Hahaha, nice. I love him though, his lyrics and vocals are just beautiful, and often heart-wrenching.
Death Cab rule, I really want them to come to Australia. Come! |
is he really fat? i find that hard to believe, that that voice came from a fat guy
not fat-fat, just a little thick |

Just so everyone knows, it's Endtroducing, not Entroducing.
Yeah. Dug: Johnny Cash - At San Quentin The Drones - Wait Long by the River... Pulp - Different Class The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots |
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Tortoise - TNT Tortoise - s/t Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady |
The Black Heart Procession - The Spell (Holy ****, this is good. I wasn't expecting it to be this good.)
Sunset Rubdown - Sunset Rubdown (EP) |
I might be addicted to "Bubblegum" by Annie.
|
"The First Song" is the good kind of epic, as opposed to the bad kind of epic (Blueberry Boat or Destroyer's Rubies). There needs to be more "The First Song"s in the world.
I still think it sounds like a B-side from My Morning Jacket's Z. It's not that bad, but it's definitely not special either. Oh well, I can handle them being a buzz band, as long as its not a CYHSY-like group, I'm happy. |

-The Essex Green - Everything is Green
A nice little E6 group (at least I think they're from E6?). Nothing special, and pretty standard as far as the whole E6 neo-psych thang goes, but they're pretty enjoyable. -Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot I'm sure y'all are quite familiar with it, but I just gave Wilco my first proper listen last night. Me likey. -maudlin of the Well - Bath/Leaving Your Body Map I've been ignoring them in favor of Kayo Dot for a while now... I had to bust them out again. And boy howdy, I realized how awesome The Secret Song is. I never listened to that one enough back in my major motW heyday. -Blonde Redhead - Misery is a Butterfly Still somewhat stuck in my minor obsession with this. I just can't dig the dude's singing. And I can't seem to dig the other album I've heard of theirs, either. Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons is its name. Me not diggin' it is its game. And I'm currently playing Isis - Panopticon. Another good'n I haven't digged out to dig in a while. |
Galaxie 500 - Today
So good. May be overtaking This Is Our Music as the best G500 album.
On Fire beats them both. Camper Van Beethoven - Telephone Free Landslide Victory Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff The Beets |

They've got an album coming out later this month, Cannibal Sea. Pretty well-executed pop that I just can't seem to care enough about to get into. I'm listening to Stan Getz's Captain Marvel for the first time with a semi-"oh-shit" face popping up every now and then. Really good stuff, with my limited experience of Getz, never even saw it coming. Fast paced and wildly rhythmic. |
So I got Speaking In Tongues and Little Creatures, the last two Talking Heads DualDiscs I want yesterday. Speaking In Tongues is another album I only ever heard on vinyl and mp3. The new stereo mix is superb. Superb, superb, superb. Little Creatures I always kind of ignored, and always heard was plenty good compared to their earlier material, so I took its re-release as an opportunity to give it a fair chance. It's great too.
Indeed, they're easy to not care about. They're fairly good, but you could easily ignore them in favor of some other better, more unique bands. I like 'em, but they're not something I'll be able to listen to on any sort of regular basis. |
Husker Du - Zan Arcade
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Jon Spencer Blues Explosion The Jon Spencer album is enjoyable, in a bizarre sort of way. |
5 Björk albums.
I haven't heard too much Björk before, but so far, Post > Debut. Debut is a bit too cheesy and sounds dated. I haven't heard the other ones yet. |
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
After the Flood is the best song ever guys, honestly. |
this little band out of Tuscaloosa called, Baak Gwai... 799 and Long Night are worth checking out...
|
Bouncing Souls - How I Spent My Summer Vacation
It's just so much fun, so catchy and full of great songs with kickass choruses. Listening to this just now makes me realise how much i miss this stuff. |
I've been listening to this Mos Def/Prefuse 73 album I found on soulseek entitled Urbanrenewalprogram/Ninjatune. For the most part it's really a V/A compilation with RJD2, Miho Hatori and some other dudes (such as.. Tortoise???). It's pretty good considering I haven't heard most of the artists in it.

I've got the former on regular cd, a teacher at my school sold it to me for $2 or something. I'd be interested to hear the new mix, I might even buy it. |
Bad Brains - Black Dots
In some ways I prefer it to their s/t. It's got Don't Bother Me and the Man Won't Annoy Ya. The production is also very good. |
Hypatia Lake - ......And We Shall Call Him Joseph
Holy ****, this is good. Reminds me of The Jesus And Mary Chain. It's a shoegazey concept albumy thing. "Hypatia Lake seamlessly merges elements of noisy shoegaze a la Slowdive, the electronic textures of M83, weirdo-pop via Mercury Rev, organically psychedelic elements similar to Pink Floyd, and woefully emotional vocals reminiscent of Arcade Fire's Win Butler." |
Alarm Will Sound
I can't stop listening to them. |
Tub Ring, because I'm going to see them tonight.
The Offspring - Americana, because I've been meaning to take a trip down memory lane to where I was about 9-10. |
Super Furry Animals - Mwng
Listening to music sung in Welsh makes me feel hip. |
Mogwai - Mr. Beast
More specifically, the DVD that came with it. This is a gorgeous album, one of their best records. The DVD is a 40 minute documentary on the recording of the album. So you see the guys screwing around while some record and others play games, talk, make eggs, etc etc. It's a nice little accompaniment to the full album. |
I didn't know it came out.
|
I didn't know it came out.
It comes out next Tuesday and since I preordered it, it arrived a little early. |
Modest Mouse - Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In (Positive Negative)
Cursive - Art is hard Beats for Beginners - Need You Tonight Elliott Smith - Independance Day |
Black Flag - First Four Years
I can play a mean blues guitar version of Wasted. |
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
|
Le Car - Auto-Biography.
Pretty fun. |
The National - Alligator
I still think there is some filler, but this album gets better every listen. City Middle is an incredible song though. If you want to hear the National download that song, it's perfect. |
Mogwai. I'm getting ready to see them on Tuesday.
