I am looking for good zildjing hi-hats 100-250 CND For rock and other music is the 13" A MASTERSOUND HIHATS good?
|
check the New beats first.

Today i am going to pick me up either another crash or china. havent decided yet. Right now i have a 18 A Custom, and a 16 A custom Fast. I picked up a 10" a custom splash yesterday as well as new heads for everything. I had a china back in the day and never really used it so i am leaning towards a 17 A Custom or 17 A. What do you guys think about getting another crash or should i get a China, if so What do you guys Recommend. that would go with what i currently have. Thanks
The Cymbals i have now are 18 A custom 16 A Custom Fast 10 A custom Splash 21 A Sweet Ride 14" New Beats. |
i need a new ride and new hats. right now i have those in b8s, with an 18 aax crash and a 17 aa metal x crash. thats the general sound im looking for. for hats, i want a good crisp chick when closed, and some controlled (don't really know the word to describe) wash. for the ride, i want kind of like a 60 ping/40 wash, or maybe 70/30. mostly ping with a bit of wash. what should i look for?
edit : i generally like the samples i hear of 13" hats, but i dont know if thats how they actually sound, because my cymbals sound nothing like the samples on those websites too. |
hehe go for the 24 in giant beats the ping is always there with the most beautiful wash but theyre kinda warm so theres none of that high pitched ping.

After being a Zildjian A Custom whore for the past few years I finally sampled the Paiste Signature Cymbals. I now want to replace my current setup with Paistes (love at first listen).
I'll be going to a music shop to listen to a lot of them, but I was wondering if you guys can help me go in there with a little bit of a background. I am interested in the signiture series to replace: (All A Customs) 18" Fast Crash 16" Projection Crash 12" Splash 14" Mastersound Hi-hats 20" Ping Ride 18" China I would like to add one other crash when I upgrade. Any suggestions to try out or a list would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance. PS: Once again I have no background on Paiste due to my ignorance. :( |
after going to the paiste cymbal expo, i have decided to add a paiste 17 fast crash to my paiste 18 in full and fast crashes. They would make an excellent group of cymbals. The fast and full crashes i have now make a great pair. The full is higher pitched while that fast has a mellower lower pitch. My favorite is the fast. Definetly check ouy the 14 in paiste sig soundedges they are incredible hats. The giant beats are pretty nice also they have a smooth mellow sound so check those out. The chinas havent really impressed me a sig dry crisp ride would be nice.i really loved the sig mk1 splashes.
so the list would be 18in fast 18in full 17in fast(if you want to get more crashes) 14in soundedges 20 dry crisp 10 or 12 mk 1 splash |
Thanks poppinfresh! I'll definitely check those out.

Hats try A Quick Beats or A New Beats, IMO hte quickbeats are more crisper than then New Beats but the New Beats have more of the controled wash you want. My knowledge of Sabian is fairly limited, but perhaps try XCelerator hats, wouldn't a clue on rides lol. One for Bobby. |

AAX Stage hats, and try the Medium hevy and Heavy rides....AA, Hand Hammered...your call really...AA for bright. |
What would be good, versatile ride and crash cymbals that would sound good with zildjian new beat hi hats in the $100 - $200 range?
|
Bobby:
Do you think the 20" AA Medium Ride would make a suitable large crash? Any other lines I should like at for something along those lines? |
Cobalt: I would say A custom crashes, not too familiar with rides though.

no seet ride has a better crash
|
Thank you stevoibanez, I'll remember to check those out!
|
no, definetley try the 21 sweet ride it was made for crashing(not sure but it sounds like it was made with crashing in mind)
|
^^ I'll have to try one out sometime.
|
What are wavy bottom hi-hat cymbals for? Do they make the "chick" more pronounced?
Also do they crack more easily if the bottom is wavy? A guy on musiciansfriend said he went through two or three pairs of 2002 Sound edge hats in a year because of cracking. |
^^ He must have ****ty technique
Wavy edges reduce airlock (in other words, suction, when you close your hats then open them, they kinda stay together?). I think they are also faster and more precise than regular hats |

Whats about the smallest ride u can get?
I'm relatively new to drums, so I'm getting a ride now, i play from rock to blues, so i'd need one that can cover many sounds, could I have some advice please.. |
Well unless you custom order one, 18" is the smallest ride you can get.
|

I want a mid-low priced crash that makes a dark, but not too dark and long sound.
|
I mostly play rock and metal.
|
Wuhans! Or a 100 year old B8 cymbal!
|
Depending on what you consider low, I would look into AAX dark crash.
|
between 50 and 140 bucks
|
cool i looked em up. thanks guys
|
^^You could prob get a 16" AAX dark crash
|
:) thanks
