Truth. It doesn't sound too expensive. Maybe I can get it for Christmas.
|
John Scofield, John Medeski, and Chris Wood are geniuses. Billy Martin is a stoner that is good at drums.

Attn: DMD/Asymm
After having it on my computer for an age, I finally got around to giving Ocean Beach a proper listen yesterday and have fallen in love with it. As it's the only RHP/Mark Kozelek album I own, could you reccomend me a few more which I should be checking out? |
Get Red House Painters [1]. Great album.
Also, you should definitely get Ghosts of the Great Highway by Sun Kil Moon. |
I always thought Songs for a Blue Guitar was very good, but I guess some people don't agree.
|
Yeah, next I'd suggest Red House Painters I and Down Colourful Hill. Both are perfectly captured moods put to music, really evocative material.
I'm sure DMD will use this opportunity to suggest Sun Kil Moon, but I still think that at least those three Red House Painters records are better than Ghosts of the Great Highway. |
The Hold Steady are so good.
|
I'm Seeing Mr Scruff in 3 hours, gonna be so fun.
|
Cool. I won't see him when he's here, but cool nevertheless.
|
So how about this guys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zidane:_A_21st_Century_Portrait_(soundtrack)
|
What's even cooler is that Friends of Dean Martinez did all the music for Fast Food Nation.
|
So you all probably get a ton of d-bags in here, but I'm gonna be another one and ask for band suggestions.
I don't need/want a huge list... just give me a top 3 or something. I want to get into other stuff |
The Microphones/Mount Eerie (same band, name change)
The Animal Collective Do Make Say Think I don't think you're a d-bag for asking that. It an entirely appropriate thing to ask. |

He played at the Cardiff students union, Great Hall.
|
ah cool. how you finding cardiff ? its a real nice city.
|
Yeah, I absolutely love it to be honest. It has all the character and charm of some of the UK's larger cities, but it's all so much more compact. Plus, it's got a pretty good indie scene.
|
sure has. spillers records is another reason i like going to cardiff. that shop has got loads of good stuff.
|
Yeah, isn't it like the oldest record store in the world or something? Either way it's pretty sweet.
In other news I have a 2000 word essay worth 50% of my module due in wednesday; Running word count: 49 words :( |
I finished high school last night. Yay.
Awesome, and congrats! |
Yay, I'm pretty excited about my Global Issues in Communication class. I'm discussing the Lost Experience for my oral presentation on an alternative media. And then I'm writing a 12-page report on Diablo II and how it functions as an online community, a network, and it's own culture.. good times.

I might apply for Cardiff, but London is my first choice.
I really should apply soon, but money money money, i just don't know. I wanna do Film/Media Studies although my dad thinks that's a waste of time. |

With all the scholarships I really only pay a couple thousand a year. Then I'll go to a more recognizable school (and if I can pass the tests) for grad school and a Master's degree. |
Hey Bukowski, cool to see your considering Cardiff :) I can see why London is appealing, but the course here that i'm on (Journalism, Film and Media) might really suit you. Not only does it have a pretty high prestige, but it's quite flexible and really fun.
Cardiff also has really great night life (albeit not as good as London) which will definately keep you satisfied in that respect. In other words, Cardiff is cool :D |
Ugh, college.
Gag me with a spoon. |
isn't this a musician forum?
|
Leaving for the week, going south for Schoolies.

Your point being? |
So tonight I saw a Pink Floyd tribute band. With pew pew-lasers, smoke, trippy guitar solos and all that. It was good stuff.
