Apocalyptic Raids 02-10-2006 11:13 PM

I hate playing standing up. I suck at it.

sitting down ist krieg

PsychoticFlubber 02-10-2006 11:15 PM
Garageband.

Mac users only though. :p

You can do that with Audacity as well though. Just import what you want, and click record. You'll start recording with whatever's imported playing in the background.

Garageband has horrid amp emulators though. I got mad pissed at it.

Now, we had to send our preamp box back too, so I don't get to test out our shiny new M-Audio Solaris condenser mic.
Thanks about Audacity, it is deffinately good for now! I only hear good things about Garage Band though... always wanted to give it a try.

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 12:42 AM

Has anyone ever tryed the interlude in Wrath Within or the intro lead to Towards Dead End??

I'm trying to record Towards Dead End, it's pretty tricky to get perfect everytime.

I like standing up better, but not for long periods of time. I have a Jackson V so it's always a challenge to play when sitting down, but I find I can usually play the solo's better standing down but I'm more comfortable overall standing up.

Mr.Metalton 02-11-2006 01:28 AM

Whats easier to do to play solos standing up is to have ur foot leaning on the chair and its makes ur hand more relaxed. A lot of guiarist such as Petrucci use this technique.

Drunken Viking 02-11-2006 01:33 AM

I do that sometimes but with the shape of my guitar it always slips.

Mr.Metalton 02-11-2006 01:36 AM

what model is it?

Aaron_Of_Oz 02-11-2006 03:01 AM

That's a real nice guitar, what colour is it?

I'm Charming 02-11-2006 04:35 AM

I recorded Sixpounder tonight.

I'll post in the morning or whenever I wake up. :chug:

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 04:43 AM

Looking forward too it.

I recorded the Wrath Within interlude and part of demonstration #2 of Passage to the Reaper.

If people thought your tone was bad, wait til they hear mine. It's enough bass to cause a earthquake.

I listened to it and I think I really rushed it alot. I didn't play with a backing track nor could I really hear what I was playing.

Not being able to really hear what I was playing really didn't help my cause. haha.

^^ The better of the two.
After listening to both of them. I think I really really rushed it. It was really hard to play without hearing what I was playing.

The lesser one.

Jackson JS30, Marshall amp, played through that onto Audacity on my laptop.

"I'll post in the morning or whenever I wake up."

lol that was a quick sleep. But I haven't even gone to bed yet, it's now 11am.

Anyway, what tabs did you use for Sixpounder?

I think it was from metaltabs. I don't remember.

It's tuned to DADGBE when technically it's played by Bodom in D standard,

What were your thoughts on the recording?

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 05:06 AM

Tbh it sounded weird. You say the tab was in DADGBE, they use CGCFAD for that song so I guess that's one thing that threw me off.

I see what you mean about the tone being incredibly bassy, it was kinda cool in a way though.

No. Sorry.

I meant my guitar is tuned to DADGBE.

I thought the song was in D standard, though CGCFAD could sound right.

What sounded wierd to you?

Did you too think it was rushed?

EDIT:
I just looked at the txt file here.

It says CGCFAD. You were correct.

Oh right.

I guess you're playing it a different way to me so that why it sounds weird.

Do you mean rushed as in tempo wise or not put enough practise in?
Cause I didn't really think it was that fast and it wasn't extremely sloppy either so I dno.

You are exactly right though.

It's wierd... because something just doesn't feel right yet it's not sloppy.

By rushed I meant tempo. It seems that way to me at least.

I couldn't really hear what I was playing when recording it, which didn't help.

I don't think it's a matter of the tuning it's in though.

BTW, Your cover of Sixpounder is the one cover off MX, I've left in iTunes after listening to it. :thumb:

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 05:19 AM

That tab is a bit different to the way I play. Just the B secion I play powerchords on the A string notes and I dno what those other things are, I'd believe they were meant to be harmonics of some sort but I just play straight notes.

Thanks for the comments on mine too.

Btw, do you want the backing track?

no but thanks though.

Did you think my cover was good or bad...Besides that it just wierd.

1/10....Ten being the best, 0 being worthless junk.

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 05:28 AM

I guess I'd say 4.5 I spose.

I'm Charming 02-11-2006 05:31 AM
I guess I'd say 4.5 I spose.
I didn't think it was too great.

What were the good and bad points about it?

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 05:37 AM

Well I think the only thing that made it seem weird to me was the tuning being different and different notes.
I kinda liked the ultra bass, even though it was muddy too, it was still tighter than my tone.

I'm Charming 02-11-2006 05:41 AM

Drop D is almost as low as I can tune though.

I'd prolly be able to do DGCFAD.

I play on super slinky ultra light thin strings. Therefor the lower I tune the more they flop like fish outta water.

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 05:51 AM

You shud get yourself a fixed bridge guitar, like my BC Rich Warlock, it can handle anything....unless you already have a fixed bridge.

What do you mean Fixed Bridge?

I have floyd rose locking tremelo if that's what you meant.

EDIT:

I've played several BC Rich guitar and never really liked them.

There was one I liked but it was a rip off for that much money though.

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 05:56 AM

Yeah, a fixed bridge is just the opposite, like a Les Paul.

Floyds and Edge Pros are floating.

What will a Fixed Bridge allow me to do though?

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 06:02 AM

They hold tuning better and can go lower without being too slack.
As in, I can drop my Warlock down an octave and it'll be about the same tension as my RG in drop C.

An octave being F? Like Meshuggah?

Sorry I'm not a expert in that stuff.

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 06:22 AM

Octave being E, so being actually the same pitch as a bass guitar.
Meshuggah use that for "Stengah" off their Nothing album.

E, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb,.

I'll be posting my slayer raining blood cover soon.

I think I'll need to practice it up alot cuz I got really rusty on that song, espeically the walkdown at the start of it.

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 06:37 AM

Yeah, awesome song. I would play some Slayer and other stuff if my guitar was in Eb. Maybe I'll do it later.

I've done Stain of Mind before.

I doubt I'd tune to that even though it would take five seconds.

I love the sound of Drop D.

I actually think raining blood sounds better in Drop D then Eb.

On the fast part after the walkdown, I think that really sounds alot better/heavier in Drop D.

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 06:44 AM

Oh, I've never tryed it, the fingerings would be different and I'd probably get pissed off with it. I could tune to C# or something and use GP as a backing track.
And so could you if you have it.

The way I play Raining Blood in DADGBE is..

Instead of the top string on the 5 3 2 6 4 3 riff.

I bar it, nice and heavy .

I have to get that walkdown though. I used to play it as good as Slayer even on a acoustic. I didn't play it for a long time and I'm fairly rusty on it.

I should do Walk by Pantera, since I'm such a Drop D fanboy. :p

I've thought about doing The Quiet Place by In Flames... I already know bits and pieces and it's not very hard.

Anyone play Everytime I die by CoB?

I've played through it casuelly.. Is it as easy as it seems?

MRDuCran 02-11-2006 06:54 AM

Might have to give that a try.

After I've learnt the Bodom Beach Terror solo of course.

What are the corrent cords at the beginning of Bodom Beach Terror?

I have a tab for it laying around...Alot seems right but the cords at the beginning seem off.

F#5.......F#5,G5.
F#5.......D5,A5.
