Moogerfoogers are too big, bulky, and visually unappealing to me. I'm a fan of slight tone coloration, so my effects are always run in parallel when possible.
But they're so amazing. That's all I can say.

Anyway, my rig is almost complete. I really want to upgrade my amp to something truly badass. My amp is good, but it could be so much better. Something that sounds way nicer.

Sup butt munches.

Hitting the studio tomorrow to start recording a 3 song demo (more if it turns out not to take as long as we're expecting). w00t

That 4/2 split on the pickup is on the wrong side for a balanced tone.

Crapdragoon 01-16-2010 05:14 AM

the fretless strings are octaves of the fretted 3rd and 4th strings

That is bizarre, and to me seems pretty useless.

mfb 01-16-2010 09:54 AM

pretty cool, but what's the price spike for that?

Watch it.

I love Ibanez but that fretted/fretless hybrid is the most ugly and stupid thing this side of Roseanne Barr.

Gerald Veasley sig looks tight though. Very narrow string spacing (14 mm) but I'd have definitely wanted to test play that alongside the SR706 if I hadn't have already made the purchase.

*Twitch*.

I'm at NAMM this weekend. w00t.

Met Jens Ritter yesterday and played this bass:

Not only has it re-affirmed my love for Ritter in so many ways, it also played better than any other bass I've encountered yet (I played 4 or 5 others, like that $9000 6-string Fodera Monarch, amongst other $6000+ basses from various highly-regarded luthiers).

This bass has an insane preamp in it that is so versatile. I can flip it into passive mode and get some sexy jazz and p-bass tones, but I can also make it active and get ANY FLIPPING SOUND I WANT. In 10 minutes, while playing and having Jens adjust the preamp for me, I emulated every one of my basses' tones, and found about 30 more that were sexy sexy sexy.

The 35" scale helped, but all of the strings, even though slightly smaller than my preferred gauge, had amazing tension. The B-string was incredibly tight and sexy.

I NEED a Ritter. I have completely rejected my previous "many one-trick pony basses" belief after playing this Ritter. I will gladly sell all of my basses to buy a 6-string Ritter like that one. I am now in bass heaven.

Dude, I know. SO DISTURBING.

He had airtime for 90 seconds...and THAT is what he does? He must have been on PCP or SOMETHING.

Haven't you heard?

It's not the bassist, it's the bass. :p

Just got Mass Effect. Going to try and finish it before ME2 comes out. >_<

Spaceman Spiff 01-17-2010 01:23 PM

A few friends pitched in and got me a Line 6 PodXT Live for my birthday. Pretty sweet.

NAMM is fantastic, there is no other opinion.

idk from what i gathered it's just like a "look at all the awesome stuff i have and how fast i can shred on it" convention

i'd rather jam in my friend's garage than be at namm is what i'm saying

fatbandit 01-17-2010 05:31 PM

Anyone want to do me a favour? I want to buy a pedal from a guy in America, but he doesn't take Paypal or credit card (way to run an international business bro), so I'm stuck having to pay like £25 to make a transfer unless I want it to take like 3 weeks. Would anyone here be up for sending him a cheque, and I'll fully pay you with a Paypal payment?

gaslight 01-17-2010 05:32 PM

Do you understand that NAMM stands for National Association of Music Merchants and it is a giant trade show where dozens of companies show off their new products for the year? It isn't about individual's gear collections or shredding. It's one of the best places to get a look under one roof at what new products and technologies are available for consumers in the coming months.

It's wonderful.

fatbandit 01-17-2010 05:39 PM

I'm a gear nerd. I love looking at new things, even if it's only to dismiss them ;p I'd love to go to NAMM, but if it's anything like Bass Day over her, it'll piss me off too much with incessant slapping with horrid tone from the display booths while I'm trying to check out new pedals :/

gaslight 01-17-2010 05:55 PM

Oh of course there are certain people who would make it annoying, but that their fault, not the fault of NAMM or the gear. Hate annoying people all you want as long as you attribute the hate accurately.

Yeah, I just got off of playing it for, like, 7 hours. It's very well done. There aren't enough good sci-fi games.
