I just picked up and played, I guess. EDIT: It's 5:11AM, I think I'm going to head to bed now. For real, not "post five minutes later with breaking news kinda real".:p |

That's the way Alexi plays it btw^^^.
Goodnight. |
That's the way Alexi plays it btw^^^.
Goodnight.
I have the video where shows the HCDR riffs. How hard is Bodom Beach Terror as a whole? What about that sweet chorus riff.... hahhahaha.. I shouldn't be taken seriously when I say I'll finish something or log off. I'm a world class procrastinator. It's 5 30 AM now and I really mean this. |
Yer that's it, Reap N' Roll licks.
Bodom Beach Terror is pretty difficult I'd say. That intro needs tight percussive palm muting. The verse riff can be tricky, it's pretty fast. The chorus is probably the easiest part. Interlude riff is tricky. Solo is hard too. So yeah, not a beginners song. |
One of the first 'Bodom songs i tabbed out entirely by ear.
The intro is a right rip off of Carcass, though :p |
http://s7.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2KD6N544B4S8C1NCJXEEM41YBU
^^ The better of the two. After listening to both of them. I think I really really rushed it. It was really hard to play without hearing what I was playing.
Sorry, I just heard it now. Man... that was... uh... really off it seemed. Yeah, you deffinately were in the wrong tuning. But I know all of those tabs tell you to do that trill part during the verses, but it is really played on the A string (in standard it's B haha). All it is, is this... a--2(1)2---6(5)6---10(9)10--- Then you just continue. A lot of tabs are wrong, I learned the entire song by watching videos of them playing it, or me doing it by ear. I know that trill-like part is completely correct, just watch any videos of them and you can see it perfect. Especially the live Tuska video. |
I have the video where shows the HCDR riffs.

It's not hard at all in my opinion. The solo is extremely hard though... I am never getting that one down. I saw the tabs on azchords.com and I think that are just a couple mistakes, but not many... they can all be adjusted by ear anyway.
I should do Walk by Pantera, since I'm such a Drop D fanboy. :p QUOTE] Actually, that song is tuned for everything dropped down one step, not dropped D. I know you can probably do it, but I am like a tuning nazi. I go around yelling at people for playing in wrong tunings sometimes :p |
I'll try that trill part you said out later.
I would tune to CGCFAD but my strings would be slack. EDIT: I guess the plus of my cover is it wows the hell outta ditzy girls I know. lawl. They think it's amazing. |
Well I learnt that solo last night, as in note wise, but it's not up to speed yet.

When you play something perfect, or close, they are usually freaked out... I played Chokehold in front of a friend of mine for the first time and she couldn't think of what to say haha. Well, anyway, just raise your bridge or tremelo a little and then drop the tunning so it doesn't slack. That always works for me at least. |
oh please *rolls eyes*

You seem like you are quite a bit ahead of me talent-wise. I tried to memorize the notes, but I couldn't... it's too hard in general. The rest of the song is pretty easy though in my opinion... especially the intro and chorus. That legato lick in the verse took a while to get up to speed though. Actually, I am still not sure it is up to speed, because everytime I get it fast it's all comming from an hour minimum of warming up. |
would like to know why you detune your guitars to d or c or b or whatever. how said before i once detuned it to b-standard and for me it seems to be a more natural feeling to play lover than in standard (e-tuning). i was able to write better songs/riffs. it was a more natural feeling... maybe because i like the dark feeling and i am a depressive person. well, i want to know your reasons for detuning....

If it learn a huge solo in a few minutes, I'll probably forget it in under a month but if I take my time, like a few days or week, I'll know it for ages. My technical skill is higher than anyone I know in person which can be good and bad. But then again, everyone in my music class are indie-ish or emo's. |

and does anybody know why the standard e-tuning become standard in general music?
/gn8 |
and does anybody know why the standard e-tuning become standard in general music?
/gn8
I think cause it didnt have any sharps or flats |
It's something to do with shapes.
When the guitar was invented, people tryed loads of tunings and EADGBE was the easiest to play all the shapes and scales they come up with. Something like that. But I'm not sure why it's E and not C# standard. |
It doesn't matter much to me. I use almost all of the standard and dropped d type tunings. I don't tune to open chords really. I usually stay standard e with one guitar because a lot of the older bands I know used it. It has also made an easier learning experience for me with learning the finger positionings for chords and such.
|
I think practising in E is better so when you go play on a guitar in a lower tuning, it will be easier. If you practised in D standard, then played on a guitar in E, it would seem harder. Unless, of course, if you practise on a drop tuning guitar that has thicker gauge strings so it's the same tension.

Yea. Whenever I practice I practicce in standard. Especially if I'm playing scales. |
Im just curious as to the reasons why you all drop tune. I'll drop down to D for one extra and makes it easier for me to right fast more complex rythms.
There are some classical pieces that are in drop D. |
Yea. Whenever I practice I practicce in standard. Especially if I'm playing scales.
Same, but I rarely practice anymore.

I always practice 5 hours a day. *cough* |

Well, burn on yourself then.
|
I play a couple hours a day, most days.
2-4 hours range. Some might call me lazy but I'm in college and I work hard at everything I do. guitrguy: I tune to Drop D because I love the sound of it. That's pretty much it. No fancy reasons. I can't tune down to CGCFAD, which I'd like to because my strings will flop like fish outta water. I don't change between DGCFAD , DADGBE and EADGBE...because with floyd locking tremelo... Tuning different all the time to play each song, would be a bitch. |
Well, burn on yourself then.
:'( |
I'll be practising hopefully around 12 hours this following week since I have no college.
Get up at 10am-1pm and play till like 10-11pm. That's my plans anyway, whether I'll actually obey that is a different story. |

I am too much of a computer geek to stay away from this thing. Then I have homework/study and such. I think the most I have ever played is somewhere around 4 hours. Yeah... I don't think I have ever topped that... |
12 hours is a lot. I can't even do 4 hours, I get bored and go on the computer or something. Yay, computer geek! haha.
|
I usually do just do that too but I'm starting to experience myself starting to suck.
Trust me, if I used a metronome and practised every chance I could since I discovered Yngwie Malmsteen, I'd be ****ing incredible. BUT The internet rules my life atm, so me = teh suck. |
Damn internet. I should listen to Malmsteen more..
|
I meant to listen to my Yngwie CD earlier but I forget to go get it.

Which album?
