the stock ones that came with my maverick
 That's weird, they are supposed to be good.

Could be something to do with your POD, you should send it to me...for fixing :D

Lord Abortion 07-01-2005 05:38 PM
I would say go for Brave New World, Rock in Rio or Fear of the dark (3 of my favourite Maiden albums)
get rock in rio or live after death, great setlists

for studio get- x-factor, POM or seventh son

oh and titch, I REALLY need to talk to you about rehearsal. get your arse off World of warcraft and onto MSN more...

Lord of Sword 07-01-2005 06:17 PM

my favourite live album by them is the Beast Over Hammersmith. best live sound of any of their albums, bruce is much better than he was on live after death, only problem with it is that it has a setlist limited to the first 3 albums, notb hadn't been released at that point so there's not one person shouting along with the title track intro or singing along to run to the hills. and also, as far as i know you can only get it with the eddie's archives which costs around £100, if they even sell it anymore. but you do get the b-sides and bbc tapes aswell.

ashman 07-02-2005 05:42 AM

Apparently with the Beast over Hammersmith album, there were problems with the sound and the Band weren't too happy about it, that being the reason why they haven't released the full concert on DVD or video...

AB/CD 07-02-2005 12:13 PM

well its been released on the early days

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:14 PM

so i guess you guys have heard what nicko said in some french magazine that the new album will be released next year and that it will be concept
so what do you expect from it?
to be honest i dont expect any change in sound, maybe one or two slower songs like journeyman
what i would like to see however is if its gonna be a concept album i would like to see songs being linked together with more than just a story
i would like to see continous music
one songs continues where the previous one ended

i posted a link about that many pages ago.

personally i don't care what they do as long as they continue making albums and touring :D

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:31 PM

hmm its not about making albums its about making quality albums

crag 07-02-2005 02:37 PM
hmm its not about making albums its about making quality albums
hey its maiden we're talking about. they always make quality albums

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:38 PM

i love maiden they're my fave band
but not all of their albums are quality
some of them are mediocre and are generally overrated by maiden fans
examples: fear of the dark & dance of death

meh, fear of the dark wasn't great i must agree, still decent though

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:41 PM

what pulls fear of the dark out is afraid to shoot strangers and fear of the dark
ok and maybe even be quick or be dead
but the rest of the album was utter bull**** if you ask me

from here to eternity has its moments

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 02:53 PM

but the chorus is so repetive and broring
hell aint a bad place hell is fro here to eternity

crag 07-02-2005 02:55 PM
but the chorus is so repetive and broring

most of the choruses are repetitive

wicker man
brave new world
run to the hills
the trooper

to name but a few

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 03:00 PM

trooper doesnt have a chorus ;)
and true most chrouses are repetive however you dont get the repetive feeling on many of the songs
its all about how the vocal sings it
and bruce's voice was generally ****ed up at the time fear of the dark was recorded

Lord Abortion 07-02-2005 03:25 PM

tha trooper chorus goes "aaaaaaaahahahaaaaaaaaaahaaa"
I don't know whether you've ever heard it?

sorry, anyway, the songs released in the early 90's albums have alot of a stadium rock feel, IE bring your daughter, from here to eternity and so on, that reflected alot of the sound at the time really visible on live at donny

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 03:40 PM

its just a sound bruce makes
**** its not even listed in a booklet as a lyric

crag 07-02-2005 03:42 PM

choruses are not based on lyrics they are merely the focal point in a song (me thinks)

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 03:47 PM

imo for something to be chorus it has to have a meaning
lyrics that will hold the entire meaning of the song in them
and aaaaaaaaaahahahahaaaa doesnt have a meaning
anyway thats just the way i feel about the subject

crag 07-02-2005 03:48 PM

what about instrumentals

MaidenMadness 07-02-2005 03:51 PM

well instrumentals cant have chorus's cause they have no lyrics
listen to lets say careful with that axe eugene by pink floyd
you cant say it has a chorus
imo its not the same thing if a part of music repeats itself and if part of lyrics keeps repeating itself

Lord Abortion 07-02-2005 03:59 PM

um, OK my mention of the trooper thing was irony, but OK :)

it does have a meaning I think, certainly when It follows verse 3- "without a tear I draw my parting groan" it seems to follow that theme

AB/CD 07-02-2005 04:06 PM

could be recreating what many people in the light brigade were doing

YDload 07-02-2005 04:27 PM

Of course the non-verbal singing thing can be a chorus. Especially if it's "The Trooper" we're talking about.

Anyway, today I finally heard an Iron Maiden song on the radio! It was nothing special, just "Run to the Hills," but it was the first time I can ever remember hearing them on the air.

I win the argument

bah, this radio thing isn't such a good invention after all

the_uber_penguin 07-02-2005 05:53 PM

So they're only playing stuff from their first four albums at Reading. Slightly annoying, because I won't hear Paschendale, No More Lies, Blood Brother or The Wicker Man (or anything from the Blaze period.)

On the plus side, Sanctuary, Iron Maiden, Run To The Hills, Children of The ****ed, Hallowed Be Thy Name and Number Of The Beast will almost certainly feature, along with other cool stuff like Phantom Of The Opera and The Prisoner.
