I only have Resurrection, but there are some ultra-generic songs on it. The good songs are really strong, but about a third of the album is hella lame.

Riva 06-29-2006 05:04 PM

I've only ever seen a real copy of Halford at a secondhand store, but it was scratched. :-/

Jaffe 07-12-2006 09:19 AM

I listened to the Hell Bent for Leather album today, and I must say Burnin' Up is a much better song than I initially thought! That slower bridge section (or whatever it's called), is too damn catchy!

Riva 07-13-2006 04:10 PM

Heh, I really, really like Hell Bent For Leather. It's very solid, I think.

FatalEnergy 07-13-2006 04:51 PM

Yeah, Hell Bent is a great one, but I still prefer Sin After Sin out of all of their 70s stuff

Apocalyptic Raids 07-14-2006 12:00 AM

I got Live Vengeance '82 from the library today :D

It's great so far.

Halford has a whip during Electric Eye

Riva 07-14-2006 05:07 AM

And yet we didn't know he was gay...

Apocalyptic Raids 07-31-2006 08:49 AM

bump

8th page :(:(:(
And yet we didn't know he was gay...
hahaha yeah. Some of his stage antics are hilarious.

Arlan89 07-31-2006 08:56 AM

Ah, Judas Priest, another brilliant band. I own Killing Machine, British Steel, Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders Of The Faith, Ram It Down and Painkiller. DOTF is definitily my favourite. It has so many killer songs like Freewheel Burning, Jawbreaker, The Sentinel (!), Eat Me Alive and Night Comes Down. Too bad I missed them last year on their tour.

dUSK 07-31-2006 08:58 AM

Has anyone here seen the Rising In The East DVD? I just remembered that I saw it cheap in a store last week and I was going to buy it, but then decided that I'd ask you lot if it was any good. Then I forgot, and now I'm just getting around to asking. So basically, is it any good?

If it's still there I might pick it up on Wednesday.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-31-2006 08:58 AM

Another Priest fan \m/

They sadly aren't verty common here. (Blasphemy, I know)

Yeah, that sucks. I really want to see them live.

It's very good. Well worth getting, although the lack of special features is a bummer but if it's cheap....

I just bought it the other day. I really like it so I would recommend getting it.

I was pissed when I saw no special features. However listening to Hellrider fixed that by putting a smile on my face.

pate 07-31-2006 11:33 AM

Yeah. The show itself is very, very good. The stuff other than the show is non-existant.

GenuineImitation 07-31-2006 02:11 PM

I was looking foward to interviews/back stage/sound check type things, but it wasnt there.

I still give the DVD itself a 10 out of 10 because the concert is so kick ass.

dUSK 07-31-2006 11:35 PM

Well it certainly appears it's worth getting then. :p

I'll grab it on my way to uni tomorrow.

I forgot to mention the set list is perfect (minus Lochness of course).

Enjoy it.

Go get Screaming For Vengence, and you'll need some 70's input, so get Sad Wings of Destiny. Different flavors of Judas Priest, but it's all great.

hellrider 08-01-2006 04:49 AM

will do :) are there 70s stuff good?

FatalEnergy 08-01-2006 04:53 AM

Oh yes!

Judas Priest's 70's material is all classic. The first album Rocka Rolla is a bit lacking, but it's still good.

You can pretty much pick up any Priest album with Halford except Turbo, and expect it to be killer stuff.

Arlan89 08-01-2006 05:40 AM

I can't believe I still don't have Sad Wings Of Destiny. Definitly gotta remember that album next time I go to a musicshop.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-01-2006 07:06 AM

I know, I still don't have it either. :(

pate 08-01-2006 12:42 PM

Wow. You guys need to get on that. Excellent album.

FatalEnergy 08-01-2006 12:43 PM

It's great stuff. Really groundbreaking for 1976. There was nothing like it at the time.

GenuineImitation 08-01-2006 12:44 PM
I know, I still don't have it either. :(
Either do I.

HahahitnRun 08-01-2006 12:46 PM

Really wasn't that impressed when I listened to Sad Wings of Destiny for the first time, but now i really love that album (besides Epitaph, that song still doesn't do anything for me)

-The Frank 08-01-2006 02:25 PM
I know, I still don't have it either. :(
I was going top buy Sad Wings yesterday but bought Jethro Tull's Aqualung instead only becasue maiden cover one of the songs off that album :)

Apocalyptic Raids 08-01-2006 11:20 PM

I've been waiting to buy it, but I don't know how much longer I can wait :(

FatalEnergy 08-02-2006 12:59 AM

I remember I got at Best Buy for $6. It was a steal. Sin After Sin is still my favorite 70's Priest album though.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-02-2006 01:33 AM

I saw a box set which had Sad Wings, Sin After Sin, Killing Machine, Unleashed In The East and Stained Class, but I was like $5 short :(

I already own Stained Class and have Unleashed In The East on mp3, but it still would have been cheaper than buying them separately.

hellrider 08-02-2006 01:57 AM

what do you lot think is judas priests best song

im going to go with hellrider but then nobody can have just one

FatalEnergy 08-02-2006 02:02 AM

Leather Rebel is my favorite, with Jawbreaker as a close second

Apocalyptic Raids 08-02-2006 02:03 AM

Electric Eye

FatalEnergy 08-02-2006 02:14 AM

I'm going to throw on some Priest. Defenders of the Faith time.
Top 3:
Hell Bent for Leather
Beyond the Realms of Death
A Touch of Evil

-The Frank 08-06-2006 07:33 AM

Went into the store today to buy Sad wings... but they didnt have it so i got Screaming for vengence(sp?) which is so far pretty good, much better then my last priest purchase (british steel)

Apocalyptic Raids 08-06-2006 07:59 AM

Screaming For Vengeance is awesome. Electric Eye is probably my favourite Priest song.

Deth 08-06-2006 12:52 PM

I got Sin After Sin a week or so back. Fantastic album. Let Us Prey/Call for the Priest is one of the best Priest songs I've heard. Other notables are Dissident Aggressor, Sinner, Starbreaker, hell the whole album really.

FatalEnergy 08-06-2006 02:22 PM

That's a great album. My favorite from the 70s.
