hey man
quit being so up on yourself you dont have to be a mechanic to fix cars just like you dont gotta be a musician to be a critic |
wtf are you talking about
ya im "up on myself" (whatever that means) for thinking kids who cant make music shouldnt be credible when it comes to making music just like im up on myself cuz i take my car to a mechanic instead of the 16 year old kid next door who never leaves his xbox
Awful analogy that falls short on many counts. I'm not wasting my time arguing with you, though. Keep your internet superiority. I don't care. You win. I bow down. |

A lot of bikes still used them up until very recently because we didn't have the technology to make injectors that small. And considering a lot of developing countries use like 90% bikes for motorised transport and they'd no doubt mostly be built before the 21st century I'd say that a lot of carburettors are still in use and still perfectly valid as a means of mixing fuel and air. |

So I think I was massively overpaid, awesome.

Those aren't real countries like America. |
You ain't a real country till you've dropped the bomb.

F**K I dropped a F-bomb. Now I'm my own country. My first plan of action is to annex the MX Bass Forum. To further justify my mixer and 3 basses on stage, the two guitarists and I have decided to do a cover of Big Bottom, and modify the lyrics slightly to dedicate the song to our big-bottom'd vocalist. Even better, we're going to have practices without her and bust it out on stage randomly at one of our shows. |
It seems that the old crew is gone, they're not making Spider-Man 4, but they are going to reboot the series with new writers, actors, etc.
I love Sam Raimi for giving us the Evil Dead trilogy, but these Spider-Man movies have been garbage. I hope it doesn't get screwed up again. |
To make my life more complicated, I've decided to build my pedalboard with two tiers that separate via latches. The top tier will contain only the wireless unit, mixer, and EQ pedal. The bottom tier will contain all other effects. That way, depending on necessity, I can choose to bring all of my effects or just the bare essentials to the gig.
|
That's probably a good idea. Your top tier can be set and forget type units, while the bottom and more convenient to your feet will be all the pedals you actually turn on and off.

Exactly. With the exception of the EQ pedal, everything on top is an always-on piece. Also, if this design pans out like I'm hoping it does, I'll put up plans and material costs for anybody interested. |
While we're on about pedals, here's my latest incarnation:

While we're all in a DIY mood, I've been drawing up concepts for a custom gig bag I want to have made. Just not sure who to actually take it to to have it made when it's all ready to go, I'm thinking a tailor or a luggage maker or something. Going to cost a pretty penny I imagine but it'll be worth it to have a good gig bag for once.

There are tons of really good gig bag companies - just check out TB. Body glove makes a really solid gig bag for about $100. I don't know that it would be cost-effective to have one made unless you were looking for something flashy or absolutely needed an extra inch of cargo space that nobody else offers. |
It's a huge step in downsizing from my old board, if you remember it. Initially I was just gonna downsize to the wireless, M9 and an expression pedal, but it's expanded a bit.
I've also done the measuring, and I reckon by swapping the DT-10 out for a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, I'll have enough space on there for one more MXR sized pedal. So I'm going to find something which just makes a godawful racket and buy it. |
I'm going to measure out specs for my pedalboard tonight when I'm done with my paper (one page left to go!). I expect it will be about as wide as 6 chained boss pedals with a couple inches on either side.

Not that I like Warcraft but I think it'll be good. I think he was originally slated to do the Hobbit, Guillermo Del Toro is doing it now though, which, imo, will **** all over Jackson's LOTR. |
Mixer should be in today, got a hookup with an eight-foot 1x4 piece of wood yesterday, and the latches will be here next week. Winter class is over (final test tonight). Going to NAMM this weekend, and then next week - I start my pedalboard build and work on re-finishing that Squier P-bass.
Awesome. |
My pedal board is very simple. One piece of wood, pedals arranged neatly and stuck on with velcro. Power supply stuck on in similar fashion. With superb placement, cords from the power supply reach all the pedals with ease, and patch cords run from one pedal to the next in a tidy manner.

Sounds like my guitarist's board and my old board. Unfortunately, I've done a bit of upgrading and rather than take up more space on the ground, I'm going to re-design for more vertical applications, hence the 2-tier idea. |
I just don't have that much stuff that would make that necessary, nor do I want that much.
If I did anything insane as far as pedals are concerned, I'd drop $1000 on a few Moogerfoogers. |

It's new amp day today. Forgot to take pictures though :(

Fail. I was looking at getting some of those George L cable for the pedal board I'm building, but man, it would cost me $200 to build all the cables for one board - that's over half of the amount I've put into the actual pedals. Anybody know of any cheaper DIY solutions? EDIT: Parts-express has thin right angle jacks and cable for wicked cheap. Sweet. |
