wtf
it played better? i was unaware instruments were capable of playing anything
Let me rephrase to correctly use the English language: I was able to play better with that bass than any other bass I've ever held.
haha namm seems like the worst place ever everybody showin off their 17 string basses and ****
I saw quite a few 7-string basses and a couple 8-string basses, but nothing else. I was only able to play a few 7-strings because, like APC Instruments' green Churchill bass, the 7- and 8-string basses were usually there just to show potential construction, new prototypes, or finishes and weren't in playing order.
Anyone want to do me a favour? I want to buy a pedal from a guy in America, but he doesn't take Paypal or credit card (way to run an international business bro), so I'm stuck having to pay like £25 to make a transfer unless I want it to take like 3 weeks. Would anyone here be up for sending him a cheque, and I'll fully pay you with a Paypal payment?
I'd be willing to help you out, dude. Hit me up on my email: bassplayer420 at cheatcc dot com
Do you understand that NAMM stands for National Association of Music Merchants and it is a giant trade show where dozens of companies show off their new products for the year? It isn't about individual's gear collections or shredding. It's one of the best places to get a look under one roof at what new products and technologies are available for consumers in the coming months. It's wonderful.
This. They've got everything from Pro Audio Gear to classical instruments and marching band instruments. They've got musical insurance brokers and dozens of chinese manufacturer's looking for distributers to pick up their products. It's wonderful. Got to see Hadrien Feraud & Adrian Giorgio play a little ditty yesterday. I also saw Victor Wooten slap it up, only to have Bootsy Collins come up to him afterward and shake his hand. I met Ron Jeremy there also. Whodathunk? Sure, there are annoying bassists slapping everywhere and annoying guitarists shredding all over the place, but it's still wicked cool. Highlight of my day: The no-armed guitarist wandered over to the Carvin booth where I was, and started playing "Tom Sawyer" on bass. I jumped in and started singing over it and the guitarist across the way started jamming as well. We had a bit of a crowd by time we finished - it was awesome. :thumb: Lots of new and cool gear coming out. P3 just released phantom powered pedals and they can retro-fit a bass preamp for phantom power as well as current pedals for $65. I also found this company, Jet Fretz (http://www.jetfretz.com/) , that had some cool concepts of increasing attack and sustain just by increasing fret mass. I thought it was a little gimmicky, but they were getting a lot of business and I guess Victor Wooten had stopped by earlier and is having them install the new frets on his Fodera. There's also this other company, Wheatware, that makes guitar picks and drum sticks from wheat. They are fully biodegradable and will biodegrade in 4 months if buried in the ground. They handed me a couple picks, and they feel pretty solid. I can report more on the tonal comparisons later if anybody is interested. |

Haha. Flea and Chad came up, and Flea grabbed his FleaBass (which actually sounds great for the price...and through a $1500 GK stack) and Chad hopped on the little drum set, and they just played. It was pretty funky to listen to, but horribly crowded, so I wandered off. You guys knock it, but the truth is, NAMM is a lot of fun. You can try all of the newest gear, meet artists, here demos, attend music business classes, and meet people from all over the world there. It's a convention for people who have the same musical mind and appreciation. I met a couple promoters from CA and a couple local bands, so I made some connections there. I was also offered a job as a house blues bassist when I was over at the Ritter booth. I'm trying to figure out how I can get in next year. |
and I got hit by a car. again.
bent my front forks. /unhappy |
I may be setting myself up as a sole proprietor contract bass player for the band. I don't know that I make enough money from the band as it stands to fully reap the benefits of tax write-offs of gear and such, but if we start hitting it big and if I do some other contract work here and there, it'll help. I might also be able to work it so that I can get instruments and equipment tax-free. I need to look more into it.
|
youre not gonna hit it big.
|
youre not gonna hit it big.
I guess we have different ideas of hitting it big. For me, "hit it big" means that I can actually start getting paid from the band as opposed to keeping everything in the band fund. I'm shooting for $500 this year. |
lol aim real high
lol aim real high
I'm not going to be a multi-millionaire. I'll never get to play any major venue unless I'm in the crowd and the bass player has a heart-attack on stage and I run up to keep the set going. I'll never be able to do music as a full-time career. I'm a realist. I would like to get to the point, though, where my music starts paying me for the time, energy, and money that I've put into it over the past 7 years. |
im trollin good luck man

metal as in the industrial **** you or metal as in actual metal? |
idk what it is
it is what it is |
why am i the only fan of industrial in the bass forum
probably because every industrial song bass tab looks like this D - 0000000000000000000000000000000000 |
idk what it is
it is what it is
okay needs more jean baudin tapping covers tbh edit: you're the only industrial fan because industrial just isn't that good |
Because there are very few good industrial artists.
|
Because industrial just doesn't appeal to me?
I find it usually lacks decent music and poor vocal melody. Also not a fan of synthesizers with few exceptions. Nine Inch Nails is all I've really ever heard in the industrial genre, and they've kind of turned me away from it. |
I just secured two tickets to see Dinosaur Jr this Thursday. Gangster.
|
This PodXT Live is pretty sweet. Very easy to use, too, I've found with minimal messing around with it. I can see it being quite handy. It'll definitely be good for recording.
So, a pedal board and a massive multi-FX that's nearly as big as the board. Still can be managed. |

Nine Inch Nails is all I've really ever heard in the industrial genre, and they've kind of turned me away from it.
nin is one of the most popular musical brands in the world and industrial is a european thing, like dubstep all the best industrial bands are european there aren't really ANY american industrial musicians but who doesn't love combichrist, rammstein, and skinny puppy the appeal of industrial is sounding mechanical grinding gears distorted electronic instruments vocals almost dont even matter in fact i find it often very awkward trying to put melody over some of my songs |
but i like all kinds of music tbqh its very rare for me to hear a song and not like it on at least some level assuming it meets my criteria for mix and production quality
|
also dont confuse industrial with EBM (electronic body music) lotta people do that they aren't the same
|
Meh, from what I've heard, it just isn't for me.

This is a very industrialish/mechanical sounding song that I really like. Note: Not actually industrial music. DK - At My Job |
