threads get backed up like that, it's gets annoying seeing the same threads on the first page every time. If I have been gone for a week and then go back on the same threads will be their, with the exception of one or two.

If we deleted the band threads then started them over it wouldn't be so annoying seeing them all the time.

I agree people make to big of deal on the rules, this should be a democracy, not a dictatorship.

King_Of_Terrors 12-11-2005 08:32 PM

Why is everone saying that the mailing lists take up the whole front page! I'm going to go check it right now, you just wait.

There are three.

The first page holds 29 threads. Come on.
