pixiesfanyo 02-28-2006 05:55 AM

I'd have to go with Donuts being not like Endtroducing at all, besides that fact that it's made of samples.

Happymeal 02-28-2006 07:16 PM

^I'll check that one out.

Sigh - Imaginary Sonicscape

Part j-rock, part black metal, part funny, with synths. It reminds me of Arcturus' The Sham Mirrors at times. Good stuff.

and Sneaker Pimps as well. They make me feel so nostalgic.

asymm 02-28-2006 07:18 PM

Oval - "94 Diskont"
This electronic stuff has really been hitting the spot recently.

Glitterati 02-28-2006 07:34 PM

I'm listening to The Dead Milkmen today. Really fun novelty punk band from Philadelphia in the '80s. If you enjoy music that is stupid yet fun at the same time, I highly recommend you check them out.

Dog 02-28-2006 08:46 PM

I didn't know that one of "those" songs I've heard so many times was actually "Backwater" by Meat Puppets

Someday I hope to learn what all of "those" songs actually are. One step at a time!

Matt? 02-28-2006 09:42 PM

man i love the meatpuppets

the way the vocals drag on in most of their songs is my favorite part, how he holds the notes so often

Fatboy Slim

Spectrum 03-01-2006 12:07 AM

Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Got their first album on vinyl - cool, cool stuff. I love how the last groove on the record is locked, so it repeats the last drone forever.

Devin Davis - Lonely People of the World, Unite!
Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - Hearts of Oak

Good hails and tidings to all:
This is my first post, and I'm using it to let you all check out the Weber Brothers. If you like classics such as: Bob Dylan, The Band & The Hawks. you'll love the Weber Brothers. Check out their website www.weberbrothers.com OR www.CanadaJams.ca for the lastest review with Ronny Hawkins as The Young Hawks.

deja vu?

Kyle 03-01-2006 11:07 AM

I've been listening to lots of reggae this week, Really enjoying Burning Spear and Black Uhuru right now.

Also my Guns N' roses fascination is rolling on, it's a bizarre yet highly satisfying mix. rock outto Guns N' Roses, then chill out to some reggae.

ClayPigeon 03-01-2006 11:35 AM

Liars - Drum's Not Dead
Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies
The Fiery Furnaces - Bitter Tea

rocknrollstar5 03-01-2006 11:42 AM

Neil Young - Keep On Rockin In The Free World and My My, Hey Hey
Neil Diamond - Delirious Love
The Beatles - Revolver

Best Beatles album, no question.
Absolutely, my 2ND favourate album ever!!

Mr Observations 03-01-2006 12:13 PM

Pelican - Australasia
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
Amusement Parks on Fire - s/t

yeah that's a good mix of stuff. That's the first time for a while that i've listened to anything by Talk Talk other than Laughing Stock, because what's the point when Laughing Stock is so perfect. Spirit of Eden is nice too though.

Ornery Cephalopod 03-01-2006 03:19 PM

I have Mono. The illness, not the band.

So I've been diggin' stuff that isn't necessarily suited for people stricken with mono, but I'm pretending it is anyway:

-Mastodon - Leviathan
-Friends of Dean Martinez - Random Harvest
-a rap mix playlist containing: Deltron 3030, Cannibal Ox, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Sage Francis, The Pocket Dwellers, The Roots, De La Soul, Jedi Mind Tricks, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and 2-Pac
-Mogwai - Mr. Beast
-Down - s/t
-Acid King - III

Mmmm.... these jams take my mono and make it seem like stereo. Mayhaps even like Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm just using a pair of stereo computer speakers.

ClayPigeon 03-01-2006 03:38 PM

Still digging those stated above as well as these:

The Books - The Lemon of Pink
(Seeing them in concert on 4-6)

Jackie-O-Mother****er - Flags Of The Sacred Harp
(Really a kickin album, highly recommended)

Little Man being Erased 03-01-2006 05:14 PM

The Vines - Highly Evolved

Whatever. I still like this album.

asymm 03-01-2006 05:17 PM

Dub Tractor - Hideout
and
Sébastien Roux - Songs

YDload 03-01-2006 05:21 PM

"A Classic Arts Showcase" is definitely the highlight of Worlds Apart from Trail of Dead. Appropriately epic and grandoise for this band, and I can't get enough of that song (as well as the two adjacent songs "Caterwaul" and "Let It Drive").

Also Clouds Taste Metallic by Flaming Lips. I keep accidentally typing "metallica" when I type that album title :(

Jawaharal 03-01-2006 05:44 PM
The Ladies - They Mean Us

Aside from "Empathy On a Stick", these songs are pretty weak. I like this solely for the drumming.
Ya, I just got this too. Its not stunning but its 3/5 material for me.
