As I said, I was misinformed as to what the stuff actually sounded like.

Carnivore Diprosopus is an exception, because they actually play riffs not one note chugs. But after hearing them again, I would say they're more brutal death than anything. I haven't heard Cephalotripsy.

Lots of brutal death borders on slam, you have to be careful. Where's purplefeet when you need her, she could probably help you out. I dont think many people in here listen to that stuff.

Doom tends to flow perfectly well. And, I know the guitarwork is simple, but it works. The blastbeats work as well, and bass drops are cliche, but they don't detract from the music.

The drummer hits the floor tom and kick generally as hard as he can while the bass player does a slide. When they record it, the engineers also usually link a 40Hz oscillator tone to it for extra "boom".

And yes, it's generally placed leading into a super-generic breakdown.
