Slipknot will perform tonight on Conan Obrien show. 11:30 Central time, 12:30 Eastern time.
That was on the 27th of February.
That was on the 27th of February.

On NBC's website it says ALL-NEW. Plus I heard on some local radio station they said slipknot will perform tonight on slipknot. I dont know, I think they record the show few hours before the show. And 27th is sunday, and there is no late night shows on sunday.
anyone here seen the ***official*** slipknot shoe?
can you say 'sellouts' ?
So your saying if your wearing a Slipknot shirt there not selling out, And if there selling a shoe they are?

PepsiMetal 03-01-2005 11:27 PM

WTF does band's clothing gear have anything to do with selling out? Almost every band out there has their own clothing gear.

Huber 03-02-2005 12:07 AM
anyone here seen the ***official*** slipknot shoe?

Almost every band has there own clothing. Shoes are no differen't then a shirt.

The JoZ 03-02-2005 12:09 AM

Clothing has nothing to do with 'selling out'.

Generally, I thought the concept of selling out dealt with a band's music, and how they sound. If Slipknot changed the kind of music they were writing to appease the label, or to gain more fans or whatever, that would be selling out...or if they specifically said they didn't ever want to have any merchandise with their logos on it, and then changed their mind...maybe that would apply.

But simply having gear with your name on it doesn't constitute selling out. It's called 'promotion', and Slipknot, like many good bands, have utilized it well.

That being said, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those shoes, but someone would, I bet

Bartender 03-02-2005 12:21 AM

To my mind, selling out is doing something you very clearly said you wouldn't, usually for some monetary renumeration, or at least the want of such (case in point; Metallica), or else very notably changing your sound for the want of commercial success.

So, having clothing, etc, shouldn't necessarily be seen as selling out, unless it goes against former principles. It could be seen as just being whores (or whatever :)) in general, from a standpoint independent of the concept of selling out. For example, I always thought the Slipknot lunchbox was a step too far.

How can a person know if a band didn't and doesn't like playing the music? How do we know they didn't just change because they were tired of old music and went for something new?

To my understanding, it's impossible for a person (public audience) to know if a band sold out or not. Unless the band actually says they hate playing current music but they will because they need money. Or something like that.

BTW, tonight slipknot performed Before I forget. Pretty good. Saw Mick's new ibanez.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 03-02-2005 01:58 AM

I'm not too fond of their stuff, but they put on a pretty good performance at the Big Day Out.

Also, Mick 7 had an awesome guitar :p.

Huber 03-02-2005 03:06 PM

Opium Of The People is my ring tone :)

Sleeper 03-02-2005 03:08 PM

Nice, Is it the begining guitar riff?

TheSubtleArts 03-02-2005 04:36 PM

i think the single should have been The Blister Exists

Thor 03-02-2005 04:49 PM

Pulse of the Maggots should have been the first single, then Duality, then The Blister Exists. In my opinion, Slipknot did it all wrong. The Vermilion video was really cool though.

Polyamarous 03-03-2005 03:03 PM

Ok can i just say that i thouroughly dislike Slipknot and in my opinion very simillar to many other death metal bands but they are however insanley brilliant musicans and fantastic at playing thier instruments. im just not into 'sniff a carcus of a dead crow and projectile vomit over my friends' thing.

Huber 03-03-2005 03:06 PM

They aren't death metal, just for your future references.

Plus, if you can find evidence of Slipknot every doing something so grotesque as to sniff a carcus and vomit, I'd be very surprised. You've obviously been given the wrong stereotype. Stereotypes are bad, don't listen to them.

Yes, Purity should definetly be on your "Best of slipknot" thing.

they actually used to do alot of stuff like that, shawn used to carry around a dead raven i believe it was, in a jar that he would open up smell, causing him to vomit on stage. he also would pour goat blood on himself
