I'm surprised all the Bruce Dickinson fans haven't rushed in and flamed everybody yet. Nice to see that people are at least somewhat understanding of others opinions. I like Bruce the best myself, but I respect Blaze for stepping in when he knew that most of fans of Bruce Dickinson would never let him live it down.

i reckon Blaze done it more to be able to say "yeah I sang for Maiden more than you have done" u no what i mean
|
Bruce isnt that great he cant do the songs that dianno and Blaze did
I don't know - he does very good versions of Sanctuary, Sign Of The Cross, The Clansman and Wraithchild on RiR. |

indeed, but they are written for different voices, the Dianno ones he is better at because obviously he has more practice, you only hear bruce sing three or four Blaze-era songs(he did an excellent version of lord of the flies last year.) |
the only song i've heard Bruce be bad at is prowler
as for Blaze the only time i've heard him live is the unfortunate spitting incident so i know he can do much better |
I like bruce the best but also love the stuff blaze does now and did in maiden, he is fantastic, if you think he sucks live, try "as live as it gets" and be proved massively wrong
Blayze...ive tried for almost 6 years now to enjoy those two albums and only a handful of songs stick out to me. Its not just him, its the entire band. The era i think was just unoriginal and the entire group did not play at their best. Davey's leads wernt as wonderful (on BNW and DOD though hes ripping!) and Steve repeated old bass lines over and over, just wasnt anything unique about them. Blayze and Janick wrote alot together, and Janick's gift to the band is his rhythem guitar and riff writing (his leads however....welll lol) and i think Steve was burnt out of ideas and refused to let Maiden die even if it meant being a subpar version of what it had been. Blayze had to low a register to be a Maiden vocalist, although he put all he had into the group...it really shows how Maiden isnt Maiden without Bruce and Adrian. |
Adrian is an amazing songwriter, he wrote half of 7th son on his own i think.

he wrote a lot of somewhere in time as well, one of my favourite albums :D |
Somewhere in Time is an awesome album, my favourite songs on it are...all of them. best one IMO is loneliness of the long distance runner, its just great.
|
My two fave albums are SSOASS and SiT, which proves that Adrian = Music writing god.

Yeah...I remember after being used to the RiR version of The Clansman, hearing the album version. Blazes voice just didn't have anything behind it on the "No! No we can't let them take anymore!" bit, whereas thats the highlight of the song for me on the RiR version. |

cant go wrong with anything from Brave New World, my second fav album :) and wow...Janick had a really killer lead in it for once :thumb: lol
|
and Janick's last solo is just amazing, all the emotion thats poured into it.
/yawns. well, off to bed it is then. bye all. |
I honestly don't rate virtual xi as highly, but X-factor is in my top 3 maiden albums, I see every track on there as killer even just for the brilliant blaze bits... "I'm just a soldier!"
/cue solo |
Listening to "Sun and Steel" now, a big power metal-like song. It was also used in a segment on MTV's "Jackass" when someone was being dragged behind a horse for fun.
|
Hey has anyone heard of a Maiden song called "take me home" i downloaded it and its a deadly song, but i cant find where it came from. any idea?

I just VXI, there's nothing really slow about them, except the intros. |
i started learning Paschendale on bass the other day, didn't get past the intro yet, i haven't had much free time lately.
